"Tuanku (Agong) masa saya berkenalan pandai menulis surat tetapi apabila berjumpa senyap.

"Tuanku Agong panggil saya Ji."

A UK YouTuber is selling a life-like doll version of newborn son priced from RM1,400

UK-based YouTube content creators Chris and Sarah Ingham are selling a realistic-looking doll version of their newborn son Jace, with a price tag starting from £279 (RM1,400). In a video posted on July 19. Sarah explained that the doll is modelled after Jace when he was just two weeks old. Customers who purchase the doll will receive a mock birth certificate with a photo of real baby Jace.

According to a description
posted on the doll maker site Mary Shortle, the doll was hand-painted by an artist and only 250 pieces were made for purchase. New owners of the doll will also get the chance to meet the Ingham Family in a specially-organised tea party event for baby Jace at a later date.

"We'll have a party. We'll get some food in and all of us will be there. You get to meet the real Jace and have a good time," Sarah said in the YouTube video.

In an interview with BuzzFeed News
, the Ingham family patriarch Chris felt the doll was a great idea for fans who have been supporting the family on YouTube. He explained that the baby Jace doll is specially made to represent his son and not just a mere replica.

"Baby reborn dolls bring so much joy and happiness to so many children and people alike throughout the world, our children included. So why not bring something positive to our own followers like that?"

Some users on YouTube however, criticised the family's decision to sell the Jace doll. One user described the act as "unbelievably weird and irresponsible" while a few mentioned that it was "creepy".

Chris responded to the backlash saying there is too much focus on mean comments.

"Unfortunately we live in a world where people thrive on negativity so tend to only focus on that. Completely disregard all the positivity and overwhelming support in favour of the gossip and 'drama' side of life instead. Which is very sad."

The Ingham Family channel on YouTube has over 1.2 million subscribers with content focusing on the family's every day life. Chris and Sarah has three other daughters; 13-year-old Isabelle, nine-year-old Esme and seven-year-old Isla. Baby Jace was born in March this year.

Menteri Kesihatan, Datuk Seri Dr Dzulkefly Ahmad berkata, kementerian prihatin mengenai kebimbangan masyarakat, khususnya ibu bapa mengenai penularan penggunaan rokok elektronik di kalangan pelajar sekolah.

A whopper of a tale … but a true one!

KOTA KINABALU: A huge fish was found floating in the Tun Fuad Stephens lake in Bukit Padang near here, causing excitement among anglers and members of the general public.

The 108kg fish measuring about 2.4m in length was identified as Arapaima, a kind of Amazon fish, and was discovered by morning joggers at about 6.30am Monday (Aug 5).

A photo of the fish that was widely circulated on social media had people questioning whether the protected lake was now open for fishing.
Mayor Datuk Nordin Siman said the park is still under City Hall management and no one is allowed to fish at the lake there.

“The fish was already dead when joggers noticed it, and we sent people to check, ” he said.

Nordin added that officials from the Fisheries Department and a University Malaysia Sabah (UMS) research team will attempt to find out the cause of death.
For now, they believe it may be due to old age.

Asked how a fish from a species that originates from the Amazon ended up in the lake, Nordin said a fish breeder might have put it there years ago as the person could no longer take care of it.

What is an autoimmune disease?
An autoimmune disease is a condition in which your immune system mistakenly attacks your body.

The immune system normally guards against germs like bacteria and viruses. When it senses these foreign invaders, it sends out an army of fighter cells to attack them.

Normally, the immune system can tell the difference between foreign cells and your own cells.

In an autoimmune disease, the immune system mistakes part of your body, like your joints or skin, as foreign. It releases proteins called autoantibodies that attack healthy cells.

Some autoimmune diseases target only one organ. Type 1 diabetes damages the pancreas. Other diseases, like systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE), affect the whole body.

Why does the immune system attack the body?
Doctors don’t know exactly what causes the immune-system misfire. Yet some people are more likely to get an autoimmune disease than others.

According to a 2014 study, women get autoimmune diseases at a rate of about 2 to 1 compared to men — 6.4 percent of women vs. 2.7 percent of men. Often the disease starts during a woman’s childbearing years (ages 15 to 44).

