Pakistani filmstar Meera says she has no regrets about her verbal attacks on Aishwarya Rai. According to her, she's the most talented and beautiful actress in Bollywood today.
Of late you have been speaking a great deal against Aishwarya Rai. Why are you so offensive?
I am not offensive. I say exactly what I feel and understand. I am not scared of speaking my mind. I really think Ash is a fake. If I get as many films as Ash does in India, I will certainly go much beyond her.

Do you want to pose a challenge to her?
Why should I challenge any Indian actress? I am confident that in some days from now I will stand apart from everyone else. I know what I have within me. It's not without reason that I have earned so much fame in Pakistan.

Do you mean to say that you are the most talented and good-looking actress in the entire Indian film industry today?
Do you have any doubts about it? I don't. Just give me some time and my work will speak for itself.

Have you done films like Qasak in Pakistan?
No, after Nazar, Qasak will be another milestone in my career. It's the first time I am doing this kind of character.

You boast such a lot. But do you actually have any offers from Bollywood to back up your claims?
Believe me, I have more than enough.

Abhishek Bachchan backs out of Zee Awards

Abhishek Bachchan fans are in for a disappointment. The heart throb who was supposed to perform at the Zee Cine awards in Mauritius has cancelled the trip. The reason being that he is down with the viral flu. The entire Bachchan clan was looking forward to the act. In fact they were all supposed to fly to Mauritius to watch him perform live. But Abhishek抯 doctors have forbidden him from traveling.

If Abhishek wins an award, Rani Mukherji or Sanjay Leela Bhansali will collect it. In the meantime, dad Amitabh Bachchan is well on his road to recovery after his illness. He is all set to get back to work. The projects which are yet to be completed include Karan Johar抯 Kabhi Alvida Naa Kehna, Ravi Chopra抯 Babul and his make up man抯 Bhojpuri film. Talks are on with film makers like Deepa Mehta and Rakeysh Mehra for new projects.

Will Ash and Aamir meet Bush?

Aishwarya Rai has been invited to a luncheon meeting with President George W Bush on Thursday afternoon at Taj Palace, New Delhi. She will join other celebrities like industrialists Mukesh Ambani, Sunil Mittal and Ratan Tata. Confirming the news, Rai's business manager Hari Singh said, "I received a call from the office of the Minister of External Affairs, stating that they would like Aishwarya to attend."

Unfortunately, Ash is currently in Brazil, shooting for Yash Chopra's Dhoom 2.

Apparently, the lunch invite was delayed because of security reasons, as the list of invitees was to be kept secret. Hotel Maurya Sheraton -- where Bush is staying -- has already been condorned off, and a close 24-hour vigil is being kept. The entire hotel has been booked and no outsider can visit for the next three days. The Delhi government has also announced that students who have to attend exams should leave home early to avoid being caught in traffic jams because of security.

When asked if Aishwarya would make it for lunch, Singh said, "It is doubtful because she left for Brazil yesterday. The invite came to us very late."

Apparently, Aamir Khan has also been called, but there is no word on whether the reclusive actor will attend. He has strong views against American policy and has often criticised its imperialist policy.

At the time of release of Mangal Pandey, he said, "I saw close parallels between Mangal Pandey and today's time. At that time, the East India Company came to India and took over. They began destroying our country economically and enforcing their social views on us. They said they were doing us a favour. Today, America is doing the same to Iraq and Afghanistan. They say they are solving the problems of Iraqis and Afghans, but the fact is they are actually stealing."

In the past, Bollywood personalities have been known to hobnob with heads of state. Shah Rukh Khan charmed the audience at a dinner meet when former Prime Minister Vajpayee invited Pakistan's President Musharraf for peace talks in Agra. Rani Mukherjee was present at the dinner too, and was told by President Musharraf that she was popular in Pakistan.  

Suman Ranganathan was another actress called on by former US President Bill Clinton when he visited India in 2000. She then told rediff.com that even saying 'Hi' to the President of the United States was a big thing to do in life.

Meet Dinshaw Sethna.

Naseeruddin Shah plays this eccentric sculptor has-been, a man who lives reclusively around the Panchgani hill station in Maharashtra.

Dinshaw, a blissful admirer of marijuana, meets a stranger, Cyrus (Saif), and decides to let him into his house.

The prospect of a young man sharing her roof intrigues Dinshaw's wife Katy, played by Bollywood's Mrs Robinson, Dimple Kapadia.

Not able to compete successfully for her husband's affections against a temptingly rolled-up joint, she decides to concentrate her affections on Cyrus.

The Sethnas are an extremely dysfunctional family, and the film shuttles between the Panchgani house and an old Mumbai building where live the other Sethnas -- Boman Irani and Simone Singh.

Things were relatively normal, but Cyrus' entry as an outsider shakes up the Sethnas' fragile web of relationships. And everything unspools, rapidly.

Generating laughs on the international festival circuit, Being Cyrus seems like a rather intriguing dark comedy.

The ensemble cast is incredibly talented, the script sounds fresh, and the theme is different -- even if it has Saif doing an Akshaye Khanna, ie - falling head over heels for Dimple.

Homi Adjania's directorial debut, Being Cyrus is slated to release on March 24.

The Zee Cine Awards promise to be one star studded affair. As was reported earlier, Shahrukh Khan will be performing on stage. And giving him company on stage will be Amrita Arora. And this being the first time that Amrita will perform with the King Khan, she just can抰 control her excitement.

