Did the Japs ever part of JSF project alongside many US allies? I mean, JSF is a cheaper alternatives as compared to F-22, which are exlusively for USA only.
Japan can easily apply to manufacture JSF under license much like the F-15J previously. |

The catch is the the JSF is a "low-end" MRCA, not a dedicated interceptor that they probably need as a future F-15 replacement.
Range and performance of the JSF is relatively low when put next to the F-22. |
