Barcelona coach praises Saviola

Barcelona coach Frank Rijkaard praised Javier Saviola after yesterday's Super Copa defeat to Espanyol.
Saviola struggled after being given a rare start by Rijkaard, but the Barca trainer said: "My perception of Saviola has not changed.
"He is a great player who deserves to play more. He has decided to stay and we're dealing with this situation normally.
"Despite not playing much, he didn't lack form and has played very well. He has created moments of danger. He is a great player."

6th September 2006: Barca loses Copa Catalunya Final against Espanyol
FC Barcelona lost 1-0 against RCD Espanyol in the local Copa Catalunya Final in Girona last night. Ferr醤 "Coro" Corominas scored the winner in the 40th minute.
Espanyol might have been out for some revenge due to the two matches lost in the Sanish Super Cup Final about two weeks ago but the defeat did not cause any upset for FC Barcelona because 13 first team players had been on international duties. Barca fielded a team of youngsters, strengthened by Saviola, Giuly, Belletti, Sylvinho, Ezquerro and Thiago Motta.
The only goal of the game came in the 40th minute when Brazilian defender Juliano Belletti headed the ball on to Corominas, who shot the ball past Albert Jorquera and up in to the right side of the goal.
Barca deserved a better result, especially in the second half. Barca coach Frank Rijkaard was able to give a number of hopeful Barca talents a run-out. Sastre, Olmo, Crosas, Dimas and Jeffren all gained valuable first team experience.
French winger Giuly had the best chances for Barca and missed already 3 good opportunities, when Motta had the "golden chance" to take the game to a penalty shoot-out, when he fired the ball over the crossbar from near the penalty spot in the 89th minute.
Espanyol´s Ito was sent off 5 minutes before the final whistle for his second bookable offence, a tackle on Syvlinho with four minutes remaining.

Barca announce Unicef shirt deal
Barcelona forward Ronaldinho in club colours
Ronaldinho and co will wear the new shirt from next Tuesday
Champions League winners Barcelona have signed a shirt deal with international children's welfare body Unicef.
Barca president Joan Laporta announced the historic deal in Paris on Wednesday - Unicef's will be the first name to appear on front of the club's shirt.
"It's an historic agreement which shows the world our club is more than just a club," said Laporta, who was re-elected as Barcelona president in August.
"It's an initiative with soul. Barca can help the children of the world."
He added: "It's an historic moment as it is a prestigious logo and not just a publicity brand.
"It's an honour to wear the Unicef logo because it's an agreement without precedent for Unicef as well."
Founded in 1899, Barcelona have always resisted the temptation to have a paying shirt sponsor, although the team has advertised Catalan station TV3 on the left sleeve since 2005.

Aku tak rasa Van Bommel ni defensive midfielder sgt...
aku suka tengok Van Bommel nih.. time kat PSV tu bila dia partner dgn Vogel memang gerun.. vogel duduk bawah jadi DMC.. bommel atas sikit support forward.. tu pasal banyak score utk PSV..
