PAMPLONA, February 4 (Primera Liga) - Barcelona could only draw in Pamplona against a stubborn Osasuna side on Sunday, but stayed top of the Primera Liga thanks to Sevilla's draw against Real Sociedad.

The Spanish champions were without the injured Ronaldinho, missing with an ankle problem, but Samuel Eto'o started on the bench after four months on the sidelines with a serious knee injury and made a late appearance as a substitute.

In the absence of these two and Argentinian winger Lionel Messi in the starting 11, coach Frank Rijkaard gave a rare start to Basque forward Santi Ezquerro on the left, with Argentinian Javier Saviola in the centre and Frenchman Ludovic Giuly on the right of a three-man attack.

Mexican defender Rafael Marquez started in the midfield holding role, with Brazilian Edmilson partnering captain Carles Puyol in central defence.

With so many changes to their normal line-up, Barcelona struggled to find their rhythm in the early stages and failed to create anything of note until the 10th minute, when Oleguer crossed dangerously from the right.

MADRID, Feb 7 (Reuters) - Barcelona's Argentina forward Lionel Messi has been cleared to play by medical staff, the Spanish champions said on Wednesday.
