"RAJU CHACHA IS MY DREAM PROJECT?"

Kajol Says She Will Not Quit Films?

No glam doll, Kajol has always been her own woman. Picking it up from her star-mother Tanuja, she has never cared for anything other than her work. A pure professional, neither does she care a hoot about what people say and think about her. All through her growing years, she has lived life at her own terms doing only those films that she believed in. As an actress, she has refused to be shackled by social conventions, audience expectations and industry stereotypes. A girl with varied interests in life, Kajol hopes to act in a play eventually. The only thing that has kept her away from doing that has been her stage fright. A voracious reader, she may even go on to write a book someday when she decides upon a subject for her book.

'RAJU CHACHA', produced by her husband Ajay Devgan, is a film that she is very eager to see released. She is confident about the film's merit and is sure that it will prove to be a memorable experience for the audience. After 'RAJU CHACHA' she will only have Rahul Rawail's 'KHATTI MEETHIE' and Karan Johar's 'KABHI KHUSHI KABHI GHAM' to be released. The good news for all her fans is that she is not planning to quit films and will continue to do a few but selected films.

Q) How will you describe 'RAJU CHACHA'?

A) 'RAJU CHACHA' is like a dream come true. To translate this dream on film, we had to put in a lot of effort and time. It means a lot of things to me and a lot of feelings are attached with 'RAJU CHACHA'. To describe some of these feelings I don'yt even have appropriate words. But doing the film is an experience I will cherish all my life.

Q) How will you describe your character in the film?

A) I play the character of a girl called Anna. She is one of those types of people who have immense faith in mankind and love life. She is amazingly optimistic and sincerely believes that every problem has a solution. Mr. God is the constant and closest companion of this girl who is a down-to-earth person and likes to share love and happiness. She is the type of girl with whom you can't stop falling in love if you meet her somewhere.

Q) Since the role seems so close to your real self, doing it must have been a cakewalk for you?

A) No, that's not true, we had to work real hard on the film. A lot of thought went in deciding a personality for Anna and also on reactions to every situation in the film. It was definitely a challenge to do the role.

Q) How much do you think you have grown as an actress?

A) I think I have grown as a person with this film because besides being its lead actress I was also producing it and this experience will go a long way.

Q) What made you take up 'RAJU CHACHA' at a time when you were refusing other films?

A) It was not that I did not want to do any more films. But I guess I needed a break so I was not doing any new film for a little while. When I heard the story and the character of the main girl I felt like doing the film.

Q) What really fascinated you about your character to agree to do it?

A) Actually, when my husband gave me the first narration it was to seek my opinion about who I felt should be cast in Anna's role. But after the narration was over I was so impressed with the character of Anna that I straightaway told him that it should me. The best part about the character is that it is very believable, apart from the overall character there were certain scenes that were totally new to me and I really felt like wanting to do the film. It is not that this girl is the central character because every character in the film, whether it is the kids, the butler in the house or even a little dog , have substantial and well defined roles to play as per the script. And the way the script was narrated to me I felt even if we came close to 90% in actual execution, our goal would be achieved. So I wanted to be a part of the film.

Q) How was it working under Anil Devgan who was not only a first time director but is also related to you?

A) I have known Anil for quite sometime and like him as person. He was involved in the making of 'PYAAR TO HONA HI THA', due to which I had some working experience with him. So, working under his direction was not difficult despite the fact that he is a very tough task master. He wants exactly what he has in mind and if he is unable to do it then he gets upset. So he keeps on working at it till he has got a particular thing right. He's very sincere to his job and at times very generous too with his actors.

Q) What do you think is the U.S.P. of 'RAJU CHACHA'?

A) I think the most unique thing about 'RAJU CHACHA' is that it is a film that has been made with a lot of dedication. We have tried not to stretch things, but to be precise and brief in what we want to convey. It is a very polished product. Unfortunately, there have been people who say that it is inspired from ,SOUND OF MUSIC, but those are mere rumors. The only things that seems to be common between the two films is that both the films have a governess along with three kids as its key characters. The music too of both the films is very good but as a film,'SOUND OF MUSIC' is a classic and I hope 'RAJU CHACHA' proves to be one too.

