Trezeguet extends Juventus contract to 2011

Milito To Sign For Juve By Friday?
A directorate meeting will be held this morning at the official headquarter of the Bianconeri, were the transfer of Milito to the Old Lady will also be discussed.
It seems that Gabriel Milito is very close to sign for the Old Lady, as President Giovanni Cobolli Gigli told the journalists ahead of the directorate meeting which will be held this morning in the headquarters of the club.
Juventus are in fact expected to make a final offer of 17 million Euros to Real Zaragoza by Friday for the services of the Argentinean defender, but even if this deal does not go through, there is already a valid alternative.
"The Juve interest is concentrated on him," confirmed Cobolli Gigli. "But there's an economic limit over which we do not intend go. And in any case, we already have a very valid alternative."
This valid alternative is Pepe of Porto, where the Bianconeri are set to offer an amount of money plus Fabrizio Miccoli in order to convince the Portuguese club to let the player go.
This means that by the end of this week there will be important developments for the Bianconeri, with either Milito or Pepe heading towards Turin. |

Bookmakers Believe In Juve
Betting company Bwin published the first odds for the victory of next year's Serie A title.
Maybe it's because Arrigo Sacchi believed in it, or because David Trezeguet confirmed it, or perhaps because even president Giovanni Cobolli Gigli, who stated that the fourth place is the Bianconeri's "official" objective, secretly believes in it, the fact is that now the bookmakers are also believing in the possibility of Juventus winning the Scudetto in 2007/08.
Bwin have revealed the first odds for the winners of next year's Serie A. Obviously, these odds can and will vary during the course of the summer depending on the various signings clubs will make and also by the time the league starts, with the first results also liable to influence the odds.
At the moment the two clubs from Milan are still considered the favorites. Surprisingly enough it is Inter, not Milan, the club Bwin betting company are sponsors of, who are given the best odds to win the Serie A next year: 2,25, although Milan are not too far behind with 2,5. But Juventus, who at the start of the month were in double figures, have now gone down to 5.
In other words according to Bwin Juve have half as good a chance of winning the Scudetto as Milan, but they have a five times better chance of winning than Roma, who were Inter's only Scudetto rivals last year (well, until around January...), but are now given at 25 to 1. |

Trezeguet claims he snubbed United and Liverpool
David Trezeguet claims he spurned interest from Manchester United and Liverpool before signing a new contract with Juventus.
The 29-year-old France striker this week penned a new deal with the Turin giants, tying him to the club until June 2011.
He told L'Equipe: 'My father [and agent] told me I had other propositions from ambitious clubs like Manchester United, Liverpool and Barcelona.
'But as soon as Juventus showed their desire to keep me, I accepted immediately.'
Trezeguet, who helped the club regain their Serie A status at the first attempt following their demotion for match-fixing, was linked with a move away after manager Didier Deschamps departed to be replaced by Claudio Ranieri.
'I didn't want to leave Juve but I needed to get reassured by the officials,' Trezeguet added.
'The departure of Didier Deschamps did make things more complex but we finally all made efforts and came to an agreement.'
United chief executive David Gill has previously admitted the club would consider signing a new striker despite their recent spending spree, while Liverpool are desperate to bolster their forward line before the start of the new season. |
