Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker (also known as Star Wars: Episode IX – The Rise of Skywalker) is an upcoming American epic space-opera film produced, co-written, and directed by J. J. Abrams. It will be the third installment of the Star Wars sequel trilogy, following The Force Awakens (2015) and The Last Jedi (2017), and the final episode of the nine-part "Skywalker saga". The Rise of Skywalker will see the Resistance face the First Order once more, and the end of the ancient conflict between the Jedi and the Sith. Principal photography began in August 2018 at Pinewood Studios in England, and wrapped in February 2019. The film is scheduled to be released in the United States on December 20, 2019.

Star Wars: Rise of Skywalker deep-dive final trailer breakdown

Rey in the jungle.

Notice the helmet she dropped had the blast shield down and there’s a little orb following — Rey might have been interupted while practicing the Force with a training remote. She deflects a blast as she flees. She also might have something red in her hand as she jumps? Also: Look at her jump!

Pre-battle meeting?

The first voiceover is Finn, saying the Force brought them together. The second is Poe Dameron, talking about the Resistance and how “good people will fight if we lead them.” The group is assembled at what looks like a pre-battle meeting. The crowd includes a Mon Calamari and they appear to be looking to Poe and Finn.

A familiar ship?

The ship flying over the trees might be an Alderaan Cruiser — like Leia used in the opening of A New Hope. Later, Leia is in the forest embracing Rey. Is she on the ship?

Kijimi revealed?

TIE fighters head toward an ice structure. Could this be the frigid mountainous planet Kijimi, where Zorri Bliss is from? There’s also an intriguing shot of a Star Destroyer bursting out of the water or ice.

The Emperor's throne

The ice planet might also be the same location as this ghostly throne. “Long have I waited,” Palpatine intones. “And now your coming together… is your undoing.” This line echoes back to Jedi when the Emperor warned Luke that “faith in your friends” would be his undoing. The throne matches early concept sketches of the Emperor’s throne room dating back to 1981 by legendary Star Wars artist Ralph McQuarrie.

New ship alert!

Since the cockpit is open air, one assumes it’s actually meant to travel on the ocean despite having a rather bumpy ride. We can’t see its occupant but its presumably Rey given the ship’s apparent destination.

Rey vs. Kylo

They’re fighting on the ruins of the Death Star, right? (Presumably the second one). “People keep telling me they know me. No one does,” Rey says, in what sounds like a nod to the glimpse of Darth Rey in the previous footage.

Kylo ready to fight

“But I do,” a soggy Kylo tells Rey as advances.

Finn furious

Wait, does Finn become entangled in that Rey vs. Kylo fight?

He's doomed?

The little alien who works on C-3P0 is Babu Frik, an Anzellan droidsmith who works with the Spice Runners of Kijimi (there’s that planet again). C-3P0 ominously says he’s “taking one last look… at my friends.” Which sounds like Threepio is going to die. But would this line be in the trailer if he was? Then again: Threepio has been predicting imminent doom since 1977.

Zorri Bliss with the gang

Keri Russell’s Zorri Bliss, described as a scoundrel with connection to Poe, is in a trailer for the first time, hanging out with the Resistance. Presumably they’re near the ice planet since they’re all wearing coats.

Blast from the past

Rey and Kylo are definitely in the wreckage of the second Death Star from Jedi with the Emperor’s wrecked throne in the background.

Desert fight

From a desert sequence as Finn, Poe, and Threepio flee what appears to be stormtroopers. BB-8 releases a kind of dust bomb.

Ghost spotted

The main ship from the animated series Star Wars: Rebels makes it into the fleet during this shot in the trailer.

Orbaks!

Resistance fighters including Finn and warrior newcomer Jannah riding orbaks (furry horse-like creatures native to the planet Pasaana) across a Star Destroyer in a battle.

Ready to fly

Poe in the Millennium Falcon for the first time.

Working together again

They fight — but wait, Rey and Kylo also team up again? And what is the black thing they’re smashing? And look carefully: Rey holding a dagger in her left hand! So many questions in this shot.