Q) How much do you think you have evolved as an actress, from the time you did your first film?

A) From 'BEKHUDI' to 'RAJU CHACHA', I think I have gained a lot in terms of experience and would prefer to call this period as a growing up exercise. Because of this experience I feel a lot older than my actual age. I think I am much more mature and responsible than the girls of my age. But I have enjoyed every moment of this growing up exercise. Fortunately, I was successful in what I did and that made me grow up even faster.

Q) Has all this experience resulted in a change of approach?

A) No, except the fact that I have become more selective about the roles I want to do now nothing much has changed. Today, I am in a position where I don't need to compromise and settle for characters that don't have any meat in them. I don't mind just one film in a year but it should be a fantastic role and subject.

Q) What kind of homework do you do before you go to report for a shooting?

A) I believe in spontaneity and rely on my instincts. The only thing that I go through before starting to shoot for a film is that I ask for a complete script narration. After the narration is over I discuss my role and if there are any things that I feel would be uncomfortable for me, I let the director know about it. That's the only preparation I do for a film.

Q) Do you follow the papers/magazines and read about the things written about you?

A) Yes, I do that sometimes but except for writing, 'Kajol is a good actress', the media never has anything good to write about me.

Q) Do the bad things written about you upset you?

A) No, they don't, because I don't take them seriously.

Q) Currently, one has been reading that you have stopped signing films and are planning to have a baby?

A) Well, maybe, I will do that but I am not sure about that. The press has already got me pregnant four times. I definitely would like to have a baby but I will do it when I want to have it rather than have the press make me do it.

Q) What is your reaction when you read reports suggesting that your husband opposes the thought of you acting with Shah Rukh Khan?

A) That's again pure nonsense. My husband is too mature to even think something like that. Doing such a thing would be so unethical and unprofessional, and my husband is far too principled a man to do that. He has never tried to interfere in my professional matters and lets me handle them on my own.

Q) Is it true that you were considering taking voluntary retirement after your marriage?

A) That again is not true. Because after my marriage all I wanted was a break. I wanted to spend time with myself and experience normal day to day life once again. Because before marriage I had got so busy that I hardly used to have time for myself. I was living out of a suitcase and I wanted to get out of it. I just wanted to relax a little and enjoy my marriage before I got back to work. That's the reason why I was not signing any new film.

Q) Is it difficult to handle acting and production simultaneously?

A) It is not at all difficult if you can balance them out. Function-wise, they follow the same principles, in the sense that you require perseverance, intelligence and ability to look into details. If you can do that, handling both the things simultaneously is not going to be difficult.

Q) After becoming an actress you turned a producer, so what else has the future got in store for you?

A)Seriously, I would like to act in a play one day when I get over my stage fright. I am too scared to face a live crowd. Apart doing stage I may even write a book someday. The only thing that I'm sure I will never do in life is direct films. Because I don't think I have an attitude or aptitude to do that. I would be all at sea to tell the cinematographer which lens has to be used for a particular shot.

Q) Would you like to recount any particular incident that happened during the making of 'RAJU CHACHA'?

A) 'RAJU CHACHA' has a lot of memories. Like we were shooting at this church in Austria which I think is one of the most beautiful churches in the world. The atmosphere in the church was awesome and you were in an altogether different world. At the end of the shoot we met the priest and he informed us that the entire church was done in wood. And we really could not believe it because all the stones and marbled floors and walls were actually made of wood.

SHILPA:UP AND RUNNING

Shilpa Shetty is on her toes again, all set to breast the tape at the box office. Many were writing her off after her break-up with action hero Akshay Kumar. But, no. She is not going to accept defeat so easily. She has decided not to accept films which have her just running around trees. She is looking for meatier roles and taking great care in selecting her banners and directors. This positive outlook has earned her a film with Salman Khan and there are more in the bag that can change her stars.

