Ex-City Harvest Church fund manager Chew Eng Han arrested for trying to flee Singapore by boat

SINGAPORE: Former City Harvest Church fund manager Chew Eng Han was arrested on Wednesday morning (Feb 21) for attempting to flee the country in a sampan, the police said at a news conference. 
The 57-year-old, one of six church leaders convicted in 2015 of misappropriating S$50 million of church funds, had been out on bail and was due to turn himself in on Thursday to begin his jail term.
Another man, 53-year-old Tan Poh Teck, who was piloting the motorised sampan, was also arrested.
In a split decision by the High Court last April, Chew had his original six-year jail sentence lowered to three years and four months. Chew is the only one of the six who has not started serving his jail term for criminal breach of trust and falsification of accounts.
Three Police Coast Guard boats intercepted the motorised sampan in the sea off Pulau Ubin at about 8.45am on Wednesday after acting on a tip-off. About S$5,000 and fishing equipment was found on the boat.
The two men in the boat said they were going fishing when they were surrounded by the Police Coast Guard vessels about 2.4km away from the Pulau Ubin jetty, Channel NewsAsia understands. However, preliminary police investigations suggest the boat was headed to Malaysia.
It is understood that the two did not resist arrest.

City Harvest Church ini memang gila ya.
Teringat cerita dolu2.
Rekan akak pernah pi beribadah di situ zaman weols stoden dolu (gigih la ko gi seberang Tambak semata2 nak gi urban church khen). Masa church service every single congregation yang hadir itu diminta untuk kosongkan dompet memasing untuk fund bangunan baru (gereja sekarang). And deyols obliged, termasuk rekan akak itu, believing whatever deyols contribute will be multiplied by God (an act of faith katanya - ye la, macam weols Moslem juga, bila memberi, akan dapat berkat gitchu). Mind you gereja deyols masa tu around 5k (ka lebey dari tu) kapasitinya ya. Jika setiap ummah membawa maksimum 100 Sgd dalam dompet dah setengah jota deyols boleh dapat dalam masa 2 jam jah punya church service.
Now korang kat mesjid ada brani buat gituh? Minta mahap ja la kan?
Kesimpulannya,
Padan moka tak habis2 dengan cerita skendel sampai 2018 gitu tak selesai2. Akak memang tak suka deyols terutama bini pastor Kong Hee yang sundel tu.

SINGAPORE: Former City Harvest Church leader Chew Eng Han allegedly paid a Malaysian man thousands of dollars to help him flee Singapore.
The Malaysian, Khoo Kea Leng, and Chew are said to have met in a car park near Block 75 Marine Drive.
Inside a car, the two discussed arrangements for Chew to flee Singapore, and Chew allegedly gave Khoo at least a few thousand dollars for his help in facilitating his escape.
