GEORGE TOWN: The alleged RM1 billion bribe said to have been offered to DAP’s Lim Kit Siang by Pakatan Harapan chairman Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad is a claim too serious for the former to ignore, said People’s Alternative Party (PAP) vice-president Rahmad Isahak.
In urging both to come out and professionally clear their names should the allegation made be false, Rahmad challenged Lim to stop keeping mum on the issue if he was innocent.
Last week, blogger Raja Petra Kamarudin claimed that Dr Mahathir had offered Lim a bribe of RM1 billion in order for the former Prime Minister to be made chairman of the Opposition coalition as well as to ensure a safe Parliament seat for Datuk Seri Mukhriz Mahathir in the upcoming General Election.
Neither parties have come forward to either confirm or deny the allegation.
“PAP views the matter very seriously and both should come out to clear their names before the rakyat who are also voters start to believe the claims instead of just keeping quiet.
“The onus is on them to clear their names.

Kit Siang to sue over claims he received RM1bil from Dr M

(Malaysiakini) – DAP parliamentary leader Lim Kit Siang will sue over claims he received RM1 billion from former prime minister and Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia (Bersatu) chairperson Dr Mahathir Mohamad.
“I have directed my lawyers to take out a test case to sue the media which printed lies and defamatory material about me, like receiving RM1 billion bribe from Mahathir so that Bersatu could join Pakatan Harapan…,” he said in a statement today.
The claimed, amongst others, said the payment was also to allow Mahathir to become the Harapan chairperson, for Lim to remain silent on the Bank Negara Malaysia forex scandal and for Mahathir’s son Mukhriz be given a safe parliamentary seat to contest in the next general election.
The claim was first made by Malaysia Today, operated by blogger Raja Petra Kamarudin and repeated in a report by Utusan Malaysia today.
“It is not worth paying attention to these “Tom, Dick and Harry”, whether operating outside and inside the country, for they have absolutely no credibility whatsoever from any perspective. Nobody reads or believes what they say.
“But when certain media allow themselves to be used to publish and circulate these vicious and downright lies, such perversities and loopholes cannot be ignored,” he said.
Lim did not name the blog or publication making the claim.
The Gelang Patah MP questioned if it would be acceptable if similarly spurious allegations were made about the prime minister and are picked up by the media.

Kit Siang will receive the final tranche of RM250 million once Mukhriz is given a safe seat to contest the next general election
These are the four strings attached for that RM1 billion bribe. Kit Siang has delivered three and has received RM750 million so far and the final tranche of RM250 million will be paid once they confirm which seat Mukhriz will be given to contest.
RM250 million per favour may sound a lot but when you compare it to the RM90 million bribe that Prime Minister Najib Tun Razak was alleged to have paid PAS President Abdul Hadi Awang, the RM20 million that Mahathir paid Khairuddin Abu Hassan, the US$5 million that Mahathir paid for three US DoJ press conferences, and so on, it is not really a lot of money. More important would be when you consider the RM5 billion that Mahathir has set aside to oust Najib — RM2 billion for the ANC (Anti-Najib Campaign) and the balance to fund the next general election — a RM1 billion to bribe Kit Siang sounds very small in comparison.

The two US DoJ press conferences on 1MDB (plus one more press conference to go just before the general election) cost the ANC ‘petty-cash’ of US$5 million
Earlier, Malaysia Today revealed that the ANC spent US$5 million to ‘buy’ three press conferences by the United States Department of Justice. The first one was held in July 2016 and the second one in June this year. The third one is supposed to be held just before the next general election.

Daim has a string of banks in Africa, Eastern Europe and Latin America. And he has controlling interest or sole interest in all of them. These banks were acquired since the 1990s after Daim resigned as Finance Minister in 1991 and when he and Mahathir needed to park their RM160 billion or so combined fortune outside Malaysia, partly due to the Bank Negara forex fiasco.
Mahathir initially intended to resign around the late 1990s so they had about six or seven years to securely ‘invest’ all their money in banks in three continents. But with the 1997 Asian Financial Crisis followed by Anwar Ibrahim’s attempt to grab power, that retirement plan had to be delayed a few years until 2003.
Anyway, the RM160 billion that Mahathir and Daim jointly own is well hidden but not well hidden enough.  Malaysia Today managed to track how the US$5 million for the three US DoJ press conferences was paid. Mahathir says his salary does not come to RM1 billion so how could be afford to pay Kit Siang RM1 billion? Did we say he paid Kit Siang the RM1 billion from his salary?

The fact that you cannot do business in Malaysia unless you paid was no secret and every man and his dog knew this. Barry Wain has mentioned this in his book in great detail, as have Edmund Terence Gomez and Jomo Kwame Sundaram.
