Eidur Gudjohnsen is a transfer option for Barcelona as they bid to replace Henrik Larsson.
Villarreal's former Manchester United hitman Diego Forlan is the number one target for the newly-crowned European champs as they look for Larsson's successor.
But if that deal doesn't come off Chelsea's Icelandic international ace Gudjohnsen will be the next option.
According to Spanish daily Marca, Gudjohnsen is one of the names put forward by Barca coach Frank Rijkaard.
He has already been linked with Manchester United in the last few days, as part of a possible swap deal for Ruud van Nistelrooy.
Marca says Rijkaard met with Barca chiefs on Monday to plan for next season.
And with Larsson returning home to Sweden and Maxi Lopez also unlikely to be at the Nou Camp next season, the need for a new striker is clear.
Other possible targets are Real Zaragoza's Diego Milito as well as Juventus duo David Trezeguet and Zlatan Ibrahimovic. |

Barça sign Juve defensive stars
Barcelona have signed a deal with troubled Serie A club Juventus for Italy defender Gianluca Zambrotta and France defender Lilian Thuram, the Liga club said on Thursday.
Zambrotta, 29, has agreed a four-year contract while 34-year-old Thuram has negotiated a two-year deal.
Barça will reportedly pay 14 million euros for the Italian and five million for the Frenchman.
The pair won four league titles with Juventus but they were forced to consider their future at the club after the match-fixing scandal in Italy. Last week the club was ordered by a tribunal to start next season in Serie B with a 30 point deficit.
Zambrotta and Thuram will join up with the Barcelona squad in time for next month's pre-season tour of the United States and Mexico. |