Rey vs. The Emperor

And even more in this one. Is this the same throne as earlier? There are electronic components in the back of this one. Is it Palpatine in the flesh or as a hologram? And is his throne actually advancing on her? Are those his fingers creeping out from the side? And how many thrones are in this movie?

Star Wars: The Rise Of Skywalker Star Naomi Ackie Reveals New Character Details For Jannah

Star Wars fans, can you believe were now just two months away from the conclusion to the Skywalker Saga? Rise of Skywalker is coming up quick and it seems as though with each new piece of information we learn, the longer the list of questions become. The new characters joining the franchise have particularly kept quiet, such as Naomi Ackie, who will play a character named Jannah.

Finally, the End of the Fucking World actress is offering up tidbits about Jannah, who can be spotted riding with John Boyega’s Finn on the Millennium Falcon in the latest trailer released during this summer’s D23 Expo. Here’s how Naomi Ackie describes her Star Wars character:

Jannah is a warrior, and she comes into contact with the rest of the group at a point where they need some help. She is part of the Resistance, and she’s spent a long time acquiring skills that might be helpful when it comes to the big conclusion of the film. So she shows up at the right time.

Okay… she sounds so badass. Jannah could play an important role in the film as the Resistance fights off the First Order. Perhaps, she’ll cross paths with Rise of Skywalker’s core heroes Rey, Finn and Poe and become part of their larger goal to take down Kylo Ren and his army. Ackie teases her particular skills that will come in handy during the film, which includes her donning a bow and arrow and riding a new horse-like creature called an “orbak”. She explains further:

I was training for seven months, three times a week, at an amazing horse ranch called The Devil’s Horsemen. By the end of it, I could canter without any hands. I could play catch with balls while on a horse… It’s the best part of the job – you get paid to learn!

As the actress told Total Film Magazine (via GamesRadar), she took the time to train the awesome skills her character will show off in Rise of Skywalker for almost a year with horses. It sounds like Jannah can do some cool multi-tasking on the orbak that is sure to be impressive to witness on the big screen in December.
Jannah is one of four main new characters we’ll meet in Rise of Skywalker. Richard E. Grant, Keri Russell and Dominic Monaghan will also play curious characters in the Star Wars universe we’ve yet to meet. Some have theorized Naomi Ackie’s character will be the daughter of Lando Calrissian. Billy Dee Williams is returning after all, and when asked this at the Star Wars Celebration, she didn’t deflate the rumor. It would certainly weave well into the pattern of family members often being explored and shockingly revealed throughout the franchise.

Naomi Ackie will also join the cast including Oscar Isaac, Daisy Ridley, Adam Driver, Mark Hamill, Lupita Nyong’o, Domhnall Gleeson, Kelly Marie Tran and Carrie Fisher. It will wrap up an over 40 year saga that has revolved around the Skywalkers. The new Star Wars movie comes to theaters on December 20.

Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker's final trailer drops big hints. Here's our breakdown
By Peter Marsh

The final trailer for Star Wars Episode IX: The Rise of Skywalker is here.
And while we're still officially in the dark about the plot, there were some nuggets in the trailer that the eagle-eyed were keen to know more about.
There are no spoilers for the film below, but if you're planning to go in completely clean, now's the time to back out.

Rey's dagger sure seems important
It's in a shot that lingers for less than a second, with lots going on. So here's a good look at it:
That's a dagger in her left hand.
Fans are speculating that it's the Dagger of Mortis, a weapon that featured in the Clone Wars animated series. Basically, the dagger had the ability to control and kill two siblings who were powerful, immortal Force users.
The ability to kill an immortal user of the Force (hello Emperor Palpatine) or control two powerful sibling Force users (more on this next) has fans convinced it'll play a big role in the plot of Episode IX.
It's also worth having a second look at that room from this shot.
With decor inspired by Darth Vader's meditation chamber, and a (now obliterated) shrine with his helmet on top, there's a fair chance it's got a big role to play as well.

