FYI, Sekai ni Hitotsu was such a big hit that various artistes from various countries have re-recorded it in various languages, including Malaysian Chinese singer Nicholas Teo who recorded it in Mandarin...jadi jangan la terkejut kalau tiba2 terdengar lagu ni dalam bahasa Cina kat Malaysia nih, because the original is still a SMAP song... |

I've seen the first two episodes of Engine. It's a really good drama and I love it.
Fan response has been very positive. Takuya's character Jiro is so endearing, the script is good, the characters interesting, both the funny moments and the touching ones really naturally presented, and despite the large cast it gives no impression of being crowded or confusing. The theme is serious but presented with a light hand.
The media is treating it very favorably too. Unlike fans they apparently hadn't realised how versatile an actor Takuya really is, and have been impressed with his representation of a "not so cool" childish character.
Ordinary viewers also seem to like his playing someone who is not described as dashing or cool, unlike some of his previous roles.
We fans all knew he could do it if given the chance. He really is very good. Jiro is an earnest, disappointed professional and a self-obssessed, immature "boy". Takuya makes both sides mesh so naturally! Jiro's scenes with the children (he hates kids) and with his sister and father are particularly great.
The racing circuit scenes are quite exciting too (Toyota is giving its full support and cooperation), but they are only less than a quarter of the scenes, although never far from Jiro's mind.