Some autoimmune diseases are more common in certain ethnic groups. For example, lupus affects more African-American and Hispanic people than Caucasians.

Certain autoimmune diseases, like multiple sclerosis and lupus, run in families. Not every family member will necessarily have the same disease, but they inherit a susceptibility to an autoimmune condition.

Because the incidence of autoimmune diseases is rising, researchers suspect environmental factors like infections and exposure to chemicals or solvents might also be involved.

A “Western diet” is another suspected risk factor for developing an autoimmune disease. Eating high-fat, high-sugar, and highly processed foods is thought to be linked to inflammation, which might set off an immune response. However, this hasn’t been proven.

A 2015 study focused on another theory called the hygiene hypothesis. Because of vaccines and antiseptics, children today aren’t exposed to as many germs as they were in the past. The lack of exposure could make their immune system prone to overreact to harmless substances.

BOTTOM LINE: Researchers don’t know exactly what causes autoimmune diseases. Genetics, diet, infections, and exposure to chemicals might be involved.

14 common autoimmune diseases
There are more than 80 different autoimmune diseases. Here are 14 of the most common ones.

1. Type 1 diabetes
The pancreas produces the hormone insulin, which helps regulate blood sugar levels. In type 1 diabetes mellitus, the immune system attacks and destroys insulin-producing cells in the pancreas.

High blood sugar results can lead to damage in the blood vessels, as well as organs like the heart, kidneys, eyes, and nerves.

2. Rheumatoid arthritis (RA)
In rheumatoid arthritis (RA), the immune system attacks the joints. This attack causes redness, warmth, soreness, and stiffness in the joints.

Unlike osteoarthritis, which commonly affects people as they get older, RA can start as early as your 30s or sooner.

3. Psoriasis/psoriatic arthritis
Skin cells normally grow and then shed when they’re no longer needed. Psoriasis causes skin cells to multiply too quickly. The extra cells build up and form inflamed red patches, commonly with silver-white scales of plaque on the skin.

Up to 30 percent of people with psoriasis also develop swelling, stiffness, and pain in their joints. This form of the disease is called psoriatic arthritis.

4. Multiple sclerosis
Multiple sclerosis (MS) damages the myelin sheath, the protective coating that surrounds nerve cells, in your central nervous system. Damage to the myelin sheath slows the transmission speed of messages between your brain and spinal cord to and from the rest of your body.

This damage can lead to symptoms like numbness, weakness, balance issues, and trouble walking. The disease comes in several forms that progress at different rates. According to a 2012 studyTrusted Source, about 50 percent of people with MS need help walking within 15 years after the disease starts.

5. Systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE)
Although doctors in the 1800s first described lupus as a skin disease because of the rash it commonly produces, the systemic form, which is most the common, actually affects many organs, including the joints, kidneys, brain, and heart.

Joint pain, fatigue, and rashes are among the most common symptoms.

6. Inflammatory bowel disease
Inflammatory bowel disease (IBD) is a term used to describe conditions that cause inflammation in the lining of the intestinal wall. Each type of IBD affects a different part of the GI tract.

Crohn’s disease can inflame any part of the GI tract, from the mouth to the anus.
Ulcerative colitisaffects only the lining of the large intestine (colon) and rectum.
7. Addison’s disease
Addison’s disease affects the adrenal glands, which produce the hormones cortisol and aldosterone as well as androgen hormones. Having too little of cortisol can affect the way the body uses and stores carbohydrates and sugar (glucose). Deficiency of aldosterone will lead to sodium loss and excess potassium in the bloodstream.

Symptoms include weakness, fatigue, weight loss, and low blood sugar.

8. Graves’ disease
Graves’ disease attacks the thyroid gland in the neck, causing it to produce too much of its hormones. Thyroid hormones control the body’s energy usage, known as metabolism.

Having too much of these hormones revs up your body’s activities, causing symptoms like nervousness, a fast heartbeat, heat intolerance, and weight loss.

