KUALA LUMPUR: S-2-diisopropylamino ethyl methylphosphonothioate atau agen saraf VX ialah bahan kimia yang sangat toksik dan beracun. Menurut Pusat Kawalan dan Penghalang Penyakit di Amerika Syarikat, kegunaan agen ini hanya dikenal pasti sebagai senjata peperangan sahaja, tidak mempunyai rasa dan bau serta mempunyai warna seperti ambar atau kuning jingga. Symptom agen ini boleh dilihat seawal beberapa saat atau dalam beberapa minit sehingga kepada 18 jam bergantung kepada cara individu itu terdedah. Jika individu yang terdedah kepada bahan kimia dalam dos rendah dan sederhana sama ada secara sedutan, penyerapan oleh kulit atau tertelan mungkin mengalami simptom seperti berikut; Tekanan darah yang tinggi atau rendah secara abnormal, penglihatan menjadi kabur, sakit di dada, batuk, diarea, mengantuk, sakit dalam mata, sakit kepala, kerap mahu kencing, muntah, hidung berair, pernafasan laju, mata berair dan degupan jantung menjadi laju atau perlahan. Bagaimanapun, jika seseorang terdedah kepada jumlah dos yang lebih tinggi, ia mungkin boleh mengakibatkan sawan, pengsan, lumpuh dan kegagalan untuk bernafas yang boleh menyebabkan kematian. Di Malaysia, bahan kimia ini disenaraikan sebagai senjata kimia mengikut Jadual 1, Akta Konvensyen Senjata Kimia 2005. Agen saraf VX yang diletakkan di bawah Jadual 1 turut diklasifikasikan sebagai agen kawalan rusuhan. Mengikut akta terbabit, bahan kimia ini kecuali bagi tujuan mengekalkan dan memelihara ketenteraman awam, tiada seorang pun boleh menggunakan sesuatu agen kawalan rusuhan sebagai kaedah perang. Mana-mana individu yang melanggar subseksyen (1) melakukan suatu kesalahan dan apabila disabitkan dihukum dengan hukuman penjara selama tempoh tidak melebihi tiga puluh tahun atau didenda tidak melebihi satu juta ringgit atau kedua-duanya

Korean agents (planners & killers). The symptom of heart attack was consistent with VX's effect. It can can be handled safely without touching handler's skin since one drop would kill. There should be an international outcry, especially U.N. against one of its member , The DPRK. Communist China got bitten twice so far since two N. Korean China's sympathizers were killed recently by the young fat dictator Kim, dis uncle and half-step brother. killing: Chemicals found in KL condo

KUALA LUMPUR, Feb 24 — Police seized an undisclosed number of chemicals from a condominium in Jalan Klang Lama on Wednesday, according to an agency source after it was revealed that the VX nerve agent was used to kill Kim Jong-nam.
According to The Star newspaper, police also arrested a Malaysian man during the raid over suspicions that he may be involved in the alleged assassination of the half-brother to North Korea’s leader, Kim Jong-un.
Police also recovered chemistry equipment and protective gear from the condominium.
“Police are not ruling out the possibility that the Malaysian man might have expertise in chemistry,” a source was quoted as saying.
Inspector-General of Police Tan Sri Khalid Abu Bakar today revealed that the chemical weapon was used to kill Jong-nam and said investigators are trying to determine how the powerful neurotoxin was brought into Malaysia.
The toxin is classified as a weapon of mass destruction according to international conventions. Restrictions on its production and storage make the substance rare and available only to highly-militarised states.

Jong-nam died a 'horribly painful' death, says toxicologist
PETALING JAYA: North Korean Kim Jong-nam (pic), who was assassinated at the KL International Airport 2 on Feb 13, would have died a "horribly painful" death, says former USM toxicologist Dr Dzulkefly Ahmad.
He told The Star Online that the VX nerve agent used on Jong-nam was so potent that his assassins would have needed no more than 10 to 15 mg for it to have been lethal.
Dr Dzulkefly said VX acts on the nervous system, jamming it and causing the victim to die of suffocation within minutes or seconds after contact.
"It is a very frightening agent. It was used in chemical warfare and I was a part of the team that studied it for the Iran-Iraq war in the 1980s.
"In this case, from what I see, it was dermal inhalation, which means it must be acute toxicity.
"These neurotoxic agents act on enzymes of the neurochemical system, which then attempt to shut down your system. This is when the victim goes through suffocation and will eventually collapse," he said.
On Friday, Inspector-General of Police Tan Sri Khalid Abu Bakar confirmed that VX was the poison used to kill Jong-nam, the estranged half-brother of North Korean leader Kim Jong-un.
He later said that one of the two women who staged the attack was unwell as a result of poisoning from the same chemical.
Dr Dzulkefly said that at present, there is no antidote for high dosages of the VX agent.
On the women who attacked Jong-nam - Vietnamese Doan Thi Huong, 28, and Indonesian Siti Aisyah, 25 - the former professor said they could not have touched the chemical with their bare hands or even normal gloves as VX can be absorbed through the skin and causes severe poisoning.
"The women who put the chemical on his face must have guarded themselves well and must have contained the liquid well until the point they had to put it on his face."
On one of the two women vomiting because of exposure to the chemical in a low dosage, Dr Dzulkefly said it was one of the effects of VX.
"It happens when they are not properly protected. You can have diarrhoea and vomiting. But such levels of exposure would not lead to death as there are antidotes for it.
"But when the dosage is massive (10mg or above), then it is lethal," he said.
Jong-nam was attacked by the two women at KLIA2 on Feb 13 just before he was to board his flight to Macau.
He died en route to Hospital Putrajaya after he was brought to the airport clinic and found to have drifted into a coma
