Liverpool’s second goal against Sunderland
This is counter-attacking football at its very best – it’s absolutely ruthless.
Liverpool weren’t great yesterday, and they allowed a very limited Sunderland side to have too many long passages of attacking possession, but what they did do, and brilliantly so, was transition defence into attack incredibly quickly – and this is the best example of that.
What’s so great about this goal, is that it demonstrates the key attributes of Brendan Rodgers’ three most prominent players: Steven Gerrard, Daniel Sturridge, and Luis Suarez.
Gerrard obviously starts the move with a trademark pass, which is not only accurate, but it puts Sturridge in isolation with a defender and makes Sunderland immediately vulnerable. What a ball – it’s inch-perfect across 60 yards.
Once Sturridge gets into this position, he just attacks the goal-line and blows the defender away – and that’s absolutely what his manager would have wanted: no step-overs, no messing about
Sturridge beats his man, sucks in the goalkeeper, and squares his pass perfectly for Suarez – who has made exactly the kind of run you would expect from a top-class centre-forward – to tap in unchallenged at the far post.

Deadly. Wonderful, wonderful counter-attacking football.

dia lagi suka sterling..pd wa ibe tu lg cun dr sterling..

Aku rasa BR suka ngan Hendo ni pasal semangat pil kuda dia. Dia ni mengingatkan kita pada lucas dulu...berkati-kati korang kutuk lucas dalam forum ni dulu, lepas tu puji melambung...sekarang ni giliran hendo pulak jd bahan...kalau dia score mmg aku suka style dia meraikan...hendo ni bagus sebenarnya, mungkin masa training effort dia tinggi n BR suka. kalu dia tak bagus, BR takkan bg can punya...Lihatlah Juan Mata, bagus di mata kita tapi maybe masa training tak memuaskan hati JM, maka tersingkirlah dia dari 1st eleven. |

Liverpool and City in race with Real and Juve for 'best young player in Argentina'
Liverpool and Manchester City are among clubs to have asked about Argentina prospect Luciano Vietto.
Both clubs have been monitoring the teenager’s development for over a year.
The 19-year-old forward plays for Racing Club and has also been scouted by Real Madrid and Juventus.

Benitez targets TWO Liverpool stars
Napoli boss Rafa Benitez is plotting a double raid on former club Liverpool in January, according to sources in Italy.
Benitez's new side are flying high in Serie A at the moment - they're second in the table and unbeaten after six games - and he is eyeing January additions in an attempt to strengthen their title tilt.
talkSPORT told you last week that he is keen on Martin Skrtel, who has recently worked his way back into Brendan Rodgers' plans at Anfield after being frozen out in the second half of last season.
But the Spaniard is also planning to revive his interest in Lucas Leiva, the midfielder he brought to Merseyside from Gremio in 2007.
Benitez was a firm admirer of the Brazilian during his time at Liverpool and frequently defended the anchorman from criticism.
However, he could struggle to land Lucas as the 26-year-old is now an integral member of Brendan Rodgers' first team. |