One potential symptom of this disease is bulging eyes, called exophthalmos. It can occur as a part of what is called Graves’ ophthalmopathy, which occurs in around 30 percent of those who have Graves’ disease, according to a 1993 studyTrusted Source.

9. Sjögren’s syndrome
This condition attacks the glands that provide lubrication to the eyes and mouth. The hallmark symptoms of Sjögren’s syndrome are dry eyes and dry mouth, but it may also affect the joints or skin.

10. Hashimoto’s thyroiditis
In Hashimoto’s thyroiditis, thyroid hormone production slows to a deficiency. Symptoms include weight gain, sensitivity to cold, fatigue, hair loss, and swelling of the thyroid (goiter).

11. Myasthenia gravis
Myasthenia gravis affects nerve impulses that help the brain control the muscles. When the communication from nerves to muscles is impaired, signals can’t direct the muscles to contract.

The most common symptom is muscle weakness that gets worse with activity and improves with rest. Often muscles that control eye movements, eyelid opening, swallowing, and facial movements are involved.

12. Autoimmune vasculitis
Autoimmune vasculitis happens when the immune system attacks blood vessels. The inflammation that results narrows the arteries and veins, allowing less blood to flow through them.

13. Pernicious anemia
This condition causes deficiency of a protein, made by stomach lining cells, known as intrinsic factor that is needed in order for the small intestine to absorb vitamin B-12 from food. Without enough of this vitamin, one will develop an anemia, and the body’s ability for proper DNA synthesis will be altered.

Pernicious anemia is more common in older adults. According to a 2012 study, it affects 0.1 percent of people in general, but nearly 2 percent of people over age 60.

14. Celiac disease
People with celiac disease can’t eat foods containing gluten, a protein found in wheat, rye, and other grain products. When gluten is in the small intestine, the immune system attacks this part of the gastrointestinal tract and causes inflammation.

A 2015 studyTrusted Source noted that celiac disease affects about 1 percent of people in the United States. A larger number of people have reported gluten sensitivity, which isn’t an autoimmune disease, but can have similar symptoms like diarrhea and abdominal pain.

Autoimmune disease symptoms
The early symptoms of many autoimmune diseases are very similar, such as:

fatigue
achy muscles
swelling and redness
low-grade fever
trouble concentrating
numbness and tingling in the hands and feet
hair loss
skin rashes
Individual diseases can also have their own unique symptoms. For example, type 1 diabetes causes extreme thirst, weight loss, and fatigue. IBD causes belly pain, bloating, and diarrhea.

With autoimmune diseases like psoriasis or RA, symptoms may come and go. A period of symptoms is called a flare-up. A period when the symptoms go away is called remission.

BOTTOM LINE: Symptoms like fatigue, muscle aches, swelling, and redness could be signs of an autoimmune disease. Symptoms might come and go over time.

When to see a doctor
See a doctor if you have symptoms of an autoimmune disease. You might need to visit a specialist, depending on the type of disease you have.

Rheumatologists treat joint diseases, like rheumatoid arthritis as well as other autoimmune diseases like Sjögren’s syndrome and SLE.
Gastroenterologists treat diseases of the GI tract, such as celiac and Crohn’s disease.
Endocrinologists treat conditions of the glands, including Graves’ disease, Hashimoto’s thyroiditis, and Addison’s disease.
Dermatologists treat skin conditions, such as psoriasis.
Tests that diagnose autoimmune diseases
No single test can diagnose most autoimmune diseases. Your doctor will use a combination of tests and a review of your symptoms and physical examination to diagnose you.

The antinuclear antibody test (ANA) is often one of the first tests that doctors use when symptoms suggest an autoimmune disease. A positive test means you may have one of these diseases, but it won’t confirm exactly which one you have or if you have one for sure.

Other tests look for specific autoantibodies produced in certain autoimmune diseases. Your doctor might also do nonspecific tests to check for the inflammation these diseases produce in the body.

BOTTOM LINE: A positive ANA blood test may be indicative of an autoimmune disease. Your doctor can use your symptoms and other tests to confirm the diagnosis.

