The prime minister had said that Malaysia would not send troops to Iraq unless under the banner of the UN.

long overdue. Najib must send m'sian soldiers there. but  dont just send christians soldiers only . make sure send all muslims soldiers too. at least, if they die there fighting in 'jihad' state to help their fellow iraqis muslims there. Najib must proove that he's not a coward as he is now !

We care, that is why we should not send troops there. IT is because by sending troops there, we will be doing supporting US terrorism work.

Ariyamusafir,

because by sending troops there, we will be doing supporting US terrorism work

We do not support the Invasion but we ought to be part of Reconstruction for the good of Iraqi people.

The mentality we should adopt is see it as an opportunity to help ensure stability with our involvement.

If we don't get in, somebody else would. Are you aware the stability & peace would be achieved anyway down the road? If there is NOT a single muslim country involve in the reconstruction, future credit goes all the way to either America or Wests. Think about it.

America calling for more involvement from other nations is to speed up the stability process. Or they can do it all they way alone but you're to see more people suffer because of the petty mentality we adopt by staying out.

I see that there's nothing wrong sending troops to Iraq if it's for reconstruction purposes.Better than just leave everything to the US and it's allies.

In order to restructuring iraq why sending malaysian troops? does their presence there important to restructure the country or to keep the country peaceful? what can they do unless if they are expert in IT, engineering and architectural! as far as i understand all the major contracts goes to american companies to restructure iraq, that is their main purpose in their invasion of iraq country! I guess after the news breaks regarding the maltreatment being done by the american soldiers bush knows the credibility of his soldiers is being dubious by iraqis now and he needs other countries especially muslim country to involve by sending the troop through UN  to keep the country peaceful while their american companies gain benefit in restructuring iraq!

They can still do it WITH or WITHOUT Malaysia's presence. Preliminary arrangement is tentatively about ensuring security for UN resources in Iraq. Would you want to see a failed UN mission to Iraq or having a alternative medium which is working well there which Malaysia & many parts of the world at least have a say? Or you'd rather have America consume Iraq totally by your own petty mindset?

b.s. they only acquiese to some small 'others' participation because looks like those renegades iraqis are no push over. so might as well invite others to send their sons to die in iraq and rejuvenate the soil with their bl00d. better others die then their yankee sons.

Yes, we can help, BUT ONLY UNDER THE BANNERS OF THE UN OR FULLY AND TRULLY FREE IRAQ. Not when US is still in power, because US is not trully wanting the full construction of Iraq for the Iraqis but for their own benefit. Unless US cede power which they won't to the UN, sending them aid there would only more of support their imperialism activity and supporting their terrorism acts. You saw what they did to their people in Iraq, don't tell me the management, or the administartors of those occupying forces totally do not know about it???? The England lady said that it was directed by their intelligence officers if not mistaken right???? She ought to be given the benefit of the doubt to what she had said.

the transition period is almost over. sooner america has  to pass the  power and authority to iraqis.  I dont agree if malaysia send our troops to iraq while america still have the power and authority there. I dont agree our troops to fight along with american soldiers to certain group of iraqis in order to make the country peaceful because to me every iraqi has his damn right to have whatever in his country because iraq is belong to him not american!

Sending troops under the banner of the Inavsion Forces such as the US (i.e, under US control) means that we are supporting their occupation. That is why we had said, we will not send troops unless Iraq is handed to the UN, and only under the banners of UN will we send our troops there. The US created this mess and they want others to share foot its bill while they and its allies who fought in the war with them but mostly the US will reap all the reward all by themselves alone?????

Agree fully with Ariya. We should only send our peace-keeping troops once the Americans are COMPLETELY -  IN EVERY SENSE OF THE WORD - OUT. A new Iraqi government should not even have  the slightest 'stinking aroma' of America in them.

I agree.  Not only that come this June, US promised to hand over power to Iraqis but the US want to have the Iraqi Armed Forces under the command of the US. Whene another soverign controls your armed forces, though they say they return soverign to you, you are still not soverign bacuse your armed forces, the forces that protects your soverignty is still under the command of others, when they not please with you, boom, you have no troops to back up the admin. Even Colin Powell, made it clear, IRAQ have to return back "some" of its soverignity to the Americans after handover power. So handover power here is more of trying makinng others happy but not real.

Assume when the armed forces is under the control of the US in the future when the people of Iraq choses a Theoretical government such as that of Iran, a more on religion type, US fully disagree then US can easily crush that government as US had said, they will never agree to that kind of government, so is it truelly democracy sop champion by the US????? So Iraqi armed forces taking off Iraqi government under US command and not under authorities from the ruling Iraqi government????
