Which one you guys prefer?

Comfort Zone
  • Kerja selesa, takda problem, takda org kacau.
  • Facility all ok, ada parking lot sendiri, pantry luas macam2 ada, surau luas.

Opportunity
  • Di offer lebih RM500/1k dari gaji sekarang
  • Consider well-known company
  • Tapi, facility kurang such as takda parking lot for staff, parking bersepah je.

Bincangkan.

Many of us think of the “comfort zone” as a relic of ‘80s motivational psychology and a tag line on cheesy corporate “reach for success” posters. But in fact, the comfort zone is a useful psychological concept that can help you embrace risk and make changes in your life that can lead to real personal growth.

The comfort zone, as defined by Lifehacker, is a “behavioral space where your activities and behaviors fit a routine and pattern that minimizes stress and risk” — the operative words here being stress and risk. In our comfort zone, there is a sense of familiarity, security and certainty. When we step outside of our comfort zone, we’re taking a risk, and opening ourselves up to the possibility of stress and anxiety; we’re not quite sure what will happen and how we’ll react.

We’ve come to see stress as a dirty word — and for good reason — but a little bit of healthy stress can actually act as a catalyst for growth and provide a powerful motivation to act.

Within our comfort zones, generally speaking, there’s little stress. According to one theory, the term comfort zone originated in reference to the temperature zone (67 to 78 degrees) where we’re most comfortable, and feel neither hot nor cold. Psychologically, our comfort zone is the place we’re most at home.

While staying in your comfort zone can result in consistent, steady performance, stepping out of your comfort zone into a new and challenging task can create the conditions for optimal performance. Think about it: Did you ever do something you were really proud of when you were in autopilot mode?

“In an increasingly competitive, cautious and accelerated world, those who are willing to take risks, step out of their comfort zone and into the discomfort of uncertainty will be those who will reap the biggest rewards,” Margie Warrell writes in Forbes.

Ambition gets a bad rap. The trait that pushes someone toward success can sometimes turn into a game where winning isn’t about achieving; it’s about beating the other person. Channel it correctly, however, and ambition can bring great results.

“On average, ambitious people attain higher levels of education and income, build more prestigious careers, and report higher overall levels of life satisfaction,” says Neel Burton, psychiatrist and author of Heaven and Hell: The Psychology of the Emotions. “Many of man’s greatest achievements are the products, or accidents, of their ambition.”

The key is to pursue healthy ambition: “People with a high degree of healthy ambition are those with the insight and strength to control the blind forces of ambition, shaping [it] so that it matches their interests and ideals,” says Burton. “They harness it so that it fires them without also burning them or those around them.”

Nearly anyone can be ambitious given the right internal and external stimuli, says Jason Ma, author ofYoung Leaders 3.0: Stories, Insights, and Tips for Next-Generation Achievers. Here are six things you can do to harness your ambition and focus on success over competition:

1. THEY SET GOALS BUT DON’T SHARE THEM.

Ambitious people are goal-oriented and are always striving towards the next accomplishment, but healthy ambition involves keeping your goals private, said entrepreneur Derek Sivers in a 2010 TED Talk “Keep Your Goals To Yourself.”

Psychologists have found that telling someone your goal makes it less likely to happen, Siver explained: “Any time you have a goal, there are some steps that need to be done, some work that needs to be done in order to achieve it. Ideally you would not be satisfied until you’d actually done the work. But when you tell someone your goal and they acknowledge it, psychologists have found that it’s called a ‘social reality.’ The mind is kind of tricked into feeling that it’s already done. And then because you’ve felt that satisfaction, you’re less motivated to do the actual hard work necessary,” Siver said.

2. THEY ARE WILLING TO TAKE RISKS.

Ambition takes a willingness to step into fear and anxiety, says Burton. “Some people are better able to tolerate this fear, perhaps because are more courageous, committed, or driven, and can minimize the fear,” he says. “Ambitious people act with purpose, but allow themselves room to explore, experiment and discover.”

Don’t be surprised if a breakthrough emerges from a well-managed crisis

“Don’t be surprised if a breakthrough emerges from a well-managed crisis,” adds Ma, who is also CEO ofThreeEQ, a firm that mentors high-achieving teenagers and adults. “Ambition is the act of being an innovative change-maker.”

3. THEY EXPOSE THEMSELVES TO NEW WAYS OF THINKING.

Ambitious people break away from consistent groupthink, and expose themselves to new ways of thinking.

“Talk with and learn from people different from you,” suggests Ma. “Be open to dialogue with acquaintances and even select strangers, as you may uncover interesting opportunities.”

Burton says ambition makes people resourceful: “It forces us to grow, often in unexpected ways,” he says.

