Arsenal vs Man City Player Ratings
Manchester City's title hopes suffered a heavy blow after Mikel Arteta's late goal helped Arsenal clinch a 1-0 at the Emirates.

The Gunners were dominant throughout the game but were unable to break through a stubborn City defense and had to wait until the 87th minute for Arteta to fire home a scorcher to seal the win.

The result puts Arsenal two points ahead of rivals Tottenham in third place and condemned City to an eight point gap behind league leaders Manchester United.

Arsenal
Wojciech Szczesny - 6
His kicking remains awful but his throwing and his overall consistency this season has been a real asset to the Gunners. He will have plenty to offer to the team in the years to come.

Bacary Sagna - 7.5
Whipped in quality balls from the right all game and combined with Walcott well at both ends of the pitch to torment their former team mate Mr Clichy.

Thomas Vermaelen - 7
Vermaelen was at the wrong place at the wrong time when his Van Persie's header hit him when it was destined for the back of the net. He had a relatively easy game in defence as City didn't come close to scoring from open play.

Laurent Koscielny - 7
Koscielny will miss the next two matches after picking up his tenth yellow of the season but on a more positive note, he matched Aguero pace for pace and did not allow him time and space on the ball.

Kieran Gibbs (56' Off) - 6
Plagued by injuries in his time at Arsenal and just when he was having a good run in the first team, he had to leave the pitch injured. Gibbs still needs to work on his crosses though.

Alex Song - 9
What a key player he is for Arsenal. Crunching tackles and vital interceptions to protect his back four coupled with his Messi-esque passes. Great performance from the midfield man.

Mikel Arteta - 7.5
He has no sense of urgency whatsoever as his main priority was to keep possession, which is something he does brilliantly. He later sent the home fans into frenzy after his trademark strike from outside the box to steal the winner!

Tomas Rosicky - 7
His passes looked crisp, and he doesn't take his place in the starting XI for granted, chasing down every loose ball and winning balls in the middle of the park which explained Arsenal's dominance especially in the first half.

Yossi Benayoun (79' off) - 6.5
Benayoun was hardworking from start to finish and he would be a good addition to the thin Arsenal squad if Arsene Wenger decides to sign him at the end of the season and if he gets more minutes under his belt.

Theo Walcott (85' off) - 5
His run of poor form continues as he couldn't even do get the basics right. With an above average wing back at your disposal, it is a pity all he could do was prevent goal kicks and run straight into defenders.

Robin Van Persie - 7.5
An outstanding all round display from the skipper. A great leap and a header which should have resulted in a goal, if not for Vermaelen who "headed the ball off the line", but at the wrong end, and later headed the ball into the posts when he was left unchallenged in the penalty box.

Substitutions
Andre Santos (56' on) - 6
It was only his second appearance in the past four months and looked pretty rusty, getting booked minutes after his introduction. With Gibbs out injured and a lack of a quality defender on the bench, he has to watch his temperament and work hard on his defensive duties or Arsenal can kiss their third spot goodbye.