How are autoimmune diseases treated?
Treatments can’t cure autoimmune diseases, but they can control the overactive immune response and bring down inflammation or at least reduce pain and inflammation. Drugs used to treat these conditions include:

nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs), such as ibuprofen (Motrin, Advil) and naproxen (Naprosyn)
immune-suppressing drugs
Treatments are also available to relieve symptoms like pain, swelling, fatigue, and skin rashes.

Eating a well-balanced diet and getting regular exercise may also help you feel better.

BOTTOM LINE: The main treatment for autoimmune diseases is with medications that bring down inflammation and calm the overactive immune response. Treatments can also help relieve symptoms.

The bottom line
More than 80 different autoimmune diseases exist. Often their symptoms overlap, making them hard to diagnose.

Autoimmune diseases are more common in women, and they often run in families.

Blood tests that look for autoantibodies can help doctors diagnose these conditions. Treatments include medications to calm the overactive immune response and bring down inflammation in the body.

Seramai 9 mangsa dikatakan menaiki lif terbabit ketika kejadian.

Bahrain family’s holiday takes tragic turn after child falls from 9th floor of apartment

JOHOR BARU: A vacation turned into a tragedy for a Bahrain family when their five-year-old son fell to his death at a serviced apartment complex in Iskandar Puteri.

Iskandar Puteri OCPD Asst Comm Dzulkhairi Mukhtar said the victim's body was found lying face down on the third floor at the complex’s swimming pool area.

“Police received a report about the incident through the MERS 999 emergency number at around 6.05pm on Monday (Aug 5).
“Inspection from the police forensic unit found that the victim had died at the scene.

ACP Dzulkhairi said the victim's mother was cooking at the time the victim was playing with his younger brother in the living room. Her husband had gone downstairs to do some shopping.

She suspected something amiss when her children's laughter stopped. After realising only her youngest child was in the living room, she searched for the victim in the bedrooms and toilets.

“The mother then noticed a window was slightly open and when she looked down, she saw her son’s lifeless body.

“The father told the police that the family just arrived at the serviced apartment complex, ” he said, adding that a security member who witnessed the child falling had reported the incident to the management.

ACP Dzulkhairi said there were no CCTV cameras at the scene and the victim's body has been sent to Sultanah Aminah Hospital for a post-mortem.
He added that police have classified the case as sudden death.

Sun bear spotted in Jeli villages

Nor Fazlina Abdul Rahim

KOTA BHARU: A sun bear has been spotted roaming the orchards in Kampung Reka and Kampung Timur near Kuala Belah, Jeli since last week.

Kelantan Wildlife and National Parks Department director Ady Ermanty Haniff Mohamed Hanif said the department received information on the matter from the villagers on July 31. He said the villagers were worried for their safety.

“Following that, four personnel from Jeli wildlife office went to the location to conduct checks. They also set up a trap using cempedak fruit,” he said when contacted.

He added that it was possible that the animal came out of the jungle to find food at the orchards as fruits are now in season.

“Jeli office is continuously monitoring the situation,” he said.

It was recently reported that Felda Perasu settlers in Gua Musang were facing similar problems when a sun bear was found wandering in their settlement last week.

Tiada masalah sastera Melayu ‘dirampas’ agamawan, kata DBP

Is there a link between dark chocolate and depression?

Published: Tuesday 6 August 2019 Written by: Tim Newman

A survey-based study looking at chocolate consumption and depression finds that people who eat dark chocolate are less likely to report depressive symptoms. What do these findings mean, and can we trust them?
Over the years, chocolate has been the focus of a great deal of research.

Thanks to its flavor and texture, chocolate is a popular food. As a result, a large number of people tend to read and share any studies that investigate its potential health benefits.

Overall, its high sugar and fat content make chocolate a snack for people to enjoy in moderation, but consumers and experts are keen to find hidden depths to this silky wonder.

The most recent addition to chocolate's body of research comes from University College London (UCL) in the United Kingdom. The UCL team worked in conjunction with scientists from the University of Calgary and Alberta Health Services Canada.

