1. He's not really into you/You are not really his type
2. He's not ready for any commitment
3. He's afraid of commitment
4. Testing market
5. Suka perempuan terkejar2 kat dia, feeds his ego.
6. Had bad experience with women before (like u found out)
7. Dapat thrill memainkan perasaan perempuan
8. He's just a closeted gay.
I rasa dia nih could be a mix of a few dekat atas, maybe no.1, 5, 7.
Earning 5 figures at late 30s is not really impressive, i was earning that during my mid 20s. And in my experience, ramai lagi lelaki yg stable and earning the same or more, maybe not hard core gamers lah.
