MILAN - Goals from Christian Vieri, Alvaro Recoba and Julio Cruz gave Inter a 3-1 win over Bologna in Sunday evening's Tim Cup last sixteen first-leg match at the Giuseppe Meazza.
After Giorgos Karagounis rattled the woodwork and Vieri had an effort ruled out for offside in the opening minutes, Bellucci fired Bologna ahead from their first attempt on goal, beating Fontana with a crisp diagonal shot after controlling a long ball forward. Christian Vieri got the all-important equaliser before half time, outjumping Binotto to head home Mihajlovic's left-wing corner kick.
It was one-way traffic in the second half as the Nerazzurri imposed their tactical superiority in midfield. The entrance of Alvaro Recoba midway through the half caused further headaches for the visitors and it was El Chino who put Inter ahead with just under ten minutes to play. Z |

Inter: Giggs And Campbell!

After winning their first game in many weeks, Inter are set to win two other ‘games’: the signings of Ryan Giggs and Sol Campbel.
Both players have refused to extend their contracts with Manchester United and Arsenal and their future with their respective clubs is highly in doubt. In fact if the two British players do not sign a new contract soon, they will be placed on the transfer market in June to avoid losing them on a free next year.
Giggs would solve the left wing problem while Campbel would strengthen a defensive department which has been appalling this season. To arrive to these two players, Inter will need to defeat the stiff competition of Newcastle and Bolton for the Welsh player, whilst Campbel is also on Juve’s wishlist.
However in both cases, the nerazzuri have the advantage of offering the two players better financial contracts which would sway the balance in their favour.

Inter May Use Van Der Meyde To Get Cassano

Italian daily La Gazzetta dello Sport are reporting that AS Roma would like to sign Inter wing Andy Van der Meyde this January, with the key negotiating factor being the currently unhappy Antonio Cassano.
In-fact, the only way this deal could take-off is if Roma hand Inter Cassano, and in exchange receive the Dutch wing and around 15-20 million Euros.
At the same time the financially-torn Giallorosso club would have to off-load Delvecchio and Candela in order to maintain their current salary costs.
If this complicated deal is scrapped by the two sides, then Roma will attempt to sign Palermo’s Santana, who already played under Delneri at Chievo.
Just yesterday Palermo supremo Zamparini announced ‘Santana will go to Roma in January,’ although a confirmation of his words has not arrived from the Roma camp as of yet.

BREMEN - Inter remain unbeaten in 2004/05 and stay top of Uefa Champions League Group G thanks to a 1-1 draw with Werder Bremen at the Weserstadion.
An excellent defensive performance by the Nerazzurri kept out a creative German side who took the lead four minutes after the restart when Ismael converted from the penalty spot.
Inter drew level through substitute Obafemi Martins, who headed home from close range after Dejan Stankovic's delightful lob came back off Reinke's crossbar.
The Nigerian could have snatched a late winner for the Nerazzurri, but he saw his shot blocked after a mazy run which left three opponents in his wake.
Inter's next match needs no introduction. It's Nerazzurri v Bianconeri in an eagerly-awaited 'derby d'Italia' at the Meazza this Sunday evening.
