PAS intends to be a “kingmaker” for any party that wants to form the Selangor government in the 14th general election, said the party president Abdul Hadi Awang. The Islamist party, Hadi said, would play a pivotal role for either Barisan Nasional or Pakatan Harapan to form the state government. “PAS will contest no fewer than 130 parliamentary seats, maybe even more. We will work hard to gain either a simple majority or many seats. “Make us kingmakers. All parties cannot form the state government, they need to meet us.
"We must win many seats in Selangor for us to make a change,” he said during his speech at the 10-year anniversary of PAS being in the Selangor government in Shah Alam today. The Marang lawmaker said PAS does not need help from foreign parties to take over Putrajaya by force. He said even if PAS does not win the federal government, they would be content with being advisers to those in power. “We are not greedy. If we win, we will make changes. If we do not win, we will be advisers to the current government. “We do not invite foreign parties and powers. There are parties who are not brave, they seek foreign investments and intervention. They ask for foreign media to intervene,” the PAS president told a crowd of about 2,000 at Stadium JKR.
Hadi also said PAS is taking into consideration that the party will contest multi-corned seats in upcoming general elections. “PAS will go through the elections alone. We will face BN and PH in these elections. No matter how many cornered fights, we will contest. We have our own approaches.” He also stressed that despite PAS being alone, when they were in power in Kelantan, Terengganu and Selangor, none of their leaders were investigated. Hadi did not state what kind of investigations. “In that period, none of the PAS leaders were investigated. What is the secret? The secret is that we follow the politics of Allah. He who is fair and just,” Hadi said. PAS severed ties with PH parties – PKR and DAP – in 2015 over the lack of support from the Chinese-based DAP for its campaign to implement hudud in Kelantan. The Islamist party had always stressed that it is leading an independent opposition coalition, called Gagasan Sejahtera Rakyat, in the next elections to fight both BN and PH. – March 17, 2018.
