he Four Temperaments is an idea of personality that traces its roots to the Ancient Greek medical theory of humorism. Humorism attributed disease to imbalances in the four bodily fluids ("humors"): blood, yellow bile, black bile, and phlegm. In addition to determining disease, these were also claimed to be associated with a specific temperament.
