Hamburg Sign Kosi Saka From Dortmund, Lauth Set For Exit
Hamburg have signed midfielder Kosi Saka from Bundesliga rivals Borussia Dortmund. However, Benjamin Lauth looks set to leave the AOL Arena.
The 21-year-old has arrived on a free transfer and has signed a 2 year contract.
According to Sporting director Dietmar Beirsdorfer, "Kosi is a player with good vision and a lot of potential for development."
Saka added: "I am happy to get the chance to develop further at a club like Hamburg."
Saka comes from the Democratic Republic of Congo and made six substitute appearances for Dortmund in the Bundesliga.
However, the youngster was a key player in the Regionalliga for Dortmund, making 25 appearances.
While Saka抯 future lies on the North coast, that of Benjamin Lauth apparently doesn抰.
With the signing of Mohamed Zidan and the offensive power of Sanogo, Guerrero, and Ivica Olic, Lauth seems surplus to requirements at the AOL Arena.
"We simply don抰 need Lauth," explained Hamburg trainer Huub Stevens.
"When he arrives for training I will have to tell him that."
Lauth was signed in 2004 for |

Bayern Munich Seal 25 Million Ribery Deal
Olympique Marseille have officially confirmed that Franck Ribery will be plying his trade for Bayern Munich next season.
Marseille president Pape Diouf has confirmed the transfer of Frank Ribery to Bayern Munich in a 25 million euro deal.
Believe it or not, the fee is a new Bundesliga record. He will earn 4 million euros per year.
"The transaction will be concluded on Wednesday and Ribery will move to Munich in order to pass the medical and sign his contract on Thursday," Diouf told L'Equipe.
He also spoke about the possibility of Barcelona's Ludovic Giuly joining Marseille as a replacement.
"Giuly to replace Ribery? For the moment it is just a wish from the Barcelona player," he said.
"We have to know under what conditions the deal could be struck.
"I am clarifying today, that we won't waste too much money on salaries. We won't make the same errors as we did after Drogba's transfer." |

Werder Confirm Interest In Diarra
Werder Bremen manager Klaus Allofs has confirmed the club's interest in signing French international Alou Diarra from Olympique Lyon.
The 25 year old defensive midfielder, who played for Bayern Munich抯 amateurs between 2000 and 2002, has been confirmed as a target for Bremen.
"I have spoken with the player and he has shown great interest in a switch. We are trying to make the transfer a reality," Allofs told the Bild-Zeitung Bremen.
Diarra has made 11 appearances for the French national team- among them 2 appearances at the 2006 World Cup, where he made also a substitute appearance in the final.
"He knows German football and speaks German," added Allofs about the defensive specialist who has recently had a falling out with manager Gerard Houllier at Lyon. Alain Perrin has since taken over, but a decision about the player抯 future has yet to be made.
Diarra would become the first top-class signing for the Weser Stadion club, after they signed goalkeeper Nico Pellatz from Hertha Berlin on a free transfer.
Pellatz has signed a two year contract and will replace Andreas Reinke in the squad after the veteran keeper did not have his contract renewed.
There will be competition from Juventus, who are also said to be chasing him, ironically because they failed to lure Torsten Frings away from Werder. |

Werder Bremen Demand Podolski For Klose
Werder Bremen have ruffled a few feathers in Bavaria by asking for Lukas Podolski in exchange for Miroslav Klose.
With all the pieces falling into place in the great rebuilding project at Bayern, one piece still seems to be eluding them - Klose.

Klose agrees to join Bayern
Germany striker Miroslav Klose has confirmed he will join Bayern Munich and hopes it will be this summer.
The 28-year-old, who has been linked to a string of Premiership clubs, revealed his decision after his country's 2-1 win over Slovakia on Wednesday night.
The only uncertainty, however, remains when he will actually make the switch, since he still has a year left on his contract with Werder Bremen.
"The fact is I have decided to play for FC Bayern in 2008," he said.
"I would prefer for it to happen as quickly as possible and to have everything clear, but if I have to stay one more year in Bremen, then I will still give everything to Werder.
"I would be delighted if I were able to play for Bayern this year." |

