Christian Eriksen
Christian Eriksen has a list of admirers after emerging as one of the brightest young talents in Europe over the last few years. However, it is the Reds who appear to be in the driving seat after Ajax’s sporting director Marc Overmars admitted that scouts from the Anfield outfit had been to watch the Dane on a number of occasions. The 21-year-old attacking midfielder could take up a large chunk of Brendan Rodgers’s transfer budget, with any potential deal said to be worth around £20m.
Kyriakos Papadopoulos
With the Reds losing Jamie Carragher following his retirement, a replacement must be signed to offset the loss of the influential defender. Kolo Touré has already been brought in from Manchester City, but it is thought that the Ivorian will arrive as a squad player. Kyrakos Papadopoulos has been a reported target to fill the void left by Carragher’s departure. At just 20, the Greek is seen as a long-term addition; however doubts persist about the fiery temperament of the Schalke defender who has been dubbed “verrückt” (crazy) in Germany.
Henrikh Mkhitaryan
Henrikh Mkitaryan, a goal-scoring midfielder, is another reported big-money target for Rodgers this summer. The Armenia international scored 25 times last season for Shakhtar Donetsk to finish top of the Ukrainian goal-scoring charts. The Reds have been linked with a £22m move for the 24-year-old, who ended last season with 30 goals in all competitions. Mkhitaryan is also a three-time Armenian Footballer of the Year.
Iago Aspas
One deal which looks almost certain to be confirmed is the signing of Celta forward Iago Aspas. The Reds have reportedly tied-up a £7.7m deal for the versatile forward. The 25-year-old scored 12 goals in 34 appearances last season and helped Celta extend their stay in La Liga in a 1-0 against Espanyol on the final day of the campaign. Aspas will undergo a medical at Liverpool’s training ground Melwood, and should become a Reds player before the end of the week.
Carlos Tévez
A potential deal that perhaps could be labelled as an ‘outside bet’, the Reds have been linked with a move for the Manchester City striker Carlos Tévez in the event of Luis Suarez’s exit from the club. The Uruguayan forward recently stated his desire to leave England at a news conference in his homeland, and Tévez has reportedly been earmarked as his replacement. Tévez has just a year left on his contract and could be worth as little as £8m. However a potential stumbling block is the player’s eye-watering £200,000 per-week wages. |

Peter Gulacsi has left Liverpool to join Red Bull Salzburg in Austria
Liverpool goalkeeper Peter Gulacsi has joined Austrian side Red Bull Salzburg on a free transfer.
The 23-year-old Hungarian has signed a four-year deal at Red Bull after impressing on trial. Although he figured on the bench, he failed to make the breakthrough at Anfield.
Sporting director Ralf Rangnick said: ‘He was here for a three-day trial where we watched him very closely. We are convinced that he has great potential.