"Yes, I am considering a lot of facts nowadays before signing a film." she says confidently. My last film 'Dhadkan' was a turning point in my career. It gave me the confidence that I can also do roles which have a lot to offer. Director Dharmesh Darshan gave me a new look life and I got a good response for this film from my fans.. It helped me change my priorities a lot. He made me think about acting very seriously. The fact is that Mr.Darshan is an actress's director. Look at the way he presented Karishma Kapoor in 'Raja Hindustani' It was after this film only that Karishma got a boost to the top level."

So, the changed atmosphere has helped her a lot?

"Of course", bubbly Shilpa smiles. "I bagged a film with Salman Khan just after that film. This was produced by Bubby Kent. Then I signed Mukta Arts' 'Badhai Ho Badhai', directed by Satish Kaushik. Satish is a marvelous director. He presents his heroines in totally different manner. If you recall his 'Hum Aapke Dil Mein Rehte Hain' and 'Hamara Dil Aapke Paas Hai', you can see the way he painted the characters of both Kajol and Aishwarya Rai.

What are the other assignments coming her way?

"I have some other projects on hand right now. I am very excited about this film by director Sanjay Khanna. I have signed this film with Chandrachur Singh. I play a tomboyish character in the first half of the film but after the interval the role becomes a serious one. Then there is a film with director Avi, who has been an assistant to Yash Chopra since a long time. He is very capable. He narrated the film story in such a manner that I got hooked to the project. Anupam Kher and Paresh Rawal play some hilarious characters in this film. Looking at all these films I can say that, yes, my career is on the upswing. I am not going to leave any stone unturned to prove myself as an actress this time."

After the break-up with Akshay, a lot has been said and written by the media about their relationship. She now shares good vibes with Pooja Batra and Raveena Tondon, also ex-girl friends of Akshay. Is it intentional?

Shilpa takes a deep breath: "I do not look back to the past. Whatever I have done then is not with me any more. So it is better to be prepared for the future. As for the friendship with Pooja and Raveena, let me tell you we have been very good friends for a long time. It was only that we did'nt have the time for get-togethers. Raveena and Pooja are doing one film together and recently we celebrated the occasion. We are good friends. We are in the same industry and it is better to have friends than to make enemies."

So what will Shilpa be five years from now?

She laughs, `Who has seen the future? But, yes. I certainly will be at a better phase in my career. I am looking forward to that silver lining."

KAREENA CONCENTRATES ON HER CAREER

She looks as if she was born to show biz. And to the movie camera as well. A dreamy, hazel-eyed beauty, Kareena Kapoor is the latest from the RK stable to enter the glamour world of Bollywood. Like her elder sister Karisma, she too is attracting a lot of attention. She made her debut with the other star kid, Abhishek Bachchan, in J.P. Dutta's 'Refugee'. While Abhishek's career is at stake after three flops in a row, including 'Tera Jadoo Chal Gaya' with Kirti Reddy and 'Dhaai Akshar Prem Ke' with Aishwarya Rai, Kareena's career is yet to take off. Her performance in 'Refugee' though was appreciated.

So, how does she feel after getting a lot of praise for her debut film? And how does she rate herself as an actress?

"Well, 'Refugee' was a great film as far as Abhishek and I were concerned. J.P. uncle gave us a break without any of our capabilities proved. I am indeed grateful to him. It was a good experience to work with a talented director like him." What if J.P.Dutta wants to cast her in his next movie? "I haven't heard anything from J.P.uncle so far. But, I have come to know that he has yet to start his next project. If he asks me to work in his next film, I will feel honored."

In Hindi cinema newcomers hesitate in accepting roles based on the past. Even Abhishek could not make up his mind about starting his career with 'Aakhiri Mughal', a project of J.P.Dutta. Then how come she has accepted a role in Shahrukh Khan's 'Ashoka'? Isn't it too early to jump into that category of film?

