It's okay. My bahasa is also quite teruk. Sometimes Malays don't know what I'm talking when I speak bahasa to them.
But I'm glad you like this tutorial. ![](static/image/smiley/default/smile.gif) |

again thank you for you very informative tutorials.. it's really useful and totally different from what i usually do .. i usually put the original scan layer at the bottom, not above all other layers.. and I use wand tool and sometimes with lasso tool to get the area that i want to color.. i just wonder how do you color the face without affecting the eyes and mouth?
for the example above.. is that an inked lineart?
i also have same problem as merru when i am preparing for clean lineart.. and i am not good at english either to explain my situation.. it's hard to go over the original "path" or "sketch line" nicely all the time.. so there are some areas where they look good but there are also some areas where they tend to look different from the original artwork, if you know what i mean here.. i tried to look for soltuon too on the internet, but the answer that i usually get is "do a lot of practices" hehe..
i know how to use pen tool but i find it's pretty painful to finish an artwork with just pen tool.. |

Glad you like the tutorial. ^_^ As for the lineart, I could say I don't use the pen tool in the Photoshop. Most of the time, I would prefer using traditional inking pen for my artworks. Mainly because I find the lineart looks more livelier compare to digital inking. And it takes ages just to use the pen tool in Photoshop.
As for your question about the colouring the face without affecting the mouth and eyes. The truth is, I do colour over it. I just use the eraser tool to erase the mouth and eyes. This tutorial that I've shown you don't use any magic wand selection. The trick is using pencil to do colouring instead of the brush for the base colour and CTRL+click on the base layer in the layer editor. |

It would be great to share your artwork. At least when people comment, you will know where you can improve. That's how most artists improve too. To be ready to accept harsh criticism.
Oh, drop that "sensei". It's not like I'm a pro in this field. :p |

Okay, I'll drop one or two if I got time to work on something... since I'm a bit busy after about 2 weeks in a new academic semester... I'm ready to hear criticism ![](static/image/smiley/default/smile.gif)
Just wonder, you guys accept any kind of artworks, right? Or, will it be only for manga-style drawings? Since, I don't really practice drawing like manga... I usually draw ( sketching, to be exact) when my mood comes :bgrin: |

Yeah, I do have a DA account. But sadly, I don't bother to update much and I don't really draw for the sake of drawing. Most of the drawings are just quick artworks done for other people. So, I don't think there's anything much worth looking at in my DA account. |

Who says you have to draw Japanese style comics to show your artworks here. Nowadays, many professional artists will tell you to draw in your own style instead of copying styles. ;)
P.S. The word manga means general comics. Be it American, European, Malaysian, or Japanese. A lot of people tend to think manga only belongs to Japanese styled only, which is actually a common misconception. |