The title of the UCL press release is, "People who eat dark chocolate less likely to be depressed," which is a bold header, indeed.

Before we continue, it is worth explaining that, as far as we can tell, this study did not receive funding from any chocolate manufacturers. The scientists published their results in the journal Depression & Anxiety.

Why study chocolate and depression?

Globally, depression is a sizable issue. Currently, talking therapies and medication are the most common treatments. As the authors explain, talking therapies are often oversubscribed, so doctors prescribe most people antidepressants.

However, these medications do not work for everyone. Also, according to the authors of the current study, about half of the people who receive a prescription for these drugs stop taking them within 6 weeks of beginning treatment.

Finding lifestyle interventions that can improve depressive symptoms is a priority. Physical activity appears to benefit some people with depression, but it does not help everyone, and not everyone is physically able to exercise.

Over the years, other scientists have also turned to dietary interventions to reduce depressive symptoms, with some success. Along these lines, the authors of the latest study explain that "[o]ne commonly consumed foodstuff postulated to have mood‐enhancing properties is chocolate."

However, over the years, there have only been a few studies looking at whether chocolate truly can elevate mood in a clinically relevant way, and these experiments have produced mixed results.

A more thorough approach

According to the authors, earlier studies did not account for a wide enough range of variables, and none looked at how the type of chocolate might influence the findings.

So, in their new study, the scientists controlled for a large number of potentially confounding variables, including weight, height, marital status, education, ethnicity, income, levels of education, smoking, and other health conditions.

They also analyzed dark chocolate and nondark chocolate separately.

The scientists took data from the United States National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey. After excluding individuals who were underweight or had diabetes, they had 13,626 participants aged 20 years or older.

They assessed depressive symptoms using the Patient Health Questionnaire, which is a standard diagnostic tool for mental health disorders.

Information regarding chocolate consumption came from two 24-hour dietary recalls. The team took the first one in a face-to-face interview and the second via a telephone interview 3–10 days later.

The important question

Overall, 1,332 (11.1%) participants reported eating chocolate and, of these, 148 reported eating dark chocolate.

Individuals who ate chocolate were more likely to be non-Hispanic white and have a higher household income. They were also less likely to smoke or have obesity.

After taking into account the relevant variables, the researchers concluded that, overall, there was no association between chocolate consumption and a reduction in depressive symptoms. However, the story changed when they looked specifically at dark chocolate. The authors report:

"[I]ndividuals who reported any dark chocolate consumption had 70% lower odds of reporting clinically relevant depressive symptoms than those who did not report any chocolate consumption."
They also found that individuals who ate the most chocolate, regardless of its type, were less likely to report clinically relevant depressive symptoms than those who consumed no chocolate.

Is this good news?

The media might herald these findings as excellent news for chocolate lovers, but the authors call for caution. The study is observational, so the team cannot conclude that chocolate relieves depression. As lead author Dr. Sarah Jackson from UCL outlines:

"Further research is required to clarify the direction of causation — it could be the case that depression causes people to lose their interest in eating chocolate, or there could be other factors that make people both less likely to eat dark chocolate and to be depressed."

Also, Dr. Jackson explains that even if future research does establish a causal relationship, scientists will need to carry out more work to understand the biological mechanism and determine the "type and amount of chocolate consumption for optimal depression prevention and management."

Aside from the thorny issue of causation, it is worth remembering that although the study involved more than 13,000 people, only 148 — a relatively small pool of people — consumed dark chocolate.

Also, the researchers only recorded food intake for two 24-hour periods. It is easy to argue that this might not reflect someone's standard food intake over a week, let alone across months or years.

In total, the findings add another layer to a relatively muddled collection of findings. Eating dark chocolate may or may not relieve depressive symptoms. While we await further research, moderation is probably the wisest path to tread.

Amirul was a cheerful person, he could not have committed suicide, says friend

Luqman Arif Abdul Karim

KUALA LUMPUR: Amirul Ashraff Md Azhar, the Malaysian student who passed away in Sydney, Australia had always laughed when faced with life's pressure.
His friend, Abdul Muhaimin Abdul Rao said this in dismissing claims that Amirul Ashraff or "Sanen" as he was more commonly known as amongst friends, had committed suicide.

