Bayern stand firm on Hargreaves
Bayern Munich general manager Uli Hoeness is adamant that Owen Hargreaves will not be allowed to join Manchester United.
Hoeness has reacted to comments made by the England midfielder on Wednesday as the midfielder admitted he wanted to secure a move to Old Trafford.
United have been chasing a new midfielder for some time, despite the arrival of Michael Carrick from Tottenham, and have turned to one of the few success stories from England's World Cup campaign.
However, Bayern's Hoeness has followed coach Felix Magath's lead in dismissing the prospect of agreeing a deal with United.
"Hargreaves is not a subject of discussion," asserted Hoeness.
"Owen has a contract until 2010 and he will complete it.
"That means the issue is closed."
The 25-year-old will be playing at Old Trafford on Wednesday night when he starts in midfield against Greece in Steve McClaren's first game in charge of England. |

Hargreaves wants United move
The England international won over his doubters with a splendid showing at the World Cup finals as he won the Man of the Match award for the penalty shoot-out defeat to Portugal.
Hargreaves has always expressed a desire to play in The Premiership and the opportunity to move to United is one he is itching to accept.
Sir Alex Ferguson has turned to the tenacious tackler, even though he is under contract until 2010, after it looks like he will lose the race for his top target - Lyon's Mahamadou Diarra.
The Mali international has expressed a desire to join Real Madrid as the Spanish giants seem certain to fight off the competition from Old Trafford.
"The offer from Manchester United is fantastic," Hargreaves told Bild.
"It's especially enticing for me as an England international, and you never know if the opportunity will present itself again.
"Now it's time for me to take the next step and develop myself further [as a player]."
"Herr [Uli] Hoeness knows what a unique opportunity this is for me."
Bayern, however, will not let the Canada-born player leave cheaply and coach Felix Magath has already stressed his opposition to any deal.
"Selling Hargreaves has never been on our agenda," said Magath.
United have only signed Michael Carrick and back-up keeper Thomas Kuszczack this summer as they attempt to mount a serious Premiership challenge to champions Chelsea. |

OWEN HARGREAVES will sign for Manchester United today.
The England midfielder is set to be unveiled at Old Trafford after agreeing a dream £13million move.
Hargreaves, 25, got his wish after revealing United manager Alex Ferguson had made him an offer he could not refuse.
And the Canadian-born star pleaded with his club to agree a deal and allow him to move to Old Trafford.
Hargreaves, who starred in last night抯 4-0 win over Greece, said: 揟he offer from Manchester United is fantastic.

Hargreaves coy on United link
Owen Hargreaves has refused to rule out a move to Manchester United.
Reports earlier this week suggesting that the England midfielder was mulling out a switch to Old Trafford were quickly snuffed out by his employers at Bayern Munich.
The Bundesliga giants insisted they had no intention of letting Hargreaves go from his contract, which spans until 2010.
The 25-year-old has now declared that the stories concerning his future were not entirely true, but opted not to play down the chances of a move to United.
"Obviously I'm still a Bayern Munich player," he told Sky Sports News after starring for England in the 4-0 win over Greece.
"There's a lot been said but what will happen in the future I don't really know myself.
"A lot has been said on the transfer front, some of it true, some of it not, and I'd rather leave it at that and see how things develop.
"I cannot go into specifics but we will see how things pan out over the next few days." |
