Wenger - I gambled as much as I could
Ars鑞e Wenger admits that depleted resources in attack may have deprived Arsenal of vital Premier League points on Saturday.
The Frenchman fielded an offensive formation against Sunderland with Nicklas Bendtner and Robin van Persie up front while Samir Nasri and new signing Andrey Arshavin patrolled the flanks. However, the Russian's lack of match fitness and injuries to Eduardo, Emmanuel Adebayor and Theo Walcott, in addition to the absence of the creative influence of Cesc Fabregas and Abou Diaby gave Wenger few options as his team chased a late winner at Emirates Stadium.
Arsenal's manager brought on Carlos Vela for the tiring Arshavin and sacrificed a defensive midfielder - Alex Song - in an attempt to unlock the Sunderland defence but to no avail. Afterwards, Wenger insisted that his players deserved more than a frustrating 0-0 draw.
"It was difficult because we had no strikers on the bench," he said.
"Arshavin was dead after 60 minutes and we only had Vela on the bench. We took Song off and switched Nasri and we finished with Van Persie, Vela, Bendtner and Eboue in a purely offensive role.
"We still didn't score and I couldn't see there was much more of a gamble to take.
"I'm frustrated that the guys don't get rewarded because this team really wants to do well. I can't fault the spirit and I believe we have to keep that as a strength and the rest will come." :pompom::pompom:

Arsenal lack balance in transfer dealings, says Manchester United's Alex Ferguson
Manchester United manager Sir Alex Ferguson has suggested Arsenal's lack of balance is down to Arsene Wenger's apprehensions when it comes to buying defenders.
As Arsenal battle to avoid finishing outside the top four for the first time since the 1995/96 season, Ferguson has called into question why Wenger has not sought out players to fill to gaps left by last summer's departures.
He also queries why the Frenchman pursued Andrey Arshavin so resolutely when bolstering his midfield and defence appears more of a priority.
"He believes profoundly in his youngsters, he doesn抰 like to blend them too much with older players," Ferguson says in the Independent.
"What astonishes me is that he always buys attacking players, like [Andrei] Arshavin. He is a good player but [Wenger] already has [Samir] Nasri, [Emmanuel] Adebayor, [Robin] Van Persie, [Nicklas] Bendtner, Eduardo and [Theo] Walcott.
"I don抰 think he likes buying defenders. That lacks balance."
Wenger meanwhile has said quite the opposite ahead of Arsenal's Champions League clash with Roma. With five of their more attacking players |

Eduardo's surgeon feared he would have to amputate (potong )Arsenal striker's leg
Dr Khalid Baloch, the surgeon who operated on Arsenal's Eduardo, has said at one point he feared he would have to amputate his leg.

Baloch said his first reaction to the injury, which saw Eduardo's bone break through his skin, was that it was "limb threatening".
Amazed that the 25-year-old has made his return within a year of the challenge Baloch told the News of the World: "This was definitely a limb-threatening injury and we had to act quickly.
"We knew from the start it was very serious but it was, perhaps, the most serious injury I have ever seen.
揜eally, the fact Eduardo is back within a year is incredible because I felt after the operation that it would be at least a year before he even started kicking a ball. |

Emmanuel Eboue: Roma Match Will Be Hard For Arsenal
The Ivory Coast international is not taking the Italians for granted as he prepares to rumble...
Arsenal midfielder Emmanuel Eboue has warned of the pitfalls surrounding his side's clash with Roma on Tuesday night in the Champions League.
TheGunners man knows it will not be easy against the Giallorossi. LucianoSpalletti can pick from an almost fully fit squad, whereas Arsenal havea number of injury concerns as Cesc Fabregas is out, Emmanuel Adebayoris looking doubtful, Theo Walcott, Tomas Rosicky and Eduardo are stillsidelined, and Andrey Arshavin is ineligible.
Eboue is hoping his side can keep the Italians at bay in order to ensure an easier second leg at the Olimpico in two weeks.
"Thegame against Roma is very important for us, we know it will bedifficult as they play a very technical game," Eboue told the club'sofficial website.
"It's fundamental that we remain focussed for the whole match.
"We hope to win the first leg so that we can go to Rome with more tranquility."
The Giallorossi are in London. The team arrived later than expected after their flight from Fiumicino was delayed.