"We are angry with those who are saying that he died because he committed suicide, in fact Sanen usually laughed when he faced any pressure," Abdul Muhaimin said.
Amirul Ashraff, a final year Majlis Amanah Rakyat (MARA) student of Mechatronic Engineering at the University of Technology Sydney died after falling off an apartment building yesterday.
He was previously a student of the Langkawi Mara Junior Science College (MRSM).
Recalling his friendship with Amirul Ashraff over the past six years, Abdul Muhaimin described the former as an entertainer and had always excelled in his studies.
He was always ready to help his friends and share knowledge.
During a phone conversation they had in early July, Abdul Muhaimin said Amirul Ashraff had talked about failing several subjects but did not display any indication of being depressed.
"He said he did not make it through his exams, but he joked about it. I told him that failing (subjects) was normal, he can always repeat and he agreed with what I said.
[[gn4id:16968888]]
"There was no indication of pressure in the tone of his voice throughout our phone conversation, in fact we were just laughing. That was the kind of person he was... a cheerful individual who enjoyed making others laugh," he said when contacted today.
MARA in a statement yesterday said Amirul Ashraff, 22, died after slipping and falling from his apartment unit.
The information, said MARA, was gleaned from the authorities in Sydney.
His death however sparked negative speculation by certain quarters who gave the impression that Amirul Ashraff commited suicide after having failed five subjects.
Angry with the speculation, Abdul Muhaimin who is a final year MARA student at the University of Auckland in New Zealand said Amirul Ashraff spent a lot of time playing online games to overcome the pressures of studying.
"The night before the incident, a close friend of ours, Azamuddin, who is now studying at the Universiti Kuala Lumpur Malaysia France Institute (UniKL MFI) played Dota (online game) with him (Amirul Ashraff)," Abdul Muhaimin said.
He added that Azamuddin said Amirul Ashraff had appeared cheerful and won three times in the game.
"How is it possible that things happened the way it did the very next day?" Abdul Muhaimin remarked, rejecting the possibility that his friend had succumbed to the pressures of life and resorted to taking his own life.

Cukai minuman bergula wajar demi kesihatan

- Gambar hiasan

“Dia masih muda, kalau tak silap dalam usia 30-an tapi dah kena penyakit kencing manis.

Kerajaan begitu fokus mahu memerangi diabetes iaitu antara salah satu Penyakit Tidak Berjangkit (NCD), memandangkan jumlah penghidapnya semakin meningkat saban tahun.

Apple reveals special new iPhones for security researchers
[size=1.4]

[size=1.4]

[size=1.4]
Apple is planning to supply special iPhones to security researchers next year to help them find security flaws in iOS. The devices will be made available to researchers that report bugs through the company’s invitation-only bug bounty program for iOS. Apple first launched this bug bounty program three years ago at the Black Hat conference, and it’s now extending its use at the same conference today to cover macOS, Apple Watch, Apple TV, and more.
Apple’s iOS Security Research Device program will be available to researchers with a track record of high-quality security research on any platform, so not every regular developer will be able to access these devices. The handsets will come with ssh, a root shell, and advanced debug capabilities, all designed to make it easier for security researchers to spot bugs.

While these special iPhone dev devices will be more open to security researches, they won’t have the deep level of access that internal Apple developers and the company’s security team have.

PUTRAJAYA (Bernama): Prime Minister Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad drove visiting Indonesian President Joko Widodo in a Proton Persona to a luncheon he hosted at Seri Perdana, the prime minister’s official residence on Friday (Aug 8).

The two leaders left in the car from the Perdana Putra Building where they had had a four-eyed meeting.

Joko, popularly known as Jokowi, arrived Thursday (Aug 8) for a two-day visit to Malaysia. He was accompanied by his wife, Iriana Joko Widodo, and an entourage.

Dr Mahathir drove the red Proton Persona bearing registration number B 2367 A, which was followed by the other vehicles carrying members of the Indonesian entourage.
