Accident caused Chinese national's death, not other factors: Police

BESUT: The cause of death of a Chinese national in Kampung Pinang near Kampung Raja on Tuesday has been confirmed to be from a road accident and not other factors.

Besut district police chief, Superintendent Mohd Zamri Mohd Rowi said in the 5 pm incident, the victim known as Bi Haijun, 46 was found dead by the side of the road in the village with wounds on his neck, legs and ribs.

"A check by the forensic medical expert at the Besut district hospital carried out at 9.30am found that the victim died due to 'severe head injury due to blunt force impact'," he told the media here this afternoon.

Mohd Zamri said the accident was believed to have occurred when the victim was handling digging equipment to take soil samples to build rail tracks at the scene, and was believed to have collided with a car.

He said further investigations would be done under Section 41( 1) of the Road Transport Act 1987 and the Chinese Embassy in Kuala Lumpur has also been informed of the incident. — Bernama
