Bayern stay top despite draw with Schalke
Sat, 15 Sep 2007 - 22:30
By: Hatem Maher
Bayern Munich maintained their position on top of the Bundesliga table despite being held to a 1-1 draw with Schalke at Allianz Arena on Saturday.
Ivan Ratkic stunned the home crowd in the 35th minute after firing a powerful shot that went past Bayern keeper Oliver Kahn.
Miroslav Klose notched his fourth goal of the season seven minutes after re-start on the rebound to salvage a draw for the Bavarians.
Bayern, who are yet to suffer any defeat, are in charge of the table with 11 points while Schalke lie tenth on seven points.
Elsewhere, Eintracht Frankfurt beat Mohamed Zidan's Hamburg 2-1 at home.
Rafael van der Vaart's penalty eight minutes from time cancelled out Alexander Meier's opener after eight minutes.
Meier sealed a precious victory for Frankfurt two minutes before the final whistle.
Defending champions Stuttgart made up for their recent disappointing form after crushing Energie Cottbus 3-0.
Goals from Cacau, Ewerthon and Mario Gomez gave Stuttgart the three points. |