Actually ... who is Rey?
For the third straight movie, the question of Rey's identity looks to be key.
In an Empire interview, Rise of Skywalker co-writer Chris Terrio said the key question he and director JJ Abrams kept coming back to was "who is Rey?".
"How can we give the most satisfying answer to that not only factually — because obviously people are interested in whether there's more to be learned of Rey's story — but more importantly who is she as a character? How will she find the courage and will and inner strength and power to carry on what she's inherited," he said.
The trailer suggests Kylo Ren has the answer (although he said he did in Episode VIII). Maybe it's got to do with that MacGuffin dagger with links to siblings who are powerful in the Force?
Another answer is in the Rise of Skywalker title, and Disney officially referring to it as the "final instalment of the Skywalker saga".

There might not be much Carrie Fisher

The trailer didn't give us any new footage of Fisher's General Leia Organa. It did give her the last, emotional word though:
"Always," we hear her say, finishing off the series' iconic phrase.
We know that CGI technology won't be used to recreate Fisher in the film. Here's what Abrams has said about how he's bringing Fisher back:
"Finding a truly satisfying conclusion to the Skywalker saga without her eluded us. We were never going to recast, or use a CG character. With the support and blessing from her daughter, Billie, we have found a way to honour Carrie's legacy and role as Leia in Episode IX by using unseen footage we shot together in Episode VII."
The big question is how much footage of Fisher do they have? It might not matter.
As the trailer showed, it won't take much Leia to wrench the heartstrings of fans and leave a big impact.

The Emperor got some work done (maybe)
Here's another shot that's got everyone breaking out the corkboard and red string:
Sure looks like Rey confronting Emperor Palpatine, even before you take into account Ian McDiarmid's unmistakeable evil laughter.
We know the biggest Star Wars baddie of them all is coming back, but in what form? Or rather, what on earth is left after you fall a great distance in the reactor of a Death Star, and then that Death Star explodes?
Early theories suggested Palpatine had survived as some kind of Force ghost, like we've seen Jedi do in the past. But the trailer seems to show he's survived with some mechanical additions, just like his one-time apprentice.
What we do know is the ominous throne that would make a Targaryen jealous seems to be linked to Palpatine.
Lucasfilm creative art manager Phil Szostak tweeted that it took direct inspiration from a lost Return of the Jedi sketch:

C-3PO probably won't die. But be ready ...
"Taking one last look sir," C-3PO says in the trailer.
"At my friends."
Big one day before retirement vibes, to be honest.
It's way too obvious to suggest that C-3PO will the one to bite the galactic dust.
But Abrams hasn't been shy about killing off fan favourites in his previous Star Wars outing (even if Harrison Ford was more than willing to be shown the door).
The death of C-3PO would mean the end of everyone's favourite Stars Wars trivia — that C3PO actor Anthony Daniels is the only person to appear in every episodic Star Wars movie as well as Solo and Rogue One.
Killing off the one thread between every film could mean that Disney is serious with it's "the saga will end" tagline.

