Kaka, Ronnie included in Brazil squad

Brazil have announced their squad for the friendly internationals against England at Wembley on June 1st and Turkey in Dortmund on June 5th. Kaka and Ronaldinho were included despite asking not to be picked for the Copa America.

Both players have requested to skip the tournament in Venezuela in June and July because of fatigue.

However, coach Dunga named them in a 22-man squad which also includes uncapped Netherlands-based striker Afonso Alves and CSKA Moscow striker Jo.

Kaka The Best, Ronaldinho Must Work Harder - Dunga

The Brazil coach went into a detailed analysis of Ronaldinho's form, insisting that The Gaucho had work to do before getting back to Kaka's level.

"Kaka is the best player at the moment," he said on Catalan Radio. "Ronaldinho has the capability to return to the top, and Robinho could be up there too."

"Ronaldinho lacks pace," he continued. "He does not have that 30 or 40 metre burst that he used to have last season, which used to help him get away from defenders.

"He must train more. When he is physically perfect, Ronaldinho is unstoppable. As he was last season.

"Technically, he is superior to the rest."

Speaking of his own relations with the player, he insisted that there were no problems, and that he had not snatched the number 10 shirt from Ronaldinho, only given it to Kaka.

"The first time that I gave the number 10 to Kaka, Ronaldinho was injured with Barcelona, and did not make his debut under me," explained the World Cup winner.

"I am thinking only about Brazil. Players must play for the Brazil shirt, and not for the number they wear. When I decide on these things I do now look at personal issues.

"In every team, there can be up to three players who can wear the number 10 shirt. I did not take it from Ronaldinho, rather, simply gave it to Kaka.

"I have no problems with him. There is a very calm relation, because I am a transparent person."

Dunga Calls Up Baptista As Ze Roberto Bows Out

Brazil's coach Dunga has called Real Madrid midfielder-cum-striker Julio Baptista into his Copa America squad in response to veteran Ze Roberto's decision to retire from international football.

Baptista, who experienced a decidedly mixed season on loan to English Premiership side Arsenal during 2006-07, will join up with the squad ahead of the eagerly awaited South American championship, which kcks off in Venezuela on 15th July.

'The Beast' gets his chance because Ze Roberto, 32, has bowed out of the selecao.

Ze Roberto is expected to return to his Bundesliga club Bayern Munich after ending a brief spell with Brazilians Santos. He had initially been named in Dunga's squad, which is already shorn of Kaka and Ronaldinho who are restin to avoid burn-out.

"Having represented the Brazilian national team for more than 12 years and 86 matches with commitment, dignity, loyalty and dedication, I have decided to end my international career," he said.

Brazil, who were Copa America champions in 2004, have been drawn in Group B together with Chile, Mexico and Ecuador.

Dunga's revised squad is as follows:
