The NGO, which is led by PPIM chief Nadzim Johan was once seen as a group that was close to the former ruling coalition Barisan Nasional. They gained notoriety for the sale of car number plates bearing the word "PATRIOT".
PPIM had risen to infamy last year when they protested the discovery of porcine DNA in Cadbury chocolates, which was later proven to be false.
