Doctor killed in highway accident
KUALA KANGSAR: A doctor lost his life when his car crashed into the side barricade along the North-South Expressway.
Dr Loo Ming Wei (pic), 29, was on his way home to Taiping after a night out with friends in Ipoh when he is believed to have lost control of his car at the 257th kilometre of the expressway.
Confirming the 3.30am incident yesterday, Kuala Kangsar OCPD Asst Comm Ahmad Termizi Abdul Haq said Dr Loo was rushed by emergency responders to Kuala Kangsar Hospital where he was pronounced dead.
The deceased, who was attached to the Kamunting Health Clinic, was travelling alone at the time of the incident, he added. “A post-mortem revealed multiple trauma secondary to a motor vehicle accident as the cause of death,” ACP Ahmad Termizi said.
Loo Chin Cheang said his eldest son had gone to Ipoh to attend a course at Raja Permaisuri Bainun Hospital on Monday.
“He must have gone out with some friends after the course. I’m not too sure.
“My son was about to pursue a specialist course in Family Medicine. Unfortunately, his life was cut short,” said the distraught father, who is senior assistant of SMK Darul Ridzuan in Taiping.
