How To Choose
Carry it in your hand. If it feels too light like paper, that means there is nothing inside or the contents have shriveled up and dried out. Don't buy these. Good nuts are odorless on the outside.

How To Clean
The nuts have been in the ground so it is a good idea to wash them. Put all the nuts in a basin of water. They will tend to float, so the secret is to place a heavy plate over them to keep them under water. Soak them for more than 2 days.
By then, the water would turn a murky brown as a result of the loosening of dirt sediments. Give the nuts a good scrub to get rid of embedded sand.

Lastly, transfer them into a pot and boil the nuts for 5 minutes. This will ensure that no bacteria is lurking around the nuts.

Preparing the Contents
To make an opening on the nut, use a pestle to knock apart an inch and a half off the nut's side seam. If you can fit 2 fingers in, that's about right.
Some people like the original bitter taste and tar-like consistency. If you do, then just leave the nuts as they are in the curry. Otherwise, you can scoop out the contents and mix them with minced meat or prawns and sambal. Afterwhich, you refill the nuts again with this delicious mixture and cook them in the curry.

psl gabemen lain ler aku xbrape brani nak men redah jek dep..ntah kang kemana2 aku sampai kang...kalo stakat kat semenanjung nih..kire aku brani lagik men redah jek p melaka..kl nuu..ni tmpt org..xsama..kang kalo aku sesat kt s`pore nuu..sape plak ler aku nak call utk mintak pertolongan cemas..hehehhe :bgrin:
