SIBU: The police have arrested seven men here for illegal gambling in Durin while the movement control order is being enforced.
Sibu OCPD Asst Comm Stanley Jonathan Ringgit said, a police team inspected a car workshop at about 3.40pm on March 31 and found the seven suspects deeply engrossed in a game of mahjong.
The police arrested the seven and also seized two mahjong sets, two wooden tables, six plastic chairs and RM505 from them.
The case is being investigated under Section 7 (2) of the Common House Gambling Act and under Regulation 7 of the Prevention and Control of Infectious Diseases (Measures Within the Infected Local Areas) Regulations 2020 for not adhering to the MCO.v |