"I do not like movies being categorized in that way. For me, a movie is just a movie. Yes, I do believe in good cinema and that is the only criteria for selection of my roles. And, let me tell you, 'Ashoka' is just not a period movie. It is a kind of love story set in the past." What role does she play in this movie? "I play the role of a princess who comes into the emperor's life and makes him see the world in a different light. Director Santosh Sivan has put in a lot of effort to make it a world-class movie."

It was rumored that Kareena had some differences with the producer and actor Shahrukh Khan. What are her comments?

"Nothing," Kareena says curtly. "This is just the product of the gossip mill in Mumbai. They always want to create a problem between us stars, but I have no differences either with the film's director or producer."

Kareena is also working in a thriller, 'Ajnabi', with the director duo Abbas-Mustan, who in past have made hits like 'Khiladi' and 'Baazigar'. In this film her co-stars are Bobby Deol, Akshay Kumar and Bipasha Basu. There was also news that Kareena had some problems with Bipasha Basu on the sets of this movie in London. What is the truth behind this? "From where do you people get all this news?"

She looks angry. "I enjoyed working with this team a lot. There were some scene with Bipasha in which I thought some improvements were needed and I conveyed my thoughts to the director. There was nothing like a clash with any of the other stars. In fact, Bobby helped me out a lot in some scenes. Directors like Abbas-Mustan are rare in Bollywood. They put lot of thought into a scene. They are so well prepared on the sets."

And what is the role of Kareena in the movie 'Mujhe Kuch Kehna Hai', in which Jeetendra's son Tushaar is her co-star?

"Oh! He is a great guy to know. We are known to each other since our childhood. My mom Babita and Tushaar's father Jeetendra have been co-stars in the past and it is nice for us to be paired in a great movie. For this, the credit goes to Vashuji. Satish Kaushik is directing film and I am doing the role of a college girl. This is a movie people are going to love."

How does Kareena see herself five years from now?

"Just as a good actress. You see I have never dreamt of becoming a star. I look forward to some well-written roles."

Will Isha rise again?

Ram Gopal Verma's khallas girl of the 'Kaante' fame Isha Koppikar did shake up the industry with her item numbers and shot to fame followed soon by her bold roles in 'Girlfriend'. Later, she acted as vamp or in item numbers. However, she feels that she should follow her other colleagues like Mallika Sherawat or Bipasha Basu of the ' Khwahish', 'Jism' and 'Murder' fame. Yes, she should rise again with her past sparkle, what may come, to return to work rather than languish in wilderness.

Had she not married

The film industry is of the view that Kajol would have been the queen bee of Bollywood had she not been married. Yes, this elder daughter of Tanuja had been a craze with her films beginning from 'Jadugar'. Who denies that her pair with Shah Rukh had put the tinsel world on fire? After her marriage with Ajay Devgan she has been fully devoting herself to the well being of her daughter and the family. She had few super hits with Ajay too like 'Pyaar To Hona Hi Tha' and 'Ishq'.

Bindas Saif

Saif Ali Khan is becoming a bindas. This has happened after his separation from his ex-wife Amrita Singh following their 13-year old successful and happy marriage. Saif was recently seen in a disco with his new girlfriend Rosa. He has been there in connection with the shoot of Vidhu Vinod Chopra's movie. However, he fell in love with Rosa and was completely lost in it. Luckily, he is doing quite well in his filmi career as is evident from his hit movies like 'Kal Ho Naa Ho', 'Dil Chahta Hai' and 'Ek Hasina Thi'. Sio, that's why he is bindas!