The performance will be a tribute to Yash Raj Films. Rani, Priyanka, Preity, Dia and Amrita will all be a part of the medley. Each of them will perform two songs with SRK. Khan himself will be performing on all the songs. Apart from this tribute, Amrita will also perform with Riteish and Tusshar on a medley of love songs. Her outfits for the grand event have been designed by Anna Singh.

Performing with SRK sure must be a heady feeling. But the only thing that will dampen her spirits a wee bit is the fact that her boyfriend Usman Afzal, will be in Nagpur, commenting on the England-India cricket match. The awards function will be hosted by Mallika Sherawat and Karan Johar. Other celebrity presenters include Arjun Rampal and Gulshan Grover.

The dashing John Abraham has been offered a role by ace director Mani Ratnam in his next Hindi film.

However, due to date problems John hasn抰 confirmed himself for the film.

John told a website, " Mani Ratnam has offered me a film . It's a great role and I'd love to do it but I need time to work things out.

Shah Rukh to jive with 5 Bollywood beauties

The superstar of Bollywood would be seen shaking his leg with five beautiful actresses in his performance at the Zee Cine Awards in Mauritius.

While Abhishek抯 on-stage performance, which apparently stands cancelled now, will certainly be missed, Shah Rukh Khan 抯 performance on a medley of songs with as many as five Bollywood beauties will be something to watch.

It is learnt that SRK will perform with Rani Mukherjee , Priyanka Chopra , Preity Zinta , Dia Mirza and Amrita Arora on a number of songs that would be a tribute to Yash Raj films.

The evening would also see performances by Salman Khan , Akshay Kumar and Saif Ali Khan .

To be held at the Swami Vivekananda International Convention Centre in Mauritius on Saturday, Zee Cine Awards would be hosted by Mallika Sherawat and Karan Johar .

Other celebrity hosts for the show are Arjun Rampal , Konkana Sen and Gulshan Grover .

Sanjay Dutt in an intense role

Some time back, ace director Priyadarshan had revealed his plans to do a serious film with Sanjay Dutt , which would have the intensity and depth of his earlier films, Gardish and Virasat.

The film tentatively titled, Brasht, is among the many films that Priyadarshan is planning in the serious genre, after he last deviated from the comedy formula in Kyon Ki .

And now according to Dutt's business manager, Kalim Khan, Priyadarshan had sent a word expressing his desire to work with the star and he has been eagerly looking forward to the script narration ever since.

If you missed the performance of Abhishek Bachchan at the 51st Filmfare Awards last week, then don抰 be disappointed.

There was a furore over the accidental or not-so-accidental blackening out of Abhishek's performance during the live telecast last week.

In a decision, seen as a major damage control exercise, Sony will re-telecast the Filmfare Awards this Saturday, March 4, from 8 p.m.

The decision has been taken at the highest quarters at Sony Entertainment following the outrage expressed over the bizarre occurrence.

Sony's official spokesperson Anupama Mandloi, however, tones down the purpose of the damage control exercise.

She says: "Of course we have taken the decision to re-telecast the Filmfare Awards because Abhishek Bachchan's performance couldn't be seen by our viewers. But the other performances like Madhuri Dixit and Aishwarya Rai were also vital to the shows. And those who missed the earlier telecast would have the chance to catch all the live excitement."

What measures are being taken to ensure that the telecasting fiasco on Saturday doesn't recur?

"We can only do what we have to do. Namely telecast the event. Since we had no hand in the break of signal on Saturday we can only hope it won't happen this time," says Anupama.

Abhishek's father Amitabh Bachchan had said: "Every time he came on stage the TV went blank saying 'No Signal'. And just as he went off, the telecast returned to normal. It happened twice -- once when he went up to get his award for best supporting actor and then during his live act.

"This happened all over the country. We received complaints about Abhishek's blacked-out presence from Delhi, Chennai, Patna..."

Arjun Rampal bags BBC Award

Arjun Rampal has bagged the BBC Asian Network's Film Cafe Awards under the category of the best supporting actor for his portrayal of a duplicitous Bangkok dude in Ek Ajnabee .

In terms of nominations reputed journalists from the network select the nominees for these awards, while listeners from the BBC Asian Network cast their votes authentically and choose the winners of the Film Cafe Awards.

The others nominated in the category were Abhishek Bachchan , Nana Patekar , Kay Kay Menon , and Chunky Pandey . This public vote and conviction of his fans lead Arjun to beat Abhishek by a close margin.

In the words of fashion designer Anna Singh, Salman Khan is the guy who introduced her to the world of men抯 fashion.

Salman抯 brotherly relation to Anna Singh has spanned around two decades. Right from the beginning of Salman抯 acting career with films like Biwi Ho To Aisi and the superhit Maine Pyar Kiya to some flicks in the recent years, Anna has designed Salman抯 clothes.

Salman in 'Judwaa' sequel?

Soon the sequel-struck industry is going to see yet another sequel to rock silver screen. As per reports, Sajid Nadiadwala's planning to make a sequel to his super hit film 'Judwaa'. There's a rumour that Sajid is making two sequels to 'Judwaa', however, Sajid admitted one. The script is yet not ready, but like previous it will be a story of a pair of twins for sure.
On asked whether Salman is being signed up for the lead role, Sajid Nadiadwala said he is not sure about Salman. "I'm not sure if Salman will be featured in this one," admitted Sajid in a recent interview.
