1. But we all know that in early 2006 Scomi Engineering, controlled byKamaluddin, bought a 51% stake in Mtrans - manufacturer of monorailcoaches and trains - at the knock down fire sale price of RM31.0Million only. Why would Scomi want to buy a monorail manufacturer ? Isthere a huge demand for monorail systems in our country ?
But lo and behold the Government of Abdullah Badawi announced thatPenang would be getting a RM1.2 Billion monorail project. The KualaLumpur monorail line would also be extended and there will also be amonorail for Johor Bharu.
So lets see if MTrans-Scomi DOES NOT get the Penang Monorail contract ?Lets see if MTrans-Scomi DOES NOT get the contract for the Kuala LumpurMonorail Extension or the Johor Bharu Monorail project ?
Of course it will not be the Government that will award any of thesecontracts. It will be the GLCs stupid ! The GLCS which will become theConcessionaires of the Monorails and the LRTs like KLIG etc.
So if (its a very tiny 'if' ok ?) Scomi-Mtrans does happen to get themonorail contracts - Badawi will still be vindicated. There will be nofavouritism for his son because it was not the Government that awardedKamaluddin any monorail contracts but the Concessionaire GLCs !
Then Scomi-MTrans will cash out up front from the RM1.2 Billion or moreconstruction contract to build and put in place the Monorails.
Then the Concessionaire GLCs will be left to own and operate theMonorails. We know what that means ? The Monorails will most likelylose money and have to be rescued and bailed out somewhere down theline.
But the contractors like Scomi-MTrans would have cashed out way aheadof everyone else. But again all this may happen, only and only IFScomi-Mtrans is awarded the monorail projects.
The question is what is the probability of this NOT happening ?
2. Badawi also said that his son's Scomi does 80% of their oil and gasbusiness overseas and his son never got any help from the Govt. for hisoil business. But the market knows that Scomi is Petronas' number oneMalaysian based contractor who supplies almost anything Petronas needsin their overseas oil ventures. Wherever Petronas goes, Scomi follows.That is where the 80% of the son's business comes from. But Badawi willbe correct - it was Petronas who awarded the contract - NOT theGovernment.
Just like Khairy getting RM9.2 Million loan for 100% share financing.The Government did not guarantee that loan. However the Government (theFinance Minister Badawi) did approve for ECM Libra to take over AvenueCapital. But that is a story which Annuar Zaini conveniently forgot toask.

Bg aku lbh untung petronas jual terus crued oil tu ke luar...takyah susah2 buat bebanyak stesen minyak kat sini...buat tambah modal je....lagi senang kalau drill minyak pastu eksport terus..takyah susah2 tapis... |