Tabu needs assignment

Poor Tabu is facing bad days now. She has no films on hand or under production. The media makes no mention of her though she is a National Award winner for her acting in her famous 'Chandni Bar'. Besides, she has no boyfriend at present, it is said. She is all-alone. The reports of her affair first with Madhur Bhandarkar during 'Chandni Bar' and later with Sajid Nadiadwala have also not borne any fruit. She felt upset when Madhur signed on Raveena Tandon for his 'Satta. So, she quit her friendship with him. Now, Tabu has matured, but is unable to settle down like her other colleagues-Karisma Kapoor, Raveena Tandon, Madhuri Dixit etc. All the heroines who cross 30 years of age either settle down after their marriage or enter into film production to earn their livelihood. Tabu is unable to do either. Today, the trend in the industry is for young and fresh faces to outdo each other by their bold, sexy and body exposures. How can the one time National Award winner stoop so low as to return to films of this genre. The producers and the directors should consider signing such a talented actress in their movies, which the audience is awaiting to watch.

Priyanka becomes Akshay's wife in reel life!

Beauty queen Priyanka Chopra is a very ambitious girl. Once she thought of becoming an engineer and soon dreamt of marrying Prince William of England and being crowned as a princess. Anyway, what happened in her real life is no less brighter. She entered into films with a bang and soon shot to fame with her movies. She has never felt insecure in films. She believes in work and only work. After her hit 'Mujhse Shaadi Karogi', she got too busy in the arc lights of cinema shoots from one to the other movie. She also got involved in her extra-movie activities of socializing or attending stage shows and other celebrations In fact, she began with body exposure in her movies and got extraordinary publicity. She excelled her colleague Lara Dutta in her bold and provocative dresses. She also acted as a traditional Indian woman, and says that one could create a sex appeal not by scanty dresses but through her eyes too. There is another side of her character. She writes poetry, both in her happy as well as tense mood. However, she hasn't expressed herself at the stage.

Though she did not succeed in becoming the princess of England, she has at least become wife of Khiladi hero Akshay Kumar though in reel life only. This is despite Akshay's wife Twinkle getting upset on media reports of affairs between Akshay and Priyanka. This is the hottest pair of Bollywood today, and the producers as well as the distributors consider it a hot cake and are crazy to sign this pair. After successes in 'Andaaz', 'Mujhse Shaadi Karogi' and 'Aitraaz' at the box office, Priyanka is climbing on the top. Though Salman stole Priyanka in 'Mujhse Shaadi Karogi' from Akshay, and in 'Aitraaz' she charged Akshay of raping her. But at last she got the most cherished role of becoming wife of Akshay in Vipul Shah's 'Vaqt'. So, she is very happy with her filmi life.

Mahima and Gulshan in 'Sautan-The Other Woman'

A new movie titled' Sautan --The Other Woman' is in the offing. We witnessed its shooting near a temple about 30km away from Bikaner in Rajasthan. Among the prominent stars are Mahima Chaudhary, Padmani Kolhapuri and Kiran among females, and Gulshan Grover, Shakti Kapoor and Vikram Singh among males. Vikram is acting in the role of Raj. Besides this movie, Vikram is also acting in ' Mumbai Godfather' and 'Atma' of Deepak Ramsay. Mahima Chaudhary is wife of Bollywood's badman Gulshan Grover.

The producer is a well know house of film distributors of Rajasthan, owned by Naveen Tak. Sanjay and Tanu Agarwal, the marble king of India, have presented the movie. Naveen Tak is busy in making three films-'Ashiqui-The Burning Story', 'Daag-The Shades' and 'Sautan-The Other Woman'. Tak says that he has recently shifted from film distribution to film production as he feels that being a distributor himself he can better read the taste of film watchers. He adds that he has titled his films on the basis of their themes.

Karan Rajdan, famous for his 'Hawas' and 'Girlfriend' is directing the movies. Besides, he is also directing 'Janoon'. Karan Rajdan says that 'Sautan' is completely a family movie, and free from any type of vulgarity. When asked about the shooting there, he said that Mahima Chaudhary and Vikram Singh driving a car have been picturized in a scene. When Mahima drives the car, Vikram cautions her against rash driving and when Vikram drives it, Mahima fears and warns him against driving too fast. Thus, both of them have a good fun. Mahima plays wife of Gulshan Grover who is acting for Thakur Ranvir Singh. According to the story, Mahima is too impressed by Vikram Singh in their first meeting, and loses her heart to him. Mahima said, " I am playing a gray shade character in a movie for the first time. Vikram Singh acts in the role of Raj. Vikram is also acting in two other movies at present.

