Fakta lain:
1. Wes Craven named the character Freddy Krueger after a kid who bullied him in school. He based his appearance on a hobo who scared him as a kid.
2. Wes Craven claimed to have drawn inspiration for this movie from 3 separate incidents involving young Cambodians, survivors of Pol Pot's genocidal "purges," all of whom died while apparently in the throes of a horrific nightmare. The story goes that first these young, otherwise healthy people would have a horrible nightmare, then refuse to sleep for as long as possible; when they finally fell asleep from sheer exhaustion they awoke with screaming and writhing, then died from a heart attack. In the last incident, the young man used a variety methods to try and stay awake that were incorporated into the film, including a hidden coffee pot.
3. This was Johnny Depp's first film. He, of course, has gone on to earn a name for himself in the 'Pirates Of The Caribbean' film series, as well as his frequent collaborations with director Tim Burton.
4. Johnny Depp went to the auditions with his friend Jackie Earle Haley. Interestingly, it was Haley who played Freddy in the 2010 remake.
5. Springwood High School was really Marshall High School in Los Angeles, which was about one block from where Heather Langenkamp lived at that time.
6. When Freddy appears with the long arms, it is actually two long fishing rods being held out.
7. Heather Langenkamp beat over 200 actresses for the role of Nancy Thompson. Other actresses who auditioned for the role Jennifer Grey, Demi Moore, Courteney Cox and Tracey Gold.
8. When Freddy is chasing Nancy and she runs up the stairs only to find that it's all "goo", it is not known what she actually steps in. According to Craven and producer Jacques Haitkin, it was a combination of oatmeal and pancake batter.
9. John F. Kennedy was killed while traveling along Elm Street in Dallas.
10.Banned in Finland on video and heavily censored in Germany.

1419 N. Genesee Ave, Hollywood, LA, CA -
Again, right across the street from 1428 N. Genesee Ave is #1419. While the famous 'Nightmare' house was on market once for $1,095,000, it makes me wonder what this house may have gone for. But if you're ever in the neighborhood, looking for landmarks and only thinking you've found the 'Nightmare house', just turn around 'cause there's more!
Tina's House locate at 620 Milwood Ave, Venice, LA, CA
Possibly the most important house in the 'Nightmare' series aside from #1428. Why? Well, this is where the first of many kills to follow takes place, AND its largely considered the best of the lot. I know it is by me personally. This is where you "just see... cuts happening", and where the audience gets to see what this group of teenagers is up against.
While in the films this evidently takes place in the same neighborhood, its actually located about a half-hour drive away from Nancy and Glen's houses. According to Wes Craven, this was actually a pretty bad neighborhood at the time. If you do decide to zoom in on Google Maps, you can kind of see how run down looking it is.
Tina's Nightmare --> Milwood Ct, Venice, LA, CA
In direct association with Tina's nightmare, this is the alleyway behind the back yard of her house where she goes looking for whoever it is throwing rocks at her bedroom window and calling "Tina". I had to use this particular shot because you've gotta love Freddy's shadow.
Though significantly changed over the years, this certainly looks to be the actual location where they filmed that alleyway scene. According to cinematographer Jacques Haitkin, the same house and area was used for that particular scene. The fence gate you see with the gardening glove is the gate Tina runs through as Freddy chases her.
Springwood High School -->John Marshall High School, Los Felis, LA, CA
The school is seen briefly in the beginning and rather significantly in the middle of the movie. Here's where Nancy has her nightmare about chasing her friend's body bag down the school hallways all just to be lured into a boiler room setting where Freddy is ready for her. The school's exterior shots and interior shots are however actually using two different schools.
This school was used for the exterior setting of Springwood High during the scenes at the beginning when Glen drives to school and the middle when Nancy heads home after having a terrible in-class nightmare.
John Burroughs Middle School, LA, CA-As far as I can tell, this school was never used for any exterior shots, but the filming went on inside during Nancy's nightmare.
The school is John Marshall High School, 3939 Tracy Street in Silverlake, which numbers Leonardo DiCaprio among its ex-pupils. A regular screen star, with a resumé stretching back to the Fifties, and two dramas of teenage angst: John Frankenheimer’s 1957 The Young Stranger and Nicholas Ray’s 1955 James Dean classic, Rebel Without a Cause. Since then, it’s featured in 80s romance Pretty In Pink, bodyswap comedy Like Father, Like Son, the original big-screen film of Buffy, The Vampire Slayer, Grosse Point Blank, and its playing fields hosted the carnival at the end of Grease
