Nadirah's family griefs for her death
JOHOR BARU: Family members of Nurul Nadhirah Abdullah could not contain their sorrow when informed by police that the charred remains of a person found at an oil palm plantation in Nusa Damai, Pasir Gudang near here on March 8, were hers.
There was little relatives and neighbours could do to console Roselyn Alan, 25, the mother of the five-year-old girl, whose nickname is Dirang.
Roselyn also passed out for a while after sobbing uncontrollably for more than hour after the police phoned the family at 6.40pm today confirming DNA test results by the Chemistry Department showed the remains were that of the
unfortunate girl, who went missing on March 1.
The atmosphere was one of deep grief at the family's home at the Seri Delima Flats in Bandar Seri Alam near here which was full of relatives, neighbours and members of the media.
Roselyn's crying in a bedroom at the flat could be heard in the living room leading to many of those present unable to hold back their tears.
Roselyn and her husband Lima Medeng, 25, were too distraught to speak to reporters.
Dirang's grandmother Milnah Jul, 56, said she was outside the flat when police called Roselyn to deliver the sad news.
"Roselyn called me to relay the news and all of us in the family were shocked to hear it because prior to this, police had told us that the remains found at the scene were of an adult person," said Milnah, who was unable to contain her emotions and had to adjourn to the bedroom sobbing.
A neighbour, Noridah Juliri, 44, said she came to know about the matter late this evening and immediately came to Roselyn's house to console and support the family in their hour of need.
Dirang was reported missing after going out of her home at around 11am to buy instant noodles and eggs at a grocery shop nearby.
Police have called up four people to assist investigations into the case which now has been re-classified from missing person to murder. -- BERNAMA