They are 'Mumbai Godfather' and 'Atma' of Deepak Ramsay. After a long gap, Padmani Kolhapuri is back on the screen. Earlier also, she acted in a movie titled 'Sautan'. She is also working with Karan Rajdan in his 'Janoon'. When asked about her role, Padmani says she is not a sautan (step wife), but helps her Devar (younger brother of husband) get rid off the clutches of a sautan. Shakti Kapoor acts as Padmani's husband. He laughs and repeats an old saying that saali (sister of wife) is equivalent to half wife. Interestingly, Shakti Kapoor is jeeja (brother-in-law) of Padmini in real life too. So, he jokes that he has made his saali as her gharwali (wife) in the movie at least!

Among the other cast are Kiran and Gaurav Dixit who play important roles. This is to remind that Kiran has acted earlier in Subhash Ghai's 'Yaadein' and Raj Kumar Kohli's 'Jaani Dushman' besides doing ten-twelve movies in south India.

John is a real hero

Model-turned-actor John Abraham is strong, both physically and mentally. Not in the distant past, he taught a lesson to college boys who were trying to tease Bipasha Basu in a restaurant. John showed them his muscle power. So, he is a hero in the real life too. If we search for good looks among heroes, he would be chosen first. Only John could be noticed in 'Jism' though the whole movie was overcast with Bipasha. He is mentally very strong, as he doesn't get into unnecessary controversies like others in the industry. Though an MBA, he entered modeling and then soon shifted to movies to fulfill his cherished desire of becoming a hero.

Dino Morea does stunts too

Dino Morea has decided to do stunts himself in his movie to give then authenticity. Why not? He is one of the few well-bodied heroes of the tinsel world. He was talking about his forthcoming 'Gumnaam'. He has done a very tough job in it like hanging upside-down from a cliff and that too at a height of 200 feet!

Ghai snubs Vivek Oberoi

The younger actors in the tinsel town are changing too fast and for the worse. They do not show adequate respect for their elders. Vivek Oberoi had only recently showed disrespect to Big B. Now, he has said something to showman Subhash Ghai, it seems. How else Ghai would keep Vivek, the hero of his movie 'Kisna', away from all the functions related to 'Kisna'. When Vivek offered to take part in the promotional activities of their movie ' Kisna', Subhash Ghai only expressed "No thanks".

Rakesh's another for Hrithik

Rakesh Roshan has commenced work on his yet untitled movie starring Rekha, Priyanka Chopra and Hrithik Roshan in the lead roles. This will be his third venture for his son Hrithik following the success of his 'Kaho Naa Pyar Hai' and 'Koi Mil Gaya'. Rakesh has already recorded the movie's first song sung by Shreya Ghoshal and Sonu Nigam, for which Ibrahim Ashq has written lyrics. Hrithik has meanwhile declined several offers only to concentrate on his papa's movie that have always brought him luck.

Abhishek sings too

Though Abhishek says he is no singer, yet he is reported to have obliged his director of 'Bunty Aur Babli'. The junior Bachchan has sung a Bihari song in the movie. When asked Abhishek had said that he would never sing unless it is essential in the movie. Do we take it that his song was a vital part of the movie?

Akshay hesitant to pair with Priyanka

Khiladi Akshay Kumar is cut up with the media and does not want to interact with it. He feels that the media is writing too much about his personal life without any rhyme or reason. The recent media reports about the affair between him and Priyanka Chopra have cautioned him. 'Aitraaz' starring Akshay and Priyanka has fared very well at the box office. As a result the directors and the producers are making a queue to sign this pair, which they consider is the hottest at present. However, Akshay Kumar is worried about the reaction of his star wife Twinkle, who is very upset following reports in the media about her husband affair's with Priyanka. So Akshay is reluctant to sign any movie opposite Priyanka Chopra.

