BTS’s “Bon Voyage” Has Skyrocketed Tourism In Malta
BTS’s vacation has had a lasting impact on Malta’s tourism.
BTS leave their mark everywhere they go, and that includes Malta.
Malta is a small island (approximately 1/6 the size of Jeju Island), located in the Mediterranean Sea. In 2018, BTS traveled here to shoot Season 3 of their annual travel-reality show, Bon Voyage.
Ever since BTS’s vacation, tourism to Malta has skyrocketed. On June 11, Trip.com released new data for Malta flight reservations. The first statistic, gathered from January 2019 to May 2019 show a 277% increased in reservations compared to the same time period in 2018.
The second set of data was gathered between September 2018 and December 2018, the same time in which BTS’s Bon Voyage aired. During this time, flight reservations increased by 1033%!

BTS is the #1 Boy Group for Digitals in the 3rd Generation.
GAON
BTS is the only boy group to have multiple songs with 100M streams and 2.5M downloads.
100M+ streams: BST, SD, DNA and FL. IDOL and BWL will soon reach this milestone by the end of this year. SD is about to surpass 200M streams. It will become the first idol group song to do so.
2.5M+ downloads: BST, SD and DNA.
iKON, Winner, Wanna One, and BTOB are the only other boy groups to have one song surpass both categories.
According to Gaon, BTS is the second best digitally performing artist in Korea from the years 2012-2019. First place: IU (WALL) and Third Place: BIGBANG.
Melon
BTS has three songs in the Top 5 longest charting songs on Melon for idol groups. Before you say it's all due to fandom streaming, how come Wanna One only has one song (their BIGGEST hit) and EXO no songs in the Top 10? Everyone knows that these three groups have the BIGGEST fandoms in Korea. Also, all three songs (BST, DNA and SD) have surpassed 100M streams and 2.5M downloads.
BTS is the most followed artist on Melon with 629K+ followers.
BTS is the ONLY boy group along with BIGBANG to surpass 900K+ unique listeners. 934,298 ULs for Boy With Luv.
BTS is the only 3rd generation boy group whose B-sides can get 400K-500K unique listeners on Melon for the first 24 hours. Mikrokosmos and Make It Right BOTH surpassed 500K ULs for the first 24 -hours.
GENIE
Since early of last year, BTS has been trending in the Top 10 Popular Searches on Genie pretty much every single day.
BTS is the boy group with the most songs with over 1.5M+ unique listeners with FIVE songs:
Spring Day (2017): 2.4M
DNA (2017): 2.1M
Fake Love (2018): 1.9M
IDOL (2018): 1.8M
Boy With Luv (2019): 1.6M
BST (2016): 1.47M**
BTOB and Wanna One come in second place with 2 songs over 1.5M unique listeners.
Overall, BTS has 8 songs with 1M+ unique listeners. The most for any boy group.
It looks like the general public has given BTS a lot of interest this last comeback. 4/6 of MOTS: Persona's B-sides have 730K-980K unique listeners. The other two have 560K-670K. Why is this important? 97% of all male idol groups can't even surpass 300K unique listeners for their title tracks on Genie. BTS is the only boy group whose b-sides can get 700K-1.3M unique listeners (they have multiple old b-sides with 800K+ - 1M). All of the other 4 best performing boy groups in digitals (W1, iKON, Winner and EXO) get 200k-550k.
By the end of 2019, 5/7 tracks from MOTS: Persona will most likely surpass 1M+ unique listeners. BWL (1.6M), Mikrokosmos (980K), Make It Right (858K), Home (732K) and Dionysus (762K). The only artist who has multiple songs from a single album to surpass 1M+ unique listeners is IU.
K-pop king BTS has sold more than 600,000 tickets on its first stadium tour
SEOUL, June 19 (Yonhap) -- K-pop king BTS has sold more than 600,000 tickets on its first stadium tour "Love Yourself: Speak Yourself" in the United States, South America and Europe, Billboard said.
"The K-pop act's first U.S. stadium tour grossed US$44 million, in addition to the $35 million earned in Europe and South America," Billboard said Friday (U.S. time).
BTS performed its first North American stadium tour with two shows apiece at Pasadena's Rose Bowl (May 4-5), Chicago's Soldier Field (May 11-12) and New Jersey's MetLife Stadium (May 18-19).
"The results were staggering, as the South Korean megastars grossed $44 million from six shows, selling 299,770 tickets according to figures reported to Billboard Boxscore," Billboard said.
Followed by stadium dates at Allianz Parque in Sao Paulo (May 25-26), London's Wembley Stadium (June 1-2) and Paris' Stade de France (June 7-8), the group added $35 million to the "Love Yourself: Speak Yourself Tour" total for a combined $78.9 million and 606,409 tickets, it said.
"Their double-header at the Rose Bowl earned $16.6 million, making it the single highest-grossing engagement in the venue's Boxscore history, outpacing previous high marks by Taylor Swift and U2, as well as co-headlining stints by Beyonce & Jay-Z and Eminem & Rihanna," Billboard said.
BTS will continue its stadium tour in two Japanese cities next month -- Yanmar Stadium in Osaka (July 6-7) and Stadium Ecopa in Shizuoka (July 13-14).
Meanwhile, the Hyundai Search Institute, a Seoul-based economic think tank, said in a recent report that the group's agency, Big Hit Entertainment, is estimated to have become a unicorn startup whose valuation is $1 billion or more.