National Team beat Slovakia 2-1 to end season
Thomas Hitzlsperger was delighted to fire Germany five points clear at the top of their Euro 2008 qualifying group as his first-half goal sealed a 2-1 win over Slovakia on Wednesday. The VfB Stuttgart midfielder's well-taken header two minutes from the break was his first goal since he netted in Germany's 13-0 win at San Marino last September.
The win at Hamburg's World Cup Arena takes Germany to 19 points at the top of group D, five points clear of the Czech Republic in second, to leave Joachim Loew's side in pole position to qualify for next June's European Championships in Austria and Switzerland.
Germany took the lead after 10 minutes. After German defender Marcell Jansen slid his pass through the visitors' defence, Klose looked to have put his side 1-0 up but replays showed it was Slovakian defender Jan Durica who stabbed the ball home. Slovakia pulled level less than ten minutes later when Germany's Christoph Metzelder tried to clear the danger after a superb run from Matej Krajcik, but only suceeded in putting the ball past his own goalkeeper Jens Lehmann. Hitzlsperger then gave Germany back the lead just two minutes before the break with a header which turned out to be the game winner.

Ribery and Toni aim to put Bayern on top
MUNICH, Germany (AFP) - French midfielder Franck Ribery and Italian striker Luca Toni insisted on Friday they have joined Bundesliga giants Bayern Munich to win titles and get them back to the pinnacle of German football.
Ribery, 24, signed for Bayern on Thursday from French side Marseille, less than 24 hours after master-minding France's 1-0 Euro 2008 qualifier win over Georgia in Paris on Wednesday night, and 30-year-old World Cup winner Toni joined from Fiorentina.
Since German captain Michael Ballack moved to Chelsea last summer, Bayern stuggled in midfield last season, enduring their worst season for ten years, and as one of the world's best attacking midfielders, Ribery will fill the role.
The Frenchman is looking forward to bringing some glory back to his new club having signed a four-year deal with the German giants.
"Bayern are an ambitious, serious and a very well-structured club whose senior figures made a lot of effort to recruit me," said Ribery, whose transfer is estimated to be 25 million euros, which would make him the most expensive player in Bayern's history.
"In the last year I have competed in some big finals - the World Cup final, the French Cup final - and lost them. But I have come here to earn titles, because that is what means something in every player's career."
Having finished fourth in the Bundesliga last season, Bayern will be in the UEFA Cup next season for the first time in ten years and Ribery revealed he turned down Real Madrid - and the Champions League - to come to Bayern.
"Real Madrid wanted me to join," said Ribery.
"It certainly gave me food for thought, especially as Bayern won't play in the Champions League next season.
"But when a big club like Bayern comes to see you, it is really something. "They had a difficult season, but this club have often been champions.
"The most important thing is that they will bounce back and the club have made a huge effort to recruit big players."
And Toni, who won the European Golden Boot in the 2005-06 season after scoring 31 goals for Fiorentina, echoed Ribery's sentiments - he has come to Bayern to bring back the glory and win titles.
"Bayern is one of the most famous teams in the world and their directors made it clear they wanted me as part of their plans for next season," said Toni, whose transfer deal is believed to be worth 11 million euro.
"I wanted a new challenge and to get some experience outside Italy.
"Bayern is a club which has plans for a big future and that is what attracted me.
"It's true they won't play in the Champions League next season, but they clearly have ambition to get back their glory days and we will start with the Bundesliga and UEFA Cup next season."
Ribery added Bayern's French defender Willy Sagnol had been a big factor in helping lure him to Munich and the pair had discussions during last year's World Cup finals in Germany about a possible switch.
"During the World Cup, we spoke a lot about Bayern and he only told me good things," said Ribery. "When I told him I was coming, he told me I had made the right choice. "Bayern are a serious club and I got the support from several players in the French team, as well as the coach Raymond Domenech. "He did not hesitate and said to me I would do well there. "I am looking forward to playing in the Bundesliga, where there are a lot of personal duels and midfield battles." Toni and Ribery join striker Jan Schlaudraff, midfielders Hamit Altintop and Ernesto Sosa and defender Marcell Jansen as confirmed new arrivals at Bayern this summer. Brazilian winger Z茅 Roberto is set to agree a return, while German striker Miroslav Klose has confirmed his intention to join them from Werder Bremen by the summer of 2008 at the latest. |