Sunny looking for a story to act with dad

Sunny Deol is the only actor who hasn't lost his fans yet. Even now the audience cheers him up by clapping in cinema halls whenever he delivers dialogues. Many of his contemporaries have, however, disappointed their fans, and have disappeared from the scene. In his 'Rok Sako To Rok Lo', Sunny looks top class when seen driving his Harley Davidson motorbike. Many girls turn crazy to watch tattoos on his muscles. At present, Sunny has been shooting for his next 'Jo Bole So Nihal' in London. When asked about his movie along with his star father Dharmendra, Sunny said, " We are looking for a good story. We shall not choose a weak one in a hurry though. That's why the movie is being delayed."

ONLY MADHURI CAN VALUE MY ART: HUSSAIN

Painter M.F. Hussain says that actress Madhuri Dixit is the only person who can truly appreciates his art, and his relationship with Madhuri Dixit is that of an artist with his or her art. Every relationship is imparted some name like the one between afatherand son, mother and son, husband and wife and brother and sister. However, it's difficult to name the relationship between the artist and the art. Similar is the case of a relation between a painter and his or her painting. A painter's painting and an artist's art are like the lover and the beloved.

Hussain says, " When I saw Madhuri in' Hum Aap Ke Hain Kaun' I found that she is the object of my imagination. I was on the look out for such a beauty. Any other person couldn't see whatever I saw in Madhuri. I decided to shoot the camera in my movie titled 'Gajgamini'. During my first meeting with her, I found her an innocent and bubbly. Though I had seen these qualities the on screen, yet I was excited to find that these were natural in her character. So I decided to draw her these qualities on the canvas. To a great extent I succeeded in doing it. All her traits can be seen in my painting."

Hussain adds that his relationship with Madhuri is that of a poet with his poetry. "You may give it any name. I can claim that she is the true valuer of my art. I have never seen anyone else whatever I find in Madhuri. She is the most beautiful person I have ever come across."

SRK WAS DESTINED TO DO 'SWADES'

What man proposes God disposes is a saying. It's not wrong though. Ashutosh Gowarikar wished his 'Lagaan's hero Aamir Khan to produce his next 'Swades' too. Ashutosh had written the script and offered the lead role to Aamir, but the latter sought more time, as he was busy in view of the 'Lagaan' being nominated to Oscars. When Aamir returned India empty handed, Ashutosh offered him again, but he neither accepted it nor declined it. Really speaking, Aamir did not want to do a film on the subject of a village for a few years after doing 'Lagaan'. He made it clear to Ashutosh too. Meanwhile, he signed Bobby Bedi's mega film 'The Rising' at a record price. This was a great shock for Ashutosh, who then offered the lead role to Hrithik Roshan. The latter heard the script and sought a week's time to make up his mind.

After a week Ashutosh visited Hrithik again, who though praised the script, but declined to act in it. This left no choice for Ashutosh except involving his long lost friend Shah Rukh Khan. SRK listened to the script and told his friend to get ready to resume shooting. Besides, SRK reduced his price and gave Ashutosh dates for three months at a time. Then, Ashutosh realized that Shah Rukh Khan was destined to do his film. Now, both SRK and Ashutosh are very happy that the movie is getting good reviews, and may emerge as the best movie of Shah Rukh until now.

Meanwhile, another movie in the form of Hindi version of Hollywood's 'The Incredibles' (Laajawab) is also releasing. In this movie SRK has taken part in it's dubbing along with his son Aryan. Thus his son has also entered into the industry. 'Laajawab' is an animated movie. It is said that SRK agreed to dub this film at the insistence of his son. Shah Rukh has bought advance tickets of this movie for his family.