4. THEY ARE FOCUSED ON EXECUTION.

Often people spend the most time working on building their skill set and researching solutions or possibilities. While it’s wise to craft and execute a strategy for any given type of important vision or outcome you want to achieve, ambitious people put the main emphasis on pulling the trigger.

“An executer is one who gets shit done,” says Ma. “If your execution is poor, nothing matters.”

5. THEY DON’T COMPETE WITH OTHER PEOPLE.

Your biggest competitor should be yourself, says Ma. “Avoid the trap of comparing yourself with others, and measure success only against what you are capable of achieving,” he says. “Nothing beats hard work with focus and passion. Stretch yourself.”

6. THEY SURROUND THEMSELVES WITH OTHER AMBITIOUS PEOPLE.

Finally, Ma suggests applying the “power of proximity” by networking with clusters of successful people.

“[The late entrepreneur and author] Jim Rohn said: ‘You are the average of the five people you spend the most time with,’” says Ma. “Find role models. Befriend and learn from mentors. Make friends with people smarter than you and more successful in fields you are interested in.”

dua2 pernah la
zaman confort zone - 1 departmen aku yg punya, petiais ofis aku yg pakai sorang2, boleh outsation tanpa batasan, internet tanpa batasan, bekerja masalah boleh selesai, kunci ofis saya pegang boleh kerja sampai malam, beban kerja banyak, yg x best parking berbayar

zaman pindah lain2 company - gaji naik 1k- 4x ganda, tanggungjawab semakin besar, tekanan, beban, skop kerja semakin bertambah, sentisa bz masih boleh balik 6 pm kerja sampai malam 3 kali sebulan, 1 ofis aku yg punya, sentiasa pantas dan ke depan menyebabkan ramai jaki kerana asik didesak selesai masalah, meeting sana sini, 60GB internet mesti dihabiskan, teamwork yg bagus, pekerja yg dedekasi walau merompak sana sini, tiada petiais, parking tiada bayaran, parking 3 meter dari pintu ofis.

apapun jika company itu 70% bagus pelbagai segi stay lama sikit, company celaka markah <50% 1-3 bulan hantar surat resign ja

Comfort zone sebab dah cecah gaji yg stabil.kalau gaji belum stabil.mungkin kredit akan pertimbangkan cari kerja tawarkan gaji lebih walaupun kemudahan kurang selesa. Comfort zone kalau semua cukup ok lah.contoh.ada surau, tempat makan banyak pilihan, harga cun dan dekat, senang parking, kerja ok tak bebankan.

If the opportunity only offers a difference of rm500 with less amenities banding comfort zone, i'd choose to stay put in the comfort zone.

i would choose comfort zone....

because

comfort zones can be so comfortable. this is obvious.it’s super crucial, however, to keep in mind that, if we want to experience even a minimal amount of change, we will have to step outside of it.if we are contemplating shaking things up in our daily routine and just the mere thought of it causes slight discomfort, it means we have set your sights on the right path towards whatever it may be that we would like to acheive.

but

for me, comfort and growth cannot coexist and we won’t always have tomorrow to do what we could have done today.so embrace the discomfort and allow it to take you places.we never know what we could be missing out on by remaining complacent.

let's talk about job hopping.

this is the opportunity we have to grasp.logically, job hopping will increase our salary straight up.we are unlikely to advance if we keep the same job for too long.for me the difference of RM500 is quite small and remember, job hopping also comes with major risk.

being tagged as a job hopper.if we job hop a couple times in a short time span, we can explain it away with those companies not being the right fit.for example, if our resume is four companies in say around eight years, we are clearly a job hopper and it is a giant red flag.

whether or not corporate loyalty is dead, hiring managers do not want a salary chaser they have to replace and retrain in two to three years.do not be surprised if the opportunities start to dry up if we constantly move.especially if there is any sort of economic downturn.

joining at company with a completely different culture that does not work for us or a dumbass boss are tangible possibilities.

Even naik RM500, maybe basic dia skrg RM2k...tu dah naik 25%. Bnyk jugak.
Kalau gaji dah bnyk. Setakat naik RM500 mungkin tak berbaloi...

kedua-dua option ada pro and cons.

1) opportunity

2) comfort zone
Jika kita dah mencapai fasa2 yang mencabar, mostly bila dah berumur, and financial dah stable. just stay in comfort zone jelah..

saya xkisah pasal kemudahan
surau pantry semua tu asal ada dah cukup xsemestinya kene besar
surau besar mmg tempat utk tido je
pantry besar lama la pulak boraknya nanti
parking pon xde masalah sbb mmg sgt jarang bawa kete pegi keje
saya lebih utamakan benefit yg company bole bagi terutama utk keluarga
dlm masa sama gaji naik pon alhamdulillah
sbb skrg saya sorg je bekerja dlm keluarga jadi struggle tu dah jadi lumrah
kalo nk selesa je memanjang xbole jugak
