PETALING JAYA: The call to boycott non-Muslim products is not only unhealthy for the nation but will adversely impact workers and their employers, says the Malaysian Trades Union Congress.
Any such campaign will result in workers from all races and religions losing out across the board, says MTUC president Datuk Abdul Halim Mansor.
“We champion the cause of all 15 million workers in the country irrespective of race or religion and they are the pulse of the industrial and services sectors.
“What they need now is help to get higher wages, better welfare and humane work conditions and our focus will only be on this.
“Our job will be made difficult by these kinds of activities as they will have an impact on their employers,” he said yesterday.
MTUC, he added, agreed with the groups encouraging the use of halal products by Muslims as “it is in line with Islamic principles” and that it is also acceptable to encourage Malaysians to focus on bumiputra products.“However, it should not be at the expense of boycotting other local products,” he said.
MTUC also strongly opposed the overdrive by certain groups, including politicians, who use racial and religious attempts to poison consumers’ minds by asking them to boycott products and services by a certain community, Abdul Halim said.
“We hope workers will not buy into this sensational call which we believe is aimed at raising hatred. This boycott must be opposed for the progress and future of Malaysia, which is for all races and religion,” he said.
Meanwhile, in Bidor, Perak, Domestic Trade and Consumer Affairs Minister Datuk Seri Saifuddin Nasution Ismail reiterated the government’s commitment to promote Malaysian-made products – such promotions, he said, are not only conducted locally but for the overseas market as well.
“When we talk about Malaysian-made, it does not matter whether it is produced by the Chinese, Malay, Indian, Kadazan, Iban or others. What matters is that if the product is Malaysian, it deserves to be promoted,” he told reporters after a tree-planting ceremony organised by Aeon Co (M) Bhd.Saifuddin said when a campaign to promote Malaysian goods succeeds, all races in the country would benefit.
He said among the initiatives taken were through exhibitions and sales festivals in the nation and abroad.
“I will be attending the halal festivals in Sarajevo and Cape Town this month.
“Apart from that, a franchise programme is also being held in Jakarta,” he said.
In addition, the ministry had a collaboration with AirAsia through its e-commerce platform, he added. |

Depa dapat bayaran ke caner bila dapat publish propa kat media?
Nampak gaya, knights ni dapat bnyk duit elaun sebulan dua ni (pasal BMF) kalau gitu..

bukan dia tak paham. dia paham tu. cuma, mereka2 ini terkenal sebagai golongan yang suka play victim dan akan memburuk2kan orang lain dengan apa cara sekali pun.

Eh sapa pulak yg boikot memboikot ni. Bukan boikot.. cuma kempen beli produk muslim.
Suka kan bagi statement provokasi. Kempen2 ni dah lama.. dr aku kecik lagi kita dah sibuk dgn kempen belilah barangan malaysia.
So kalau nak buat kempen beli produk muslim apa isu besar sgt.
Ish mengada2 la korang ni. Suka draamaaaa |
