KUALA LUMPUR: Kepong MP Lim Lip Eng has lodged a police report against 1Malaysia Development Bhd (1MDB) CEO Arul Kanda Kandasamy for allegedly making false statements on the financial status of the company.
Lim said that action should be taken against Arul Kanda under Section 202 and 203 of the Penal Code for intentional omission and giving false information.
"He had repeatedly said that the company was not bankrupt and would be able to pay off its debts through a rationalisation plan.
"But recently, two 1MDB directors said that the company was insolvent and unable to repay its debts," he said.
Lim also alleged that senior officials from Bank Negara, the Finance Ministry, the police and the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission were also involved in the cover-up at the time.
