Real Madrid look set to strip floundering Italian giants Juventus of their top players as the trial for match-fixing moves towards a conclusion.
Madrid reportedly want to sign Fabio Cannavaro - captain of both Juventus and Italy - fellow Azzurri defender Gianluca Zambrotta, Italy goalkeeper Gigi Buffon and Brazil's Emerson to their star-studded squad.
The Spanish club has already acquired the services of former Juve coach Fabio Capello.
Juve's Mauro Camaronesi, Andrea Pirlo and Gennaro Gattuso of Milan and Fiorentina's Luca Toni could also be sold elsewhere as their clubs face up to the threat of relegation for their part in appointing referees.
Juventus' French stars Patrick Vieira and Lilian Thuram will go on sale too. |

Didier Deschamps signed a two-year contract on Monday to coach Juventus, which faces demotion and being stripped of its last two Serie A titles in the Italian match-fixing scandal.
The former Juventus midfielder, who captained France to the 1998 World Cup title, replaces Fabio Capello after his resignation last week to coach Real Madrid.
In June, Juventus officials met with Deschamps, who said he was interested in coaching the Turin club even if it is demoted.
The Italian soccer federation's sports trial ended last week with AC Milan, Fiorentina, Lazio and 25 soccer officials also facing charges. Verdicts are expected this week.
Juventus' former chief executive Antonio Giraudo and ex-general manager Luciano Moggi are at the center of the scandal. The two resigned due to the scandal in May, along with the club's entire board.
Meanwhile, Romanian player Adrian Mutu was transfered by Juve to Fiorentina in an €8 million (US$10.2 million) deal on Monday |
