Serie A To Resume This Weekend, Six Games Behind Closed Doors
It has now been confirmed that Serie A actions will resume this weekend. However, the bans on stadia will kick in as predicted, and that will see only four games being played in front of the public.
(A) Serie A action to resume on Saturday,
(B) Only stadia complying with norms to be open to public,
(C) Matches open to public to take place during the day,
(D) Remaining games to take place behind closed doors.
The impact of the judgements is that fans will be allowed to attend only the following four games:
Palermo-Empoli,
Roma-Parma,
Sampdoria-Ascoli
Torino-Reggina
All four games will be played during the day. Meanwhile, six games will take place behind closed doors:
Atalanta-Lazio,
Cagliari-Siena,
Chievo-Inter,
Fiorentina-Udinese,
Messina-Catania
Milan-Livorno.
Among other things this also means that Ronaldo will make his Milan debut behind closed doors.
The situation is actually worse in Serie B, where only Specia-Bologna and Lecce-Verona will be open to the public, with all other games,including Vicenza-Juventus, to be played in front of empty stands. |

If the committee confirms that the San Siro cannot host spectators, Inter and Milan might move their home Champions League ties to other stadiums.
Inter are considering the idea of playing the February 21 match with Valencia in Genoa or Palermo, whereas the Rossoneri might host Celtic on March 7 in France or Swizterland, where the probable solution might be the Wankdorf Stadion in Geneva.
UEFA will have to authorise the change of venue in both cases, but reports suggest that the governing body of European football does not see any problem in granting the San Siro outfits |
