Wenger promised 'job for life' at ArsenalSoccernet

Arsenal vice chairman David Dein has offered Arsene Wenger a job for life as he celebrates his 10th anniversary as manager of the London club.

'We want him for the rest of his career,' said Dein. 'If he wanted to give up the tracksuit he'd be invaluable in the boardroom in a technical role.'

Since Wenger's arrival from J-league side Nagoya Grampus Eight in 1996 the Frenchman has won three Premiership titles and four FA Cups to help him become one of the most respected figures in football.

Despite all he has accomplished during his decade at Highbury the 57-year-old former AS Monaco coach has no thoughts of retiring.

'We have a young team and want to continue developing,' Wenger said. 'Reaching the Champions League final last season gave us belief.'

The Frenchman has had a number of run ins with Manchester United manager Sir Alex Ferguson during his time in England but former Red Devils skipper Roy Keane, now manager at Sunderland, has immense respect for his mentor's long-time foe.

Keane said: 'He has done a brilliant job at Arsenal. I watched them last week against United and they were outstanding.

'The way they play the game, the way he leads himself - I have to say, the way he keeps his head or he seems to keep his head, even at the start of the season when people were starting to doubt Arsenal - maybe myself being one of them - I thought United would beat them.

'A manager at any top club like an Arsenal, a Liverpool, a United, has obviously got special talent.

'I read something about him the other day and a thing he said about football: he said some people live off football and some people live for football.

'He clearly lives for the game, I will give him that, and all credit to him. I wish him well.'
