Man likely to have killed uncle over unrequited love

                    KOTA KINABALU: A man could have killed his uncle because his marriage proprosal was rejected during an incident at Kampung Sembulan Lama here yesterday.
According to a source, the 30-year-old man had punched and stabbed Abdul Razi Bahadum, 56, about 6.30pm at a shop.
The victim was stabbed 12 times and died at scene.
“The owner of a sundry shop, where the incident occurred, witnessed what happened and lodged a police report,” he said.
Earlier about 1pm, the man had gone to the woman’s workplace at a shopping mall and had forced her to go to another place to discuss their engagement.
However, the woman had refused to follow him as she feared for her safety.
The man was said to have hovered at her workplace for almost an hour before he left.
The source said the man had asked for the victim’s daughter’s hand in marriage at the mid of last year.
“However, as the man had no full time job the family had to turn down the proposal for their 24-year-old daughter,” he said.
Upon investigation, the man suffered no injuries and his urine tested negative for drugs.
District police chief Assistant Commissioner M. Chandra confirmed the incident in a Facebook post.
He said the man had surrendered himself and the weapon at the police station here.
"Police believe the cause of the incident could be revenge but were still investigating.
"We also do not rule out the possiblity that the man could have emotional problems.

"Investigation shows that the suspect had been arrested under Section 15(1)(a) Dangerous Drug Act 1952 for taking drugs," he said, adding this case was being investigated under Section 302 of the Penal Code for murder. © New Straits Times Press (M) Bhd
