Child bride is child abuse

Child marriage is a hideous and pedophilic crime.
SECTIONS of fundamentalist Islam in Australia are on notice: child marriage — aka child abuse — is a crime and will not be tolerated.
Authorities and the community can never accept any form of child marriage under some flawed pretence of cultural or religious tradition that should have been abandoned in the Middle Ages.
A minority element, particularly in the non-mainstream Muslim community, has continued to force children to marry male adults, often more than twice their age — either in Australia or by travelling overseas to have ceremonies conducted.
The Australian Federal Police, on the latest available figures, was investigating 69 cases of forced or under-age marriage, which are believed to have also included other religions or unions where financial incentives were a factor.
That number was up from 33 cases in 2015 and hopefully the increase represents a greater readiness of certain communities to come forward with complaints or the support and empowerment being offered to child victims.
Similarly, Australian authorities and the community must take a tough stand against polygamist arrangements within sections of the Islamic and even non-Islamic community. But we must bring the full force of the law to bear and send a clear message that child abuse in any form will never be tolerated.
The Herald Sun yesterday revealed prosecutors had dropped a sex abuse charge against a Victorian man in his 30s who “married” a 14-year-old child during a ceremony at a Melbourne mosque. It had earlier been alleged that in the days after last year’s ceremony the child was raped by her “husband”.
But in a plea deal in which the accused man admits to entering into an illegal marriage with a child, a sexual assault charge was dropped.
The community needs to be assured the reason for dropping the sex abuse offence — arguably the most serious charge — was not simply to encourage a guilty plea to a forced marriage charge or for efficiency of the prosecution process.
It may be the child victim’s welfare was assessed as at risk if she was required to give evidence at trial and be cross-examined. But as in all contested child abuse cases, the courts have remote evidence facilities and judges closely monitor the conduct of cross-examination.
Under no circumstances can it ever be argued a child under 16 has the maturity or emotional capacity for informed consent to either marriage or sex with an adult.
According to law, any sexual act between an adult and a person under the age of consent is considered abuse. In Victoria, under the Crimes Act 1958, the age of consent for sexual interaction is 16 (with partner age constraints), as it is in all other states and territories, except Tasmania and South Australia, where the age is 17.
If any members of Australia’s Islamic or other religious communities support marriage between an adult and child they should move to, or return to, nations within the Middle East or Africa where such customs are, sadly and brutally, tolerated.
There can be no cultural or religious justification for a marriage that subjugates a child to a union without informed consent and then to be sexually abused. It is a hideous and pedophilic crime seeking to hide behind archaic religious sanction.
We need Muslim leaders and imams to continue to condemn the practice, alert police where it does occur and help eradicate it.

CLINICAL DEFINITION OF PEDOPHILIA
A. Over a period of at least six months, recurrent, intense sexually arousing fantasies, sexual urges, or behaviors involving sexual activity with a prepubescent child or children (generally age 13 years or younger).
B. The person has acted on these sexual urges, or the sexual urges or fantasies caused marked distress or interpersonal difficulty.
C. The person is at least age 16 years and at least 5 years older than the child or children in Criterion A.
Note: This does not include an individual in late adolescence involved in an ongoing sexual relationship with a 12- or 13-year-old.

agama memang melarang kalau syarat tak dipatuhi...
Islam meletakkan syarat syarat dalam pernikahan...cuma kadang kadang dari segi umur sesuatu yg subjectif (ikut bangsa/ kaum) kalau mat selleh 16 thn nampak bodoh lagi...kalau org melayu 16 thn dah nampak dewasa, sbb tu Islam meletakkan samaada sudah akhil baligah kah tidak utk tanda aras kematangan.....
kamu rasa agama apa yg tak melarang??

ye betul tu.....india paling suka kawinkan budak2 kecik, sampai skrg...yg ni diorg tak kutuk sbb bangsa(atau buat2 tak nmpk).....yg diorg nampk kalau ISLAM, padahal bukannya wajib pun kawinkan budak2 kecik unless dah gatal merreghela sgt...elok la dikawinkan dari berzina pakai kondom sana sini dah mcm pelacur