Star Wars Fans Noticed a Detail in the New Rise of Skywalker Trailer That Supports a Major Kylo Ren Theory[size=1.125]
It looks like Adam Driver's character may have a 'Dark Knight Rises' climb of his own.
Why is Episode 9 called Rise of Skywalker? Luke is dead. It's been confirmed that we'll be saying goodbye to Leia Organa, Luke Skywalker's twin sister, in the first act of Rise. And based on what we learned from Last Jedi, Rey is not a Skywalker. So, as of now, we know there is only one remaining Skywalker in the world of Star Wars–Kylo Ren, aka Ben Solo. If the big finale to the Skywalker saga is going to show a certain Skywalker "rise," then we must assume that it's going to be Adam Driver's character.
A leading theory that's been making the rounds on Star Wars spoiler sites is that Ben Solo will fall to his death in the Rise of Skywalker. This is a popular way to die in this saga, considering that's how we saw Boba Fett, Emperor Palpatine, and Darth Maul go out in Star Wars.
This theory gained a lot of credence recently when fans finally got to see the final trailer for Rise of Skywalker earlier this week.
If you take a look at the top of the frame above, you'll see what fans are saying looks like the aforementioned "pit." Rey stands in front of a resurrected Palpatine, alone, ready to confront him and bring an end to the Dark Side of the Force once and for all. But where's Ben? From what the leakers on Reddit are saying, the moody Skywalker nephew is at the bottom of that deep, dark hole.
But, as in the case of Palpatine and Darth Maul, being thrown down a pit doesn't mean that Ben Solo is definitely gone. In fact, his climb back to ground-level may explain why the film is called Rise of Skywalker. Get it? He physically "rises" out of the depths to confront the Dark Lord of the Sith with Rey.
This would explain the spoilery image that was leaked earlier this week depicting Ben and Rey, both holding blue lightsabers, facing down Palpatine together. Adam Driver's character has climbed out of the depths–both literally and figuratively–rising from the darkness to return to his Jedi roots and bring an end to Palpatine.
And there's even some precedent in the comics for Kylo Ren knowing how to get himself out of a deep hole. A Redditor posted an image from Marvel's Kylo Ren comic series, showing the Sith-in-training learning how to stop himself from falling in mid-air with the Force. This may prove useful, especially if the pit is particularly deep. He may have a long way to the top.
Whether Ben dies in a pit or not, it's not likely that the Force-sensitive son of Han Solo will survive the events of Rise of Skywalker. The guy has slaughtered tons of innocent people throughout the galaxy–his own father included. J.J. Abrams has his work cut out for him if he wants to redeem Ben Solo in this big finale. Chances are, the only path to redemption for Ben is a fatal sacrifice. Vader did it before, and that worked out pretty good for him. Hopefully we get to see good guy Ben Solo as a Force Ghost before the movie ends.
The Rise of Skywalker premieres on December 20, 2019.

Star Wars has lost its charms and appeal after the disastrous second trilogy (episodes 1, 2, 3 a.k.a cerita parents Luke and Leia). Silap besar betul George Lucas sbb terlalu bergantung kpd CGI utk buat filem yg kononnya visually sangat hebat sampai jalan cerita pun dah secondary pada dia.
This third and final trilogy (episodes 7, 8, 9) macam ada improvement sikit, tapi sebenarnya dia dok ulang the same old premise i.e Rebels berjuang menentang Evil Empire. Yes, I also can't wait to say goodbye to this franchise.

Walau apa pun, lagu tema Darth Vader tetap LEGEND!!!

Terakhir utk saga ni je. Kan diorang buat trilogy. Tunggu ler 5,6 tahun lagi...diorang buat trilogy lain pulak. Tak boleh blah ramai plak yang sokong ReyLo. Kylo Ren tu dah sah2 jahat bunuh ramai orang, termasuk bapak sendiri. Kalau pun dia berubah jadi baik last2 tu, patut mati je (dah ala2 Darth Vader plak), kalau tak memamg awkward giler

Yes, terakhir untuk cerita keluarga Skywalker je. Mana mungkin Disney nak tamatkan Star Wars, rugilah. Money making machine okey. Tak acilah Marvel je yg conquer buat duit billion-billion. Star Wars pun nak jugakkkkk...

