CASIS SATURDAY NIGHT LECTURE 8Th SERIES with Prof Dr Wan Mohd Nor Wan Daud

The series will be commencing our Saturday Night Lecture (CSNL) for its 8th series this Saturday 1st December 2018

These series of lectures are organized by the Centre for Advanced Studies on Islam, Science, and Civilization (CASIS) , which is a centre of excellence at the University Teknologi Malaysia (UTM) in collaboration with Ta'dib International Foundation, Himpunan Keilmuan Muslim (HAKIM) and Yayasan Raja Zarith Sofiah. CASIS aims to promote post-graduate scholarship and learning for the advancement of knowledge in the fields of study relating to Islam, science, and civilization and their allied sciences under the ambit of the worldview of Islam, in full cognizance of relevant developments in other civilizations especially in the contemporary world.

This particular 8th Series will revolve around the topic of the Crisis in Authority, Changes in Worldviews, Religions and Ethics, and Revitalization of Education.

The CSNL is a program that is open to academics, students, professionals and members of the public alike as we believe in developing a community that practices knowledge culture that holds strong to the right action (adab), values, and virtues based on knowledge and the concept of wasatiyyah that will strengthen the brotherhood, producing a harmonious and united community

SOALAN:

Assalamualaikum wrt. Dato' Mufti

Ana ingin bertanya tentang isu pembantu rumah. Apakah panduan terbaik dalam situasi di mana pembantu rumah berada sekali di dalam sebuah rumah bersama lelaki dan anak-anak kecil sekitar 2-5 tahun ketika isteri keluar bekerja (eg oncall, shift malam)? Bolehkah lelaki tersebut tinggal bersama anak2 di tingkat atas rumahnya manakala pembantu di tingkat bawah.

Apakah panduan terbaik untuk situasi sebegini?

Mohon jawapan pencerahan Dato Mufti.

JAWAPAN:

Waalaikumussalam wbt.

Pertama sekali, pastikan bilik antara pembantu rumah dan tuan rumah agak jauh, tidak berdekatan supaya terjaga batasan aurat dan pergaulan. Islam amat menitikberatkan piawaian aurat sekalipun antara pembantu rumah dengan tuan rumah kerana mereka ialah ajnabi.

Selain itu, walaupun mereka sebagai pembantu rumah tetapi mesti juga kita raikan hak-hak mereka agar sifat keihsanan dizahirkan. Benarlah nasihat Nabi SAW dalam hadis Abu Dzar al-Ghifari RA:

نَعَمْ، هُمْ إِخْوَانُكُمْ، جَعَلَهُمُ اللَّهُ تَحْتَ أَيْدِيكُمْ، فَمَنْ جَعَلَ اللَّهُ أَخَاهُ تَحْتَ يَدِهِ، فَلْيُطْعِمْهُ مِمَّا يَأْكُلُ، وَلْيُلْبِسْهُ مِمَّا يَلْبَسُ، وَلاَ يُكَلِّفُهُ مِنَ العَمَلِ مَا يَغْلِبُهُ، فَإِنْ كَلَّفَهُ مَا يَغْلِبُهُ فَلْيُعِنْهُ عَلَيْهِ

Maksudnya: Ya, mereka itu saudara-saudara kalian, Allah menjadikan mereka di bawah kekuasaan kalian, dan barangsiapa yang Allah jadikan saudaranya di bawah kekuasaan seseorang itu, maka berilah saudaranya makanan daripada apa yang dia makan, dan berikan saudaranya pakaian seperti apa yang dia pakai, janganlah beri dia tugasan yang dia tidak mampu laksanakan, jika seseorang itu memberikan pembantu itu tugas yang dia tidak mampu laksanakan, maka tolonglah pembantu itu.”  

Hadis riwayat Imam al-Bukhari (6050) dalam Sahih-nya.

Penting juga bagi suami untuk menjarakkan lagi hubungan dengan pembantu rumah wanita khususnya apabila jika isteri tidak ada di rumah. Kita tidak mahu didosakan akibat cuai menjaga batasan. Selain itu, setiap pihak perlu sentiasa menjaga solat, bersabar, dan hubungan dengan keluarga.
