Ahead of GE14, EC orders 100,000 bottles of indelible ink from India
Friday February 23, 2018
KUALA LUMPUR, Feb 23 — The Election Commision (EC) has ordered 100,000 bottles of indelible ink worth RM4.8 million from a manufacturer in India, according to a news report.
The Deccan Herald quoted Mysore Paints and Varnish Ltd’s Chairman HA Venkatesh as saying that have received the order from the EC and it would be used in the upcoming general election.
“The ink worth Rs8 crore (RM4.8 million) will be supplied to Malaysia soon,” he said.
Each bottle contains 60ml of indelible ink.
MPVL, which is own by the Indian state of Karnataka, first supplied indelible Ink to India in 1962.
It was then utilised in India's general, state and civic body polls before the ink was adopted for use by a dozen other countries such as Cambodia, Mongolia and Nepal.
On their company website, they claimed their indelible ink product was used to mark 4.5 billion voters in India and other countries
Malaysia adopted the use of the indelible ink in the 13th general election in 2013.