‘Rise Of Skywalker’ Should Be Disney’s Last ‘Star Wars’ Movie
We got news late last night that David Benioff and D.B. Weiss were no longer developing the next batch of Star Wars movies. This comes after a summer where the divisive (and allegedly quite rushed) final seasons of Game of Thrones turned at least a faction of the fan base against the HBO mega-hit in its closing hours, and just days after the duo made controversial comments suggesting that they were unprepared for Game of Thrones when they were hired to oversee the HBO show and essentially learned on the job, an admission which didn’t play well in an industry where countless “not a white guy” filmmakers struggle to get that big break with or without relevant experience and credits. Or, maybe they really did bow out because of the time commitments related to their $250 million deal with Netflix.
Either scenario puts Disney and Lucasfilm in a mild pickle, as Benioff and Weiss were developing what was supposed to be the next Star Wars movie, due December 22, 2022, after The Rise of Skywalker, which is to be the finale to the Skywalker Saga. It’s no secret that the franchise would be facing a fork in the road at the end of “Episode Nine,” with audience interest in Star Wars movies sans any explicit connection to the 1977-2019 nine-episode saga or the flagship characters (Luke, Leia, Han, Yoda, Kenobi, etc.) that defined the franchise for generations. It doesn’t help that the departure continues a pattern with filmmakers being hired and then fired/replaced from the saga before (Colin Treverrow, Josh Trank) or during production (Chris Miller and Phil Lord during Solo, Gareth Edwards from Rogue One).
Maybe the issue is Lucasfilm, including Kathleen Kennedy and other interested parties, should be less concerned about snapping up proverbial flavors of the month. They snapped up Edwards right after Godzilla broke out, hired Treverrow for Episode IX a month after Jurassic World broke box office records, grabbed Miller and Lord on the strength of The LEGO Movie and 22 Jump Street and hired Josh Trank before Fantastic Four even opened. With the knowledge that J.J. Abrams’ The Force Awakens was not an easy production (reshoots, revamps, etc.), even if it obviously worked out pretty well, it is ironic that the one “easy” Star Wars movie was Rian Johnson’s The Last Jedi, which probably explains why they offered Johnson (not nearly as “so hot right now” when he first joined) more Star Wars movies before Last Jedi opened.
For the record, there are still Star Wars movies in development courtesy of Marvel’s Kevin Feige and The Last Jedi director Rian Johnson. But should there be? Creating a new trilogy of Star Wars films without George Lucas was always a challenging proposition, if only because the franchise was uniquely his through the first six feature films. Yet, they were direct sequels to Return of the Jedi. Now that J.J. Abrams’ The Rise of Skywalker will end the story of Rey, Finn and Kylo Ren, along with the Skywalker/Solo story, it might also be a good stopping place for the Star Wars theatrical brand, at least for the moment. What is a Star Wars movie without George Lucas and without Luke Skywalker, Leia Organa and Han Solo? More importantly, do audiences want one?
Without presuming too much about the new “in development” Star Wars films, the question becomes: Who wants these? Do general audiences want more Star Wars movies on an “every two years” basis with no foundation in the Luke/Han/Leia story? Do they want relatively “new” sci-fi action movies that just happen to have the words “Star Wars” slapped on the title? Or, as feared from the beginning, did the initial excitement over the last three “episodes” stem from their status as direct sequels to Return of the Jedi? Simply put, were general audiences less excited about the return of Star Wars and more excited about the return of Harrison Ford, Carrie Fisher and Mark Hamill as Han Solo, Leia Organa and Luke Skywalker? And if it’s the latter, what’s the risk of pressing onward anyway?
The theatrical industry has changed since 2012. Moviegoers spend a much larger percentage of their money on a much smaller pool of “big” movies. Audiences who once went to the movies just to go to the movies now get much of their filmed entertainment on TV and streaming services. If anything, The Mandalorian (which looks damn good) and the other in-development shows may suggest that the immediate future for Star Wars is not in theatrical but in episodic television content. After all, a Star Wars movie without the beloved Star Wars characters (even the prequels were rooted in familiar characters) may end up as viable over the long run as Fantastic Beasts or Men in Black: International. Even the rebooted X-Men series only financially flourished when the old gang showed up in X-Men: Days of Future Past.
Moviegoers are already more hesitant than every to show up for big movies sans character for whom they are already attached. This isn’t like television (or streaming) where audiences will take a chance from the comfort of their couch on new characters encased in an existing property. That said, even (among others) Star Wars: Rebels, Angel, Fraser and Better Call Saul had connections to the proverbial TV mothership. Offhand, I would say that in television spin-off world, save one or two properties I missed, Star Trek (which had its first spin-off, The Next Generation, taking place a century after the previous show)is the exception rather than the rule. No matter who directs it, a new Star Wars movie sans any flagship characters and much connection to the core “Empire/Rebellion” story is not a preordained global smash.
This isn’t to suggest that Star Wars theatrical franchise should end after The Rise of Skywalker. Even a disappointing Star Wars movie will help Disney increase market share and spice up Disney+. However, we’ve seen a stark difference in how franchise titles are received depending on who wants them. If audiences want them (Pitch Perfect 2, Angel Has Fallen, Jurassic World), they become big hits. But if studios or filmmakers are the most interested parties (Alien: Covenant, Rambo: Last Blood, Terminator: Genisys, The Huntsman: Winter’s War), then they tend to fail. After The Rise of Skywalker, Disney will hope audiences still want explicitly “new” Star Wars movies or believe that they can pull a Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle, a disconnected continuation sans any flagship characters, which appeals to those who only cared about Luke, Han and Leia.
When Disney first bought Lucasfilm in 2012, the initial plan was to offer a Star Wars movie ever year, with an “Episode” alternating with a spin-off/stand-alone Star Wars Story. But the global rejection of Solo: A Star Wars Story (after its budget had ballooned to $275 million due to swapping out Miller/Lord for Ron Howard), as well as development stalling for a Boba Fett flick and a Ben Kenobi flick, put those plans on ice. Ewan McGregor’s Obi-Wan Kenobi movie became a Disney+ episodic while the Boba Fett movie was seemingly retrofitted into the upcoming The Mandalorian episodic, also debuting on Disney+. Simply put, the notion of a new Star Wars movie every year was an announcement meant to please shareholders and impress the media as opposed to meeting an audience demand.

