Manchester United and Real Madrid reportedly have a gentleman’s agreement to transfer Cristiano Ronaldo to the Bernabeu.
The two team’s agreed in principle to the deal at the end of a bitter tug-of-war for the Portugal star in the summer - but pledged a vow of silence, according to reports in Spain.
The information comes from Real Madrid director Pedro Trapote, who is said to be very close to president Ramon Calderon.
And respected Madrid-based newspaper El Mundo reports that at least two other senior members of the Bernabeu hierarchy are leaking similar information.

Ferguson: Rafael da Silva Is The Future
The Manchester United boss has warned Gary Neville and Wes Brown that they have their work cut out to get back in the team, what with the electric cool development of teenage Brazilian sensation Rafael da Silva.
Rafael da Silva first burst onto the Manchester United scene with an effervescent and eye-catching display in a pre-season friendly against Peterborough.
Since then the dynamic full-back has gone from strength to strength, has been granted first-team pitch time by a trusting manager, and nearly inspired a late comeback over Arsenal at the Emirates Stadium with a stunning strike right on the ninety-minute mark.
Gary Neville has been an England international for over a decade, and is United's club captain.
Wes Brown produced solid displays (in Neville's absence) all the way to help his side claim a memorable league and Eurropean double.
Displacement
It is no easy feat ousting two established right-backs from that side of defence, but that appears to be happening at Old Trafford.
"It is rare for someone to come through like he has done," Sir Alex Ferguson is reported to have said ahead of his club's FIFA Club World Cup semi final clash against Gamba Osaka.
Ferguson also hinted that the teenager could be a mainstay in the right back role, and added that Brown and Neville may need to up their game if they are to reclaim the position: "Gary and Wes have a little problem because this young boy Rafael has really taken off."
The 18-year old is expected to feature in the global club competition. |
