[Warning : Disturbing Content] Torture and brutality in literature

In honor of Halloween, I’ve decided to write a list of my top 5 torture films!
As I researched my memory for ‘torture porn’ films I’ve enjoyed, I began to think of some of the more extreme examples– ABC’s of Death, Cannibal Holocaust, A Saberian Film, etc. — And frankly, I’ve realized I have limits! (Woah!) I prefer my torture films to be gorey, but fun!– both disturbing and surreal.
I decided not to include hyper bloody horror films such as Dead Alive, House of 1000 Corpses, Return of the Living Dead, etc– but rather those films that make you[me] uncomfortable, and at the same time, begging for more.
5. Hostel (2005)Eli Roth broke into the genre with Hostel.
Three backpackers head to a Slovak city that promises to meet their hedonistic expectations, with no idea of the hell that awaits them.
Various rich sadists are involved in a sinister secret society called, Elite Hunting. Here they are free to select from a room of torture tools, and get their jollies torturing blind-sdied tourists!
4. Saw (2004)
The original Saw film was a huge inspiration for me as a filmmaker. The majority of the film took place in 1 room! With only 2 actors!
Two strangers awake in a room with no recollection of how they got there or why, and soon discover they are pawns in a deadly game perpetrated by a notorious serial killer.
I looked forward to going to the theater each halloween to watch a new installment of the Saw series! Great treacherous gore, creative torture schemes, and an insane level of mystery and intensity.
3. Last House on the Left (1972)Wes Craven delivers a masterpiece of 1970’s fueled hyper realism.
Two teenage girls head to a rock concert for one’s birthday. While trying to score marijuana in the city, they are kidnapped and brutalized by a gang of psychotic convicts.
Something about the shakey film reel recordings make it feel so deeply disturbing. This film was widely considered one of the first horror films set in reality, without any supernatural effects. This one has violence, depravity, and dismembered hippies.
2. The Bunny Games (2011)
This film found it’s way to me through a friend, and fellow video professional– friends of the filmmakers, if memory serves.
A prostitute looking for her next meal hitches a ride with a trucker that leaves her praying for her next breath.
This woman is tied up in the back of a truck, and slowly beaten, cut, branded, and tortured. The long, tense takes left me on the edge of my seat, and fighting not to look away.
1. Texas Chainsaw Massacre (1974)The first time I watched The Texas Chainsaw Massacre, I was about 8 years old. I was convinced it was snuff footage, and couldn’t sleep for weeks. Looking back at it, the grit and reality of the film still hold up today!
Two siblings visit their grandfather’s grave in Texas along with three of their friends and are attacked by a family of cannibalistic psychopaths.

kalau cik seri tengok martyrs 2008, movie2 macam cannibal holocaust dan the hostel jadi macam movie2 walt disney je.
sama juga macam orang kata seram giler movie annabelle, the conjuring, IT, bila tengok hereditary, movie2 tu semua jadi macam pontianak harum sundal malam je. |

Habis juga aku baca thread ni. Apa yang membuatkan aku tertarik dgn thread ni adalah papan tanda "Warning" tu dalam pada masa yang sama isi-isi yang dikongsi kan korang semua sgt bgus. Thrill, horror, mystery juga adlah genre kegemaran aku tambah-tambah yang berkaitan dgn pembunuh bersiri. Aku mmg suka menyelami mcm mana cara pembunuh ni berfikir dan juga memeerhati tingkah laku mereka.
BTW, syabas nancy sbb tahu cita rasa aku. |

Thank you TT untuk thread ni. Gigih baca dari awal kupasan sampai ler habis.
Tak pernah tengok Martys 2008 tapi I antara yang tengok koleksi Saw, Hostel, etc rasa macam tengok Walt Disney sambil makan Kitkat jah.
Masa kecik, I tengok citer Texas Chainsaw Massacre (My first citer with disturbing content untuk budak budak) lepas tu macam craving for more pulak. Aduh kan da jadi tak betul, sapa suruh tak ikut guideline movie.
Owh btw I suka cerita yang ada depth & layers, samada storyline mahupun character, so boleh tak pm link citer ni untuk i study? Haha gittu ayat  |

Sy pernah terbaca komen psl serbian film tu..most of them mmg kata tak patut wujud..so far sy x tg ...
Sebut pasal Sion Sono, I pernah tengok movie dia tajuk Himizu.
Kisah pasal depravity vs hope pasca tsunami. Pemilihan & pengulangan melodi, bunyi semua on point sangat dengan apa dia nak sampaikan, buat kita kecelaruan minda & tak selesa sepanjang tengok. Tak reti nak explain, yang penting satu hari tu I jadi weng dan kosong skejap hahaha.
Tapi I suka citer dia artistik + disturbing gitu |
