Ferguson: Arsenal Will Slip Up
Manchester United boss Alex Ferguson believes that Arsenal can be caught - as soon as they start dropping points...
Manchester United manager Sir Alex Ferguson isn't yet ready to concede the title race to Arsenal, as he is adamant that the Gunners will slip up.
Adhering to the maxim that every team has its lean spells, he told Manchester United Radio, "Arsenal are playing well, but it's a long season and they know that, too. They will drop points, there's no doubt about that."
However, he knows that, at the moment, only one side of the two has really dropped points: his.
"We'd like to be three points better off," admitted the ex-East Stirlingshire man.
"If we hadn't lost to Bolton then we would have been in a great position."
That narrow loss to the Trotters has put United slightly off the pace, but a resounding win over Fulham on Monday night cut the deficit to just three points.
But with a packed calendar, something's got to give as the Red Devils look to keep the pressure up on all fronts. Perhaps it will be in Europe that some sacrifices are made.
"I have a dilemma for the Roma trip," he said of his side's sixth Champions League group stage match.
"Obviously we're already through, and I'd really like some of the young players to get some miles on the clock, but we have to make sure we don't get embarrassed." |
