Unlike other actors who were discovered by talent managers or casting agents, TJ Trinidad sought out to make a name for himself in the dog-eat-dog world of local showbiz. Three years ago, he approached Edu Manzano, a family friend, and asked about his chances of making it in the business. Seeing TJ's huge potential, Edu introduced him to his manager, June Rufino. It was also Edu who encouraged TJ to try acting.

"I looked for showbiz because I really wanted to become an actor," says the 29-year-old TJ. "I didn't wait to be discovered. I bravely tried my luck and thankfully, I have been given a chance. It has been rewarding for me, so far."

Armed with requisite good looks and talent to become a star, plus a college diploma to boot, the hazel-eyed TJ dauntlessly joined showbiz with much promise. However, he is not totally alien to acting. In school at Colegio de San Agustin where he finished high school and De La Salle University where he completed a marketing degree, TJ acted in plays. He was also a member of a parish theater youth group in Alabang, where his family resides. They did mostly fund-raising plays during the holiday season.

Before his showbiz salvo, TJ also appeared in more than a dozen TV commercials, which he had been doing since he was a kid. Among his popular TV spots were for San Miguel Beer and Swatch.

So far, TJ has done three films. He made his big screen debut as a killer in Quark Henares' award-winning film, Keka . TJ also appeared in two Joel Lamangan flicks

I cannot believe they抮e resurrecting this relic. In case you are fortunate enough to have amnesia, let me remind you: it抯 a soap from the 1970s, starring Marianne de la Riva, Ronald Corveau, Caridad Sanchez, Augusto Victa, and Romnick Sarmenta. It抯 probably the most tired plot for soaps the world over: rich boy, poor girl, fireworks between families.

Suggested modern touches: 1) Caridad Sanchez should play Luisa, the lead character. And why not? Why should nubile ing閚ues always be the romantic leads in soaps? Why not senior actresses who can really act? 2) I don抰 want to see any more slapping scenes, please. Train the cast to execute helicopter kicks. The show will then be known as a karateleserye. 3) Change the title. 揋ulong ng Palad

The original Mimi was played by Beth Bautista. The one shown in the picture is another actress who took over the role of Beth as Mimi in the midseason of the old soap. In fact, matagal nawala ang character ni Mimi because hindi na nga nagre-report sa set si Beth. Pinalabas na lang that Mimi went to the states then came back after about 2 months of absence in the soap (then iba na nga ang itsura nya as this new actress stepped in). I forgot the name of this actress.

Do馻 Carmen is not shown in the picture either. That was the late actress Metring David in the picture (beside Mimi) who played the mother of Saling in the old soap.

You can see that Luisa (Marianne) was much older than Totoy or Nene back then unlike in the new GNP. That is why there was never any confrontation between Luisa and Totoy back then (as I can recall).

As you can see, Totoy wore a short shorts (uso yan nung araw) and it tells you much of his young age (as in first year high school). And no, the kid is not gay. In fact, he has a baritone voice (boses nagbibinata)and acted his part well (and not effeminately). He had more scenes with Peping back then. Nene was always polite and respectful in the old soap. She just changed her attitude (wearing make-up, etc.) after about a year of GNP. She did not despise her ate Luisa, too. Romnick (Peping) had more exposures/scenes than any other cast besides Luisa, Carding, and Idad. I'd say Peping was among the soap's foremost attractions kasi nga magaling umiyak si Romnick. He almost rivalled Ni駉 Muhlach's popularity except of course that Ni駉 was a more "veteran" child wonder back then.

The old Gulong ng Palad ran for years but never continuously. It stopped for a while then resurfaced as Book 2 during the early 80s (this time with couple Marianne and Ronald as the soap's producers).

Marianne as you can see has resemblance to Kristine except that the latter is sexier and fairer in complexion. But face-wise, both are angelic. I saw Marianne in person when I was a kid and I'd say she has the most perfect facial features - really beautiful. I hope I can see Kristine in person, too.

Thanks for this photo. It reminds me of the old days when I was a kid watching this soap and singing its theme song in one of the school's mini programs.

Marianne made a lovely bride once again when she tied the knot with endocrinologist Oscar Ortiz on Sept. 2 in the United States, where the actress is now based.

Only close relatives and friends attended the very private ceremony and reception held at The Ritz-Carlton in New York City.

Marianne抯 groom, who hails from Quezon City, took his pre-med at the University of the Memorial Medical Center and trained at the Columbia University-Presbyterian Medical Center in New York City. He later set up his private practice in Toms River, New Jersey.

As a leading man, he's not yet in the same league as the so-called 'Kings of Star Cinema', an elite circle that includes the likes of Piolo Pascual, Diether Ocampo and John Lloyd Cruz.

That may be the case, but TJ Trinidad, who was last seen playing the love interest of Kristine Hermosa in the modern-day TV adaptation of the popular 70s radio drama Gulong Ng Palad, obviously has a following of his own.

Starting out in commercials when he was 10 years old梐nd using those commercials as a springboard to his showbiz career桾J surprised everyone when he came out of virtually nowhere to be named to play opposite Kristine in the top-rating primetime drama.