Hmmm, finale utk trilogy ni ingatkan lagi best dan epic, sekali hampeh. Rasa macam filler je, takde benda sangat berlaku. Palpatine tu setakat "hey, I'm back! Remember me". Acah2 konon nak buat Rey tu asalnye keturunan nobody, bila fanbase macam tak dapat terima, twist pulak, Rey tu cucu Palpatine. Bagi tajuk The Rise of Skywalker ala2 tribute ler utk Skywalker (walaupun cerita macam takde kena mengena) sbb Star Wars start dgn Skywalker, ni kira closure utk Skywalker saga. Skywalker bloodline berakhir dgn mati nye Ben. Tak tau ler tiba2 30thn lagi wujud plak secret child dpd Skywalker bloodline macam mana tiba2 Rey ni secret child dpd Palpatine bloodline. Palpatine mati ditangan cucu sendiri

Ok.. pada aku bila dia sambung jer new trilogy ni dengan episode 7 force awaken aku cam.. apa lagi jalan cerita yang diorang cuba nak sampaikan.. so at the and of the day story line repetitive la.. untuk rise of the skywalker ni.. pada aku secara rohnya tak cukup macam Avengers Endgame.. sebab dia ada movie that lead up to that dari pelbagai superhero.. macam Star Wars ni takde sangat.. pastu banyak old character either mati because of natural death of the actor or actress atau memang mati dalam movie..

Untuk ROTSW ni starting je pada aku ok bila dah end tu it is too familiar contoh cam Rey tgk resistance fighter kene lanyak sambil Palpatine menganjing.. sama cam scene Return of the Jedi..

Cuma nya satu je la.. in a way masa episode 3 sith berjaya bawak Jedi si Anakin ke darkside yang ni Jedi bawak keturunan sith ke Jedi.. tapi tak cukup untuk wow kan penonton...

rasa tak puas ngn ending, tapi puas ngn scene fighting.
i thought yang last ni more emotional since han solo dah mati, tinggal leia je ada untuk sedarkan ben

maybe sebab carrie fisher dah mati in real life, jadi nak wrap cite ni pun jadi kelam kabut..
emotion and chemistry antara ben dengan rey tak brapa nak sampai.