When the role was given to him, people started asking, 揥ho's he? Why him?

Hindi naman ibig sabihin na 憄ag nakakilala ako ng ibang mga tao, ibig sabihin, pipili na 慿o dun, di ba?" says Kristine Hermosa about the possibility that she and Diether Ocampo may not end up with each other.

Rumors are circulating that real-life sweethearts Diether Ocampo and Kristine Hermosa have split-up, or if not, their relationship is on the rocks. The issue was further set ablazed with the couple's statements during the Valentine party-cum-press con for ABS-CBN'S new episodes of Love Spell, Your Song, and Pedro Penduko last Friday, January 26, held at the station's 9501 Restaurant.

Although Diet and Tintin tried to veer away from the issue, their answers somehow revealed that their relationship is currently in a rough stage. Tintin admitted that Diet is courting her again. And that they are just "good friends" these days.

"Ever since naman, we're good friends. Ngayon, naniniwala naman ako na nililigawan niya ulit ako. Ayoko kasing lagyan ng label [yung relationship namin] e. We're taking it slow and gusto ko pang ma-develop yung friendship namin ni Diet. At alam kong nililigawan niya ako...Gusto kong magpaligaw," said Tintin smiling.
To which Diet just had to agree. "Kagaya ng sabi ni Kristine, yun ang sa tingin niya ay pinagdadaanan namin ngayon. Pero siyempre, I have to honor that and I have to respect that. Kasi sa buhay ng showbiz couple, ang dami ninyong pinagdadaanang pagsubok.

"I can say sa point ng buhay namin ngayon, kailangan naming i-reassess yung mga pinagdaanan namin. So if we want na mas higit pa ang pagsasamahan namin doon in the near future, para ma-consolidate yung magagandang pinagsamahan namin, kailangan naming lagyan ng magandang pundasyon," explained Diether.

But the actor hinted a bump in their present situation.

Diet said, "Actually, sa process na dinadaanan namin ngayon, medyo mahirap para sa aming pareho dahil magkasama lagi kami sa trabaho. At the same time, may mga taong involved na ayaw din naming masaktan. Pero para sa akin, kung yun man ang sinasabi niya, I have to respect that.

"I think everyone is aware na marami nga kaming naging pagkakamali, di ba? Hindi naman namin itinatatwa 憏on. Dahil kumbaga in-acknowledge namin yung mga mali namin, at the same time, we're willing to learn and still learning."

He added, "It's kinda vague actually kung ano ang talagang definition or description kung ano kami after nung revelation namin sa The Buzz. So it's a struggle for us to learn everything in the process dahil parang lahat ng bagay na nangyayari sa amin, first time naming na-experience e. So, pareho kaming walang alam. So, pareho kaming... 慜kay, pa naman tayo, 慸i ba?'

"Just as long as we both know na napapasaya pa natin ang isa't isa. At importante na pinangangalagaan natin ang pagkakaibigan natin. Yun ang pundasyon na ayaw naming pabayaan. 慞ag yun ang nasira, definitely, wala nang pupuntahan."

It should be recalled that Diether and Kristine were secretly married in civil rites last September 12, 2004, but the young actress filed for an annulment on June 21, 2005. The court has yet to decide on the case.

And although Kristine said that she's already sure who will always stay in her heart, she is not closing her "door" to other guys. The actress has also given Diet the freedom to entertain the possibility of meeting other girls.

"Siyempre sa puso ko... Alam ko sa puso ko kung sino talaga. Pero ayokong isarado yung pintuan ko para do'n sa mga taong puwede ko pang makilala. Hindi naman ibig sabihin na 憄ag nakakilala ako ng ibang mga tao, ibig sabihin, pipili na 慿o dun, di ba?" explained Kristine.

"Parang siya [Diet], gusto ko rin siyang mag-enjoy. Ayoko rin siyang limitahan kung sino pa yung mga darating sa buhay niya. Kung sino pa yung mga i-entertain niya," she said smiling.

But asked if she will not get jealous if she finds out that Diet is courting another girl, Tintin was quick to say, "Meron! Oo, okay kami, pero di mo naman maiiwasan 憏an. Emotions 憏an, 慸i ba?"

Diether and Kristine will be the featured couple in the "Click Na Click" episode of Love Spell.

Article tu kata, si Kristine ni galakkan Diet jumpa dengan perempua lain jugak selain dia. Walaupun dia tau sapa yang sebenarnya dalam hati dia, tapi dia nak beri kebebsan tu pada Diet. I thik dia nak bagi kebebasan pada dia jugak, tak nak terikat dengan sorang jer. My conclusion is that Kristine ni dah berbelah bagi dengan Diet, or we just wait and see what's going to happen next. Mayb she'll get back together with Echo....who knows.......Maybe sekarang dia kata tak nak, tup-tup esok lusa they annouce their wedding date. That could happen....nanti mana-mana yang ate tertinggal, ada la sesapa yang menambah (merujuk pada sorang tu)....
